Not sure. IED, RPG, mortar, rocket, hand grenade; take your pick. The fragments are fairly small, but there's a few. Enough that they can't figure out how to image my knees. Small and deep enough that surged to remove them would do more damage than the little bits already have. This healed my knee pain in 4 days. I started to feel some mild knee pain for a couple weeks. I sought out this video and started doing 100-200 of the Jane Fonda leg raises on my side a day (not Jeff's standing exercise) and the pain was gone by the weekend. I want to keep at these, build up the glute medius, and then try trail jogging again and see if the knee pain crops up like it did all the times before. Jeff's the greatest
I’ve had really bad knee pain for the last few months now resulting in a painful bump in the middle of the knee. Gonna try these before working out hopefully they will work 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@hectora7479 like 30 to 50 each leg multiple times a day, adding up to around 100 to 200 ballpark each leg a day. Oddly my left leg, where the knee pain was, could do more, like 50. My right leg, which I thought was my dominant, would fail around 30 sometimes. Don't know what that was about
@@infinitysplitda456 It depends on which leg you start the exercise with, the other one stabilizes, when you switch it is a bit pre-exhausted so you do less on the other side. It's what I noticed with myself when doing them. Jeff's exercise doesn't have this issue, as it is a true 1 leg movement.
This makes so much sense. My chiropractor said my foot arch is off and recommended I wear soles in my shoes which explains my knee and hip pain. Thank you!!

Jeff, you are the man. I've learned more from your videos than years of professional training. I hit my weak hips too hard... didn't know I could be sore there. Love it.
Excellent, excellent, excellent video. (Any chance you could insert updated video 5:00 - 7:00 so we can better see from the knees down everything you're attempting to convey?)
Thank you for making this video. I have been having pain in my knees for weeks now and I finally have a solution that isn’t “just rest for a week or two”
Thanks so much for making this video, I've finally found out why my knees hurt when doing lunges, it's the track, not the knee. LADIES, if you have knee pain, watch this as we are naturally knock need from the hips for childbirth.
After working my glutes like you said i can finally run again! I did glute bridges for a year and now only very little knee pain when i run and this is on concrete Im 144 and 42 years old thanks Jeff!
This is very informative. Watching you, I found out that the pain I’ve been having lately in my knees AND lower back (from another one of your videos) are due to weak hips. Those exercises burn so bad and more on my right side than my left. Feels like I exhaust those muscles so fast. Didn’t realize it until watching this and another video. Thanks for sharing!

His lower back stretch video is amazing too. Went through 5+ years of various Army PT and never once was the stuff he mentioned done. I even still have all my old paperwork with all the exercises/stretches and his exercises aren't on it. And honestly, his exercises/stretches in that video help more than the military PT I was doing.
I went to the Dr. He didn't address any of what you said. This makes so much since. I was fighting through depression . I stopped training and barely ate. I lost about 15 pounds of muscle in about 2 months. My thighs shrank. When I started back training everything was tense and my knees hurt. This helps me understand why and gives me solutions. Thanks Jeff !
This helps with doublebassdrumming as well ! Thank you! Rotation of the knee(tracks) with swiveltechnique, dropping the weight to the dominant side, those are all common flaws in drumming and we could benefit so much from a physical therapists point of view.
Thank you! I fell in 2014 on my knees and had physical therapy. I even got a cortisone shot. I used to do the dropping of the hip on a stair step, but this looks promising to help with knee pain when I do my squats. I also LOVE 💘 your Athlean XX for women. I finished the program twice. The 1st time I only lost some weight but not too many inches. The 2nd time around I did it with intermittent fasting & completely changed my eating habits. I've gone down from a 14 to a 10 and still going. Your program is great!
Im 28 years old and i just started getting back into skateboarding not really active besides at work and i noticed my right knee always cracks when i squat and would feel weak when i bend but as soon as i started the hip exercise i can squat no cracking or pain in my knee at all im glad i found this video 👌🏼
Jeff, I am your big fan, When I went to doctor for my shoulder pain(AC-joint). he just prescribed pain killers, with your videos I was able to treat root cause, and got rid of issue. I understood anatomy of shoulder and pec muscle, corrected my bench press form and worked on should blades muscle. I can not express in words but I am truly indebted to you. Also please bring join kind of button, I would like to pay back with money.
Thank you for posting this video. I've been dealing with patellar tendonitis in my left knee on and off for going on two years and originally thought that it was because of my feet. But after this video, I found that my hips we're indeed very weak.
You just changed my whole entire life with this video. My PT has never explained this to me quite like you just did. I started having knee problems about 9 months ago and just chalked it up to over exercising and know I have a misalignment in both knees...not to mention hip pain at times. I also have flat feet so this video made me look at my “knee” problem in a whole different light.

I come to your channel first for all my joint problems...and typically learn more than i can digest with one viewing, so I watch it again and again, which then levels up my training long term. Over the past 3 years, with your vids (and my own casual hobby of drawing anatomical posters) I’ve learned nearly as much as a PT student, and more! Thank you, i hope you earn a lot of passive cash from youtube because a lot of us athletes can’t afford the injury, let alone the consultation bill. Not saying I worship you, but over time, ive come to trust you wholeheartedly. Peace and gratitude from Rhode Island!
Hey guys! I was dealing with some upper patella pain (Pain at the top of the knee cap). I happened to be going around youtube looking for some remedies and this video has solved the issue. The exercise pertaining weak hips is definitely the issue I was having. Use me as an example in 2020, that this video is still relevant. Absolutely spectacular job, Jeff! This video has changed the game for me.
Thank you very much for this information - I did six - only SIX reps and it burned like a sonofa, think this might explain a lot of my knee pain. Really appreciate your putting this out. Just thank you.
Man instant relief! had knee pain and quad tightness on my right side for 3 weeks, and after doing this simple hip exercise im moving alot more freely and pain in my lower back is gone. thanks bro!
Dude i did 250 over the toe below the knees slow intense squats everyday for a week and i almost destroyed my knees without knowing but damn heck of a balance i got from that i mean it was 2 years ago and i still maintained the balance
Its amazing how can i learn so much more of biomechanics with this guy in 4 minutes, than in 4 years of physical therapy in college. I know all this things but soemtimes i can not apply them to functional training.

Thank you Sir. Your info helped me out of a constant pain. Did this hip drill and put my old orthics. Back in and with in 10 mins I was pain free again. Thank you very much. I am a 420lbs man trying to get back down to 350. And then Down to 230lbs.
Cut back on your portions a little at a time, you will lose weight this way along with exercise. Just leave something on your plate, one bite of food at each meal. Do that for a couple of months at every meal. Then try eating 90% of what’s on your plate. Replace that missing 10% with a filling vegetable or fruit like broccoli or a banana if you still feel hungry. Do that for 2 months. Add simple cardio like two 20 min walks or dancing each week. Keep cutting back on your portions every few months, drink some water at each meal. Your body will get rid of the existing weight and your stomach will also adjust to the smaller portions. I did this and lost 30 pounds in a year. I realized I was eating too much food and I sit all day for work so I had no way to burn the excess calories. So now I eat what my body will actually burn for me and help it with eating a little steamed vegetables, salads, & fruit from time to time. I go for 25 min walks when it’s warm out. I still don’t own a gym membership. I couldn’t believe it worked for me but it did. Try it if you’d like. This approach is low maintenance and you go as fast or as slow as you’re comfortable with. It’ll be easier on your joints too.
This is one of the best video's you have had yet. This is very good incite on this issue. Thank you very much! You probably just save hundreds of trainee's a lot of pain.
I did 40 Jane Fonda Leg Raises With Each Leg. Started Burning about Halfway With Each Leg. Didn't know that I had weak hips. Thanks for the Great Advice. Liked the video. Already Subscribed.
Found this video and immediately did 50 reps of leg raises on my side and it burned like an Indian sunburn mixed with a bad sunburn on a hot day lol. But I felt relief in my knee on the side, very noticeable. Omg gonna be doing these hip exercises forever. So glad I found this video.
I thought I was possibly going To have to stop weight training because of the pain I’m having in my knees. Now that you mention this about weak hips this makes perfect sense. I never thought of this. I have been so focused on my knees. Thank you for doing this video.
This makes so much more sense! I have a metal plate in my left hip from a childhood accident. And now that I'm working out my knees have been hurting so much! This is gonna help so much!
So, I've been having knee pain off and on for months. It comes for a week or two then goes away if I rest it. Anyways, this time I started strengthening my glute medius and it's amazing! After only a few days, my knee stopped popping and grinding. going to keep strengthening the glutes and I think I'll be good! Thank you!!!
I have pain in one knee. Tried that "Jane Fonda" exercise you suggested. I happened to do the not in pain leg first and got to 42 reps before fatigue and a burn at starting at 46. Then tried the hurt side. Fatigue started at 12 reps and serious burn at 14. I got to 50 eventually. After 5 minutes of rest I could squat without a since, and my natural out-turned foot stance was less pronounced. Thais was immediate improved internal rotation of the legs from the hip. Thank you.
I had see the doctor but they still didn’t relieve my knee pain. In the end, I Google it and finally this video really help my knee pain. Thank you Jeff👍🏻
Excellent excellent video. Even from doing this for about 20 reps and squatting right after helped my lower quad and patella pain somewhat go away. PS you deserve all the 6 million subscribers that you have. Quality quality content. Love this channel!
Jane Fonda leg raise on first try. Left leg : 36 Right leg: serious burn started at 16 reps, and I took 1 sec break there, on 25 and finished again with 36 reps.
Holy cow! I tried the Jane Fonda leg lift and got to 15 on both legs and it burned like crazy! After only doing just that, 15 reps on both sides, my knee pain has been reduced probably 75%!!! I am absolutely going to include some glute medius training in my routine because I am super weak there! THANK YOU JEFF!!!!!!
I am experiencing pain in the muscles in the back of my left knee. I had an xray done and they say I have an effusion (water in the joint) and scheduled me for a visit to an Orthopedist. I tried this hip movement excersise and immediately the pain is better. Thus man with Athlene X is a great guy. He is right about the cause of this problen. I also got excellent results from his vedio about lower back pain. Awesome. Thank you very much.
I started getting pain constant pain while playing soccer for the first time weekly. This immediately got rid of my pain. I will incorporate this exercise rutine in the gym and warm ups before playing.
I legit did 3 sets until I couldnt take the burn and i purposely did a body weight squat putting pressure on my knees and i was giggling like a girl because there wasn't any pain or discomfort lol
Wish I had seen this 15 years ago. Would have never stopped working out, running, and playing basketball. I thought I had cartilage or meniscus damage. Got an MRI recently and found out it's just poor tracking in one knee (my less used leg for jumping in basketball for over a decade) giving me patellar tendonitis/inflammation and caused by weak glutes and hips. Hoping the PT exercises along with this can get me back to being able to run and jump without fear again.
Wish I had watched this video before... My right knee is in pretty bad condition right now. Frequently popping and painful during flexion. Will try this Jeff! Thanks.
That “girly” exercise you mentioned actually felt really good to do for my knee pain, I think I have what you’re talking about with weak hips I have a bad knee and doctors didn’t know how to help me, they just told me I had a tendon that went over my knee or something like that I’m going to look for more videos for exercises for weak hips, I think they will help me a lot
@@akl3056 not entirely, but it’s a lot better now for sure My knee used to be so delicate that if I did anything stressful, even walking for too long I would start limping it was embarrassing. I don’t use this exercise really but I learned something similar from another video. You use an exercise band like this video but instead you hold what’s called a Mexican sitting squat while opening your legs with a band around them and hold that pose for 45 seconds, 5 sets. It’s like pretending to sit in a chair without the chair. That really helped out. And also another thing that helped was building up my quad strength again, my legs were really weak and that was definitely a factor. I used Bulgarian split squats to build them up and it helped tremendously as well. I took my time building up weight on those though, I started not too heavy at first and now I’m able to go a lot heavier for sure, my knee isn’t as bad but it’s still not 100%. I would say like it’s at maybe 70% now as compared to before feeling like 15 or 20 lol I’m still careful though, I don’t think it’ll ever actually be gone

This is so right. I had a knee replacement on right side, two weeks in left knee got bad due to overcompensation and gait. A few months later after suffering with bad knee pain, knee cap tracking issues, along with pt I started doing clam shells and the side leg lifts you mentioned every night before going to bed. About a week or two in I’m feeling better. My gait is getting better, the pressure on my surgical side knee and other side feels more even. I also did some other flute exercises and foot also and I’m seeing so much improvement. Also after my surgery developed Morton’s neuroma on non surgical side foot. The whole thing was so out of whack. I

Thank you!!

Hi , how much time did it take to get rid of the knee pain?
It’ll be easier on your joints too.
u got it bro! Veganism makes it 10x faster

Thank you.

Is your knee pain gone?
@@akl3056 not entirely, but it’s a lot better now for sure
My knee used to be so delicate that if I did anything stressful, even walking for too long I would start limping it was embarrassing.
I would say like it’s at maybe 70% now as compared to before feeling like 15 or 20 lol
I’m still careful though, I don’t think it’ll ever actually be gone
