    I am very reluctant to go pleasure fishing at a venue where I can't use keepnet even for only silvers I thing the management miss an opportunity to allow people to use keep nets for silvers and charge a little extra for the privilege its not all about carp or match fishing !

      Exactly but why only allow for matches it doesn't make a difference wether pleasure or match fishing as long as it is a fish safe net

    I've been a match fisherman for a long long time and I stand by all the different rules set by the owners. But I must also stress that I know some fisherman that don't go by the rules due to getting away with it for years. The negative side to fishing rules is that no owner polices the rules which is a shame.
    Number one rule........ No licence....... no fishing. All fishery owners should check every angler before fishing.

    What has always got me Rob and Lee is not the banning of elasticated feeders but you can not use the guru X safe which is inline but you can still fish on the pole

    I was disqualified from a fisho qualifier at Hayfield this year for going 1lb 3oz over the 50lb net limit. Would have finished 2nd overall and even though I agree with net limits Hayfield didn’t have any level of flexibility like most fisheries have such as between 50lb and 60lb reduced back to 50lb and if over 60lb then disqualify the net.

    I’d say start with the fish welfare related rules ( net limits, barbless hooks, bait limits in relation to water volume and stocking etc) which should be standard and then allow adaptations on other matters as you point out it’s the owner’s decision. Those with what we might term as unnecessary at certain venues will just lead to people choosing other venues so becomes a business decision for the owner.

    What a loaded question!!.... why is groundbait not allowed in some venues now??......whilst boilies & pellets are chucked in by the bucket load ?...

  • @StefanPal13
    @StefanPal13 11 месяцев назад +2

    NO net limits, 4 nets in and split the fish, because there’s very few venues in the country where you’d catch more than 300lbs in a match

    I don’t used fixed bottom rigs. But surely a float rig - either on pole or waggler is also a fixed rig. I’ve caught plenty of other peoples float rigs with fish still on the end.
    Great video. 🐳👍

    Fisheries that have different match rules compared to pleasure fishing.
    Like no method feeders in matches but you can pleasure fishing.
    Fishery pellets for matches yet can use whatever when pleasure fishing.
    The 2 fisheries locally i enjoy the most have very minimal rules.
    One is no boilies, 500g of meat and use their nets/limits and running feeders.
    The other just has net limits.
    Obviously barbless hooks on commercial venues.
    The other is

    Floats are fixed rigs and I see more tethered floats in the water or trees so what do we do about this? Sensible rules yes, bait limits, net limits, over stocked waters with 600lb plus nets why?

  • @mauriceklaas2712
    @mauriceklaas2712 11 месяцев назад

    Barbless hooks, no braid lines (at all), net limits (60lb), small fish/big fish in seperate nets, always free running rigs I would say.

    Fish welfare and longevity and sustainability of the sport should always come first. Rules regarding what's fair or constitutes good fishing are really cosmetic and should probably be down to individual fishery owners, thereby dictating or being dictated the attraction of their venue. I would rather see some RULES become BYLAWS enforceable by law. At the moment it isn't actually enforceable by law to be equipped with a landing net for all fishing as I believe it should be and this should be a condition of the rod licence. There are bylaws concerning keepnet construction and size but this should be expanded to weight limits. For me it should be mandatory that a ticket sale is conditional to a rod licence being produced. Moving forward I would also like to see the usage of unhooking mats expanded to all fish on the bank, especially in matches as we do on our venues. It's a tough one to get going in terms of convincing people but is slowly becoming more widespread and I truly believe, while not the be all and end all, it is a contributing factor to healthy fish and fisheries

    Minimum 3 keepnets, 60lb net limit & fish to be split equally is the rule all fisheries should adopt...nice, safe & logical. Just my humble opinion 🎣🎣👍👍

    You say that you meat and high oil baits would be banned, well at White Acres the average angler cannot use meat but if you fish one of festivals you can, how does that one work?

  • @alfiepotter7063
    @alfiepotter7063 11 месяцев назад

    No meat would be my only rule apart from obvious ones, barbless hooks and net limits etc, i dont like the idea of only being able to fish with a certain length lash and not being able to overshot

  • @paulwilliams1519
    @paulwilliams1519 11 месяцев назад

    I'd like to see three keepnets split the fish
    Maximum size 12 barbleess hooks
    No floating baits
    Fishery pellets
    I think Aston Park fisheries have got the whole rules thing about right. Just let people go and fish without being stupid !
    No lash limits
    No bait limits
    No banned floats such as jigger or overshotted floats
    Even the no float rig is allowed.

  • @Aitch412
    @Aitch412 11 месяцев назад

    Rules... great idea... but usually never policed or checked... so what's the flippin point... bailiff usually wobbles along the bank, takes yer cash with bad grace and wobbles off to the next punter...
    Even on high profile fisheries... rig/bait checks are never done...

  • @geoffbacon69

    There's a small pond I used to fish as a kid.but in the last few years the woman who's taken over running it has utterly destroyed it by introducing pathetic rules that have ruined the fishing...
    There are some rules that ought be rid of
    Keepnets should be allowed not just for matches
    Groundbait allowed but 1kg bag only
    Stalking only on certain lakes

    At the end of the day it's the owners lively hood he must set the rules as he sees fit, if we don't like his rules we can go elsewhere.
