Huge fan of the LOTR Trilogy, even The Hobbit Trilogy to a moderate extent. Haven't seen a single episode of The Rings of Power. I have to say, I think you deserve a medal for actually sitting through what sounds to be a travesty of a show.
The Rings of Power makes The Hobbit films seem as good as the LOTR films, that's how far apart it is in quality. Haha appreciate that, it is an absolute travesty. It's sort of the opposite of The Acolyte, which had more happening but none of it making sense. This however just drifts along with nothing to say for itself, trying to be Tolkienian but failing miserably, and dragging out each scene FAR LONGER than they need to be. Appalling stuff...
Why do those elves talk like Hallmark cards? Even saying that is an insult to Hallmark cards. Especially that pudgy elf-king. The dialogue sounds pretentious. All hand-waving but no real magic. You wanna feel the real magic? Try Gandalf speech when Frodo said, "I wish the Ring had never come to me." Now, that's powerful. That's inspiring even to this day. That made me emotional every time I hear it. None of this, "My heart was played like a harp" crap. O my god. This show has a formula: A problem arose, then the solution comes very quickly after that. I got more suspense watching Ron and Harry going into the Forbidden Forest to see Aragog's lair, than watching Isil-lame Nothing grabs me, I felt no emotions (other than being exasperated by how bad this pile of turd is) I don't know why people are saying that Bear McCreary is a good composer. Every music in this is just to fill the void. No music theme, no memorable tune, no inspiration.
To answer both comments, you’re spot on with your assessment of Rings of Power. I can’t think of a show where more nothingness has gone on for such a long period. Even The Acolyte, as bad as that was, had some semblance of a plot, even if it was filled with holes. This show however just goes on and on and nothing happens! To answer your second question, I haven’t seen Alien Romulus, which is why I haven’t spoken about it. I’m not invested in the Alien franchise, only seen the first 2 and Prometheus and it was a long time ago. I’ve heard some very good and and very bad things so not sure if I’ll check it out yet. What did you think, if you saw it?
@@kiksta RoP should whither away and die like the Acolyte. What can you expect from a Bezos' vanity project and a platform for identity politics by talentless writers who think they write what Tolkien could not? Yeah, because the Oxford English professor could not write such garbage even if he was high on the halfling's leaf, puking his head into a bucket. I like Alien Romulus. I went in with low expectation, and it exceeded it. There are some things I don't like, so it's not perfect. Only the original 1979 is the perfect one. I hate the trope of stupid characters in horror movies. In this, some of them are not that, although not all. Some characters are simply for kill count. I was looking forward for The War of the Rohirrim. But after watching the trailer, I think I'll see it when it drops on streaming. It doesn't warrant the trouble and the expenses of catching it at the cinema. What say you, my friend?
@@kiksta I like Alien Romulus. It's not perfect. Only the original 1979 Alien is perfect. I like it leans more to horror. The crew is too young. Half is dumb, but they are there as kill count. I went in with low expectation, and it exceeds it. It has new ideas such as: Can you survive when a facehugger jumps on your face? What acid blood would do to a human? What happens in between a small xenomorph pup to a full grown beast? I was also excited about The War of Rohirrim, but after seeing the trailer, I won't be watching it at the theater. It doesn't warrant the trouble of going out and the expense. I'll see it when it drops on streaming. Too bad, because Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens names are attached to it, but it's yet another girl-boss, nostalgia-bait scenario. You're right that RoP does not deserved to be mention in the same regard and respect as LoTR. I was offended to see RoP being mentioned in Wiki article on Tolkien's characters or places. It's a fan-fiction. And a horrible one at that. It's not cannon.

We've never heard what you think of Alien Romulus, I've just realized.
