I heard that free flights were first class, is it true?
That is not always true. If there are fifteen people on standby waiting for a seat... You get whatever seat is left or you will get on the next flight if it is possible. You can be the last person on the standby list and you may not get on the flight. Seniority is a priority!
I'm literally doing it just to travel for free like that alone makes it insane
Most people are honestly.
*I work as a ramper too! I agree, the military bags are so floppy, but huge and HEAVY. great list and video!* :)
The military bags are the worst.
The 99 pound giant duffel bags with the 6 flimsy wheels on the bottom are my bane on international flights

Cool and very informative video. 🙏🏽😷
Enjoyed the video! Starting training Monday. I'm the type to stay ready so do you have any advice on gear like knee pads, gloves for the winter, ear muffs, boots.. Etc.
Whoop whoop! 🎉🎉
Congratulations! You will definitely need knee pads, gloves, and ear muffs. The company that you will work for should provide work uniforms including boots. However Meijer usually has a buy one get one a dollar for composite or steel toe boots. You’ll need a lot of layers for the winter snce it will be snowing. I like to wear thermal pajama pants underneath my cargo work pants. Hand warmers doesn’t keep my hands warm, however you still can purchase some. I know Delta provided uniforms and boots.
If your still on the ramp? Pay for real good boots! Cold weather gear! And rain gear! Buy a pair of rubber boots to go over your boots! ALWAYS WEAR HEARING PROTECTION even in the bag room! Loud Constant noises is what causes hearing loss!! Good luck!
Thanks for the insight! Just applied for ramp agent at LAX. How long is hiring process overall?
The hiring process can take longer than a month. It depends on how fast the company is. It also depends on how many people are hired. My hiring process took three months
Thank you. Very informative!
You are welcome!
To me 1-20 would have to be free travel benefits. Everything else is simply what you have to deal with to get those flight benefits.
For those who are built for it, being a ramp agent is one of the most fun entry level jobs you can have, but as far as entry level goes, it’s probably the most difficult to understand everything. Most rewarding though
Yeah, definitely. Unfortunately many airlines here in Australia where I am outsource to external companies. Because of this you don’t get any of the airline benefits so no flight benefits etc which sucks.
Awesome video!
One question - do you prepare the Loadsheets / Weight & Balance training?
Greetings from SOF and BOJ :)
Very informative and yeah there's pros and cons. Swissport International ain't no joke as ramp agent.
Why??

Thank you for your message regarding, wanting to become Ramp Agent 😊
Hello MIA, thank you for your reply. Are there any tips you can help me with,
as far as the written examination/test, for a Ramp Agent is concerned. Would be very helpful for me
Everything that you will need to study will be given to you for the written exam. Make sure that you study.
@@ShortFUNMIAHi Mia, how are you doing? Just out of interest, I guess parts of fhe exam would be about weights & balancing, baggage loading, shipping costs, Keroin cost, identity dangerous goods regulations, keeping in contact with the captain in case of any changes. Also being responsible for the arrival and departure. Of the air craft. I'm sure there's a lots more to learn? Bless have a nice day 🙂
@@dennisbatchelor3814 Depending on whichever airline you are taking the test for the company provides packets of information that you will have to look over. Nice , I have an interview for menzies on friday , would you recommend the fuler position as well ?
I ´ ve never worked for that company. I did know somone who for Menzies and that person liked it. You can always switch to another company with the airport if you do not like fueling.

When your applying for the job do you have to pass a physical ability test?
For the larger airline companies such as American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines require a physical ability test. I had worked for a subsidiary for Delta. Which did not require a physical ability test. However it did require a lot of assessments.
I want to be able to work at the airport but I also want to be able to be off on holidays to spend time with my family
You should give it a try to see if you’d like working at the airport. Sometimes it is difficult to get holidays off.
Holidays are the best time because people travel
I agree everyone wants to have holidays off weekends off two spend time with family friends.
OMG... i burned up... i did appreciate the communication though... you can be aware as long as you got some peeps who can respect and assist you in your work details... you gotta be able to slug them bags and look good doing it...
Besides the heat how do you like it so far?
I’m currently waiting to attend ramp class. I super nervous. Anything I should study on besides airport codes
Frankly you will be fine. Airport codes are important. After the interview you will be trained on airport codes, how to load the luggage, and everything else. I know when I had my interview I googled questions and when it was time for the interview it was nothing like expected.

Are there any transfer opportunities? If I started to work in Philly but wanted to transfer to LA. If there is transfer opportunities, how does that work? Thank you, great info!
Yes, you can transfer to other departments and cities. It’s always is a option. I’m unsure how the transfer process works. When your hired you can inquire about transferring to different locations.
@@ShortFUNMIA sorry had another question, does your training happen at the location you apply for or do you travel out for for your training?
@@emmanueldelacruz5453 I applied to Detroit so, I trained at that airport for the ramp agent position. I do believe flight attendants are the only people who travel to Florida… somewhere warm to train and be certified flight attendants.
#5 How are you meeting so many people from all over the world when you don't interact with passengers? Even if you did occasionally talk to one of them for some reason, it wouldn't be very often or very long.
True but even a glimpse of meeting is still meeting someone
How do you get promoted tho what do you think punctual and what else ?
Promotions are available. Whenever a position is available you can ask managers or a general manager what other qualifications are needed.
Winter is ok for me, untill the ski flights start
Yes, those are the worst.
After applying for a job online, would you follow up by telephone with airline’s human resource headquarter office or at a point of contact for the airline at the airport which you applied?

You can contact them by phone or email. If it's been more than two weeks you can contact management. It usually takes time.

Yes, I would recommend a back brace. I never wore one while working however some of my coworkers mentioned it helped them.

Any tips on getting to the interview? I’ve put in tons of applications and haven’t gotten a response.
Have you applied through indeed? Usually you have a better chance at getting a interview.
My question is what descont did you get in hotel and how many flights you get
Did you have to give personal references for all you security clearances, like USPS, FBI, and FAA? I have plenty of them, but I'm tired of bothering them with phone calls as to my character, and reference forms to fill out and mail in. No one should be subjected to that for years on end.
Can you transfer bases anytime you want?
Yes, you can transfer. However I’d recommend transferring after six months. You’re more than welcome to ask whenever you get hired.
quick quetion i have my learner's permit but not the 2nd level driver lisense the one that you can drive on highways but i can kinda drive like a beginner. s will i be able to be hired. im planning to get the 2nd level of my driver licnese in a few months due to getting my license late.

So I just got an interview date but I have a full time job already, how should I go about the interview with doing both? And can I only work certain shifts?
People do work full time jobs and work for the airlines. You could work a part time or seasonal position. Honestly it’s all about seniority and what you bid for. Example: You’ll have to bid 30 lines and get whatever shift. Favorite shift to least favorite shift.
