Lance klusener for someone who is a entertainment player was a very calm and cool person. Zulu would have been amazing in this current era of friendly pitches and t20s.what a player
Klusener was a high-class allrounder whose numbers (though impressive) don't show how valuable he was to the team. He was a great entertainer who did well everywhere in various conditions. He had weakness against spin bowling but he eventually worked on it and made valuable runs in India and Sri Lanka.
We were fortunate to watch this legend's playing days with Sir Tony Grieg's commentary those days...Loved him lot than any other player as a true match winner .
Had he come out of injuries and worked harder, coz bowling was his strong suite initially , he would have ruled the world. Still, a creditable career... Many forget this knock but this was what helped Saf level this series. Till this period he was doing well. But I feel the Klusener of 1997-98 upto 1999 wc was a beast
Facts and even before 1999 WC lots of commentators including Geoffrey Boycott had nothing but positive things to say about him with Boycott even encouraging him to vary his length when bowling. I honestly felt Klusener was way more dangerous under Hansie Cronje's (RIP) captaincy than Pollock's.
In his initial day no exact initial it's the mid of 2000 after that he developed the dosra nd use it a a main weapon.. he use it earlier without success.. batsman Cld ream it in hand... Bt after he developed the way of chucking he succeeded... Sourav Ganguly played him quite ease... Even Sachin Rahul azahr dnt HV any problem to tackle him..
This was perhaps the last test series in which Klusener did well. After this test series he hardly played anymore tests. Was a big fan of him and felt bad the way his career went downhill.I believe South Africa didn't do justice to his talent by frequently making him bat down the order, after Boucher and Pollock. He did well when he batted up the order during his initial playing days.
Well said Sean! I've always said that Klusener was a better batsman than Boucher and Pollock and yes when he first started he was batting up the order (opening or batting at no 3) in ODIs with a lot of success. Had South Africa implemented a similar tactic like how Australia had Gilchrist open the batting in ODIs and bat at no 7 in Tests, he would've been successful. That is why his career went downhill because he wasn't getting the opportunity to bat frequently and got lazy. Credit to the late Hansie Cronje for having him up the order at the start of his ODI career prior to that ankle injury in 1998. I also felt that had Klusener opened the batting with Herschelle Gibbs South Africa would've won the 99 WC, and I honestly think they didn't do that well in 99 since he was the one to bail them out all the time. I would not fault him and Donald for that run out because 1: SA should've played as a team and not be complacent against ZIM and 2: Gibbs cockiness against AUS led to that famous drop catch.
Klusener will always remain my all-time favorite SA player. He brought the batting aggression SA needed in the 90s (proof 1997 Wills Quadrangular Cup in PAK and his 1999 performance). Why SA always choke in big tournaments? Is because they are always too defensive, always failing to adapt to situations, and too afraid to be aggressive.
I could've seen Klusener scoring at least 20 as a opener in ODI and 18 Test hundreds as a no 7 batsman ahead of Pollock. It looks like SA (barring Cronje) never really like aggressive batsmen up the order pre AB DeVilliers.
Those days celebrations after getting their hundreds is so good. Now a days circus feets. Even our Indian players also like Kl Rahul, pant, dhawan rohit, etc.
Sudheer Gandam I haven’t ever seen rohit be overly expressive after getting a hundred. Dhawan too with his unbridled joy at all stages of a game brings nothing but good vibes when celebrating a milestone. Rahul has some of the most understated celebrations too. Kohli does let his temper boil over but I’d prefer variety in my sport thank you.
Jacques Kallis was the best allrounder for South africa in Tests while Klusener was the best Allrounder in odis. Statistically Kallis have better average in both formats but more of a defensive batsman and quite a good bowler though later part of his career he never bowled much whereas Klusener was extremely attacking kind of batsman and on his peak career he was a very good strike bowler and and used to take wickets in the middle overs and its evident that injury ruined his bowling as he lost much pace after 2000 .Klusener played much less matches than Kallis but had a more impact than kallis in odis but kallis was better in tests
The era when Ravi Shastri used to be one of the best cricket commentators. The only Indian commentator to feature in neutral matches. Later on he decided to become a BCCI watchdog and a commentator worse than Ian Botham
One of the greatest all rounders of his time. Along with Flintoff, and Kallis. Today's all rounders are bits and pieces players neither good in batting or bowling. Only Andre Russell can qualify to be a genius all rounder
Dear Mudit Mathur sir,Ben stokes is completely all-rounder today...he gives priority to play for England first.....Russel wants play only big T20s league.......

Such a great cricketer , but that idiot Grame Smith destroyed his career after becoming captain of South African team , otherwise world cricket would see more talent of him.
That base ball player is no 1 all-rounder in 90's era . He was most destructive batsman southafrica ever produced . He turned a loss match into a winning match for his country . A true legend
Klusener was super fast bowler who used to bowl over 150km speed and terrorize batsmen before he had ankle injury. This made him to give up lots of pace and resort to leg cutters and offcutters to suit his sore ankle, yet he was successful .
According to me he was the best all-rounder of his era
True
Most destructive batsman too.
@@oceanwaves657 very entertaining too.
Any era.
After Bevan

Lance klusener for someone who is a entertainment player was a very calm and cool person. Zulu would have been amazing in this current era of friendly pitches and t20s.what a player
1999 world cup was all about him..
Love from india..🙏🏽
My all time favourite player. Supported South Africa during late 1990s because I loved Klusener. What an all rounder. A true match winner.
Proteas have never found another Klusener for the team
The world has never
Absulatuly correct.Zulu the great all-rounder selfless player. But his carrier was spoiled by selfish G.smith.I am a great fan of ZULU till now.
SA has found Kallis who is great all-rounder of all time 45 test century 250 plus wicket
Right. Klusener will be remembered for SA cricketers of all time
Damn ...he took a prime Murali to the cleaners in his home ground.....how good was Klusener ....he would have enjoyed the flat decks of modern T20
he was actually a T20 player of the ODI's.
He would have tarnished the bowlers career in T20s
No haters for this man just love his batting style

One of the best test innings ever played by a South African.

Best all rounders team is South Africa in 1990-99
Real champion side of that time too.
Zulu was one of the grait all-rounder in world. What a player he was...
That's how you celebrate your effort, with grace! Not like these modern greats jump up and down !

It's true... belting hundreds on batting paradise and showing lots of emotions as if it was hard fought.

Loved him in full flow
When every kid tried to imitate klusener's action.. and tried to bat left handed..
There was a time when whole South African team used to be a batting side
Us time ki Dainik Bhaskar ki headline thi...Wicketon ki patjhad k bich dte rhe Klusner...Wow what a childhood memory
Would have been a billion dollar man in T20 era.
Only Lance klusener & Gilchrist ( in test ) had that ability to come in no 7 or 8 & hit 100,200 . Legends 🙏🙏
Kapil Dev, Botham and Imran Khan have done it before. Batting at 7.
Destructive batsman of all time for South Africa.
Michael bevan & Lance klusener masters of chasing in odi's
One Of my best 👍
Guy was a legend. Loved watching him bat.
He was best example for great all rounder those days
First six bowler was the current ICC umpire Dharmasena !

Regardless none of these theatrics (even if they do happen) have an effect on the actual sport being played.
He played his best cricket in 99 W.cup. unfortunately run out caused them otherwise he lonely win the cup,can imagine how dangerous he was🌹
Klusener wud have relished playing in t20s
On this day dharmasena decided to become umpire 😁😁😁
amazing inning. Klusener won SA match single handedly which could have been badly lost, like first test of the series.
Klusener is one of the lost heroes who didnt get appreciation which he was entitled of
Who can score century at the position of 9th, kallis, klusener are unforgettable hero for,not only s a, entire world

Some of your Indian pitches are much dirtier than sri lankan pitches.
@@nimalperera3969never. India has some bouncy or pace pitches whereas all stadiums in SL are dusty spin tracks
