Nick, Therysa, your channel is fantastic! It is such a pleasure to watch. Not only have I learned so much about sailing from your channel but I find watching your videos to be a major stress reliever during a stressful time in my life! Thank you so much for everything!!! I look forward to your next video each and every week.

Such a wonderful thing to say- we used to watch sailing videos during the stressful times when we were living in London. Kinda crazy to think we’re now providing the same escapism for others!

Love your videos ! Unfortunately, most of the other sailing channels that I have been watching for years are getting tired and boring or have run off the tracks and are getting weird, but I still absolutely love watching the Ruby Rose sailing on and you two keep me coming back for more every time.

Another great episode guys. Before we became liveaboards we used to watch nearly every sailing channel out there. Now data is a premium we have to be frugal lol. Your channel is now one of the very few we watch, and I have to say it's become our favourite. Have a great day.

Bloody great episode Captain Nick and Theresa, your episodes at sea are the best, quite inspiring ...and it’s good to see your safety at sea discipline with life jackets and tether are RYA text book, you set the bar at a high quality level and are educating the youngsters on how to do this safely who are watching intently all around the globe . Cheers from SV Breezy 🌬⛵️🌏

    • @sailingrubyrose
      @sailingrubyrose  6 лет назад +1

Cheers mate. It drives me nuts when we see sailors never wearing life jackets. I personally don’t give a monkeys nut if they drown themselves, but then the people trying to rescue them put themselves in danger. More importantly it teaches poor seamanship to people that follow them on social media.
As previously pointed out, when it’s flat calm, when we are all on deck and when I am cooking in the galley, I will sometimes sit under the spray hood in the companionway while I wait for the dinner to cook. But never more than that.

Loving the channel guys - it is inspiring us to start planning for our own adventure in retirement.
Maybe one for your Q&A: Can you talk about how you deal with risk/reward with the weather, ie, if you saw a nasty weather pattern coming up but that enduring it would knock, say, 4 days off your passage, how would you make that call? What are the factors you would consider?

Great video. Questions for the Q&A. How do you get the weather data at sea without using loads of data, is special software used to stop excess internet traffic?
What needs to be different with the boat to make it faster? obviously, a different boat but in what way.
With all the planning that you did was anything forgotten / could have been done better.
If doing the crossing again what would you do differently?

Great channel guys, I binge watched every episode! LOL The music is fantastic, I would suggest to add a small caption about the music.....I see you get quite a lot of packages as well as your favorite brew in cardboard, I would be careful keeping cardboard on your vessel as there is a good chance the cardboard contains cockroach eggs and can easily intestate you living quarters. BTW congrats on your overall 8th on the ARC crossing!! Save sailings and keep it coming! J

We had so many friends that promised they would go and always found a reason not to. We made a resolve when we bought the boat. Nick, 400nm is probably a better number to rely on for helicopter range. Even that would be right at the edge of the envelope for most operators without midair refueling. 450nm would be an absolute extreme stretch.

For Q&A: Do you like the combo of the code zero and the para sailor sails, I know those para sailors are pretty expensive. If you had to do it over again would you purchase both sails or go with one over the other. Do you use one more than the other? I know they have different purposes. Thanks!

Hi I Nick, Teryse. SAILS: Note you fly a Parasailor (expensive!) What would you change, if anything in Ruby Rose's sail plan?
Cutter rig (inner forestay?) and/or twin jib's as opposed to Parasailer given the flexibility and ease of use with shorthanded crew? Also, what storm sails, if any, does Ruby Rose have at her disposal? Like any sensible sailor you have sailed away from 40kt winds & 18ft sea troughs, but what if you were given no options but to endure the storm?

Great question- we'll answer all that in our Q&A because it's quite a big subject and a lot of people has asked us about sail plans ☺

It would be interesting to hear how exactly you are getting and or downloading the weather forecast. I mean very exactly, if possible of course. Are you using the SSB for that or an iridium phone? Or ekse? Thanks a lot.

Same question we had. Is that the Perfect Wind app? How are you connected out in the middle of the Atlantic. Can’t wait for the q&a
