This is one of the best tutorial videos I have ever seen on RUclips. You know what you’re talking about, you edited it tightly, your delivery is clear and direct without a thousand “um...uh...I mean...no, this button not that one” etc. and THANK YOU for not adding pointless, too loud music that’s impossible to hear you over! Excellent work. Very informative and not wasting my time.
Super awesome tutorial! The only thing is, that I can't get it to light up the individual pads, only the menu bottons on othe sides, any idea what I did wrong?
how do you find the input profile for your hardware - i am trying to use the arturia beatstep pro and after a quick search i haven't been able to find one? thanks
I can’t get this to work, I’ve got a clean install and no idea on how to use this lmao, I do everything up until the testing with the sliders, and I get nil, no light s on the launchpad, I’m a bit stuck here haha
I was thinking about buying a multipurpose console with buttons knobs and motorized sliders. Do you think it could be possible to control those motorized sliders with qlc+?
Check to see if they are controllable via MIDI. I'm afraid I don't know, but do look up the documentation for the console, and see if there's anyone else who was able to make it work with something similar.
Thank you so much for putting this up Nate! With COVID stuck at home, I started mucking around with this and I was able get my launchpad and lighting fixtures working just like you did it. Amazing what you've done setting it all up! I am just not able to get the top row of round buttons to light (Up, Down, Left, Right, etc...) I've tried everything but no luck. I wonder if you came across this problem too? Cheers, Leo
Hey Leo, I'm glad you found my video helpful. I haven't ran into the issue of the top row not working on my launchpad, but you might try a firmware update on it, or you could try playing with the rest of the channels on the universe the launchpad is set to that aren't mapped in the fixture profile to see if they light up that row. By the way, are you using Launchpad Pro mkII or mkIII? Because If your using the newer launchpad, (newer than the one in the video) then there may be some tweaks needed to the interface process to make it work. Hope this helps!
@@nateslighting Thank you so much for responding Nate. It's very kind. I'm using a Launchpad Mk2. I updated the firmware and that didn't work and I tweaked channels 92 -99 which would be for those buttons but no luck. Here's a picture of my set up facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=3253295714709674&set=pcb.3253296518042927&type=3&theater Thank you so much for trying to help me Nate, I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. All the best to you friend.
Glad I could help! I think I see the issue now. The tutorial was made for the launchpad Pro, not Launchpad mkII, but I was very glad to see that this mostly worked on you launchpad type. I believe there are some differences between the two launchpad models (mkII and pro) so you might try using MIDI plugin instead of an entire universe, and use the custom feedback to make the lights on your launchpad work. I'm not sure if this will work but be sure to check out the documentation, and you might be able to figure this would with a little bit of experimenting. www.qlcplus.org/docs/html_en_EN/midiplugin.html Hope this helps!
Yes, absolutely! In the second and third videos of this how to series, I show how to make responsive light buttons. You can watch them here: ruclips.net/p/PLPf7D-Sp97Cod8jgoxu2HQ_mJjBON1PBN
Absolutely! You will need to check to see which channels light up each pad and map the names of the buttons to the inputs, with this in mind, You can create a Fixture definition for the lights: www.qlcplus.org/docs/html_en_EN/fixturedefinitioneditor.html and create the Input Profile: www.qlcplus.org/docs/html_en_EN/howto-input-profiles.html Hope this helps!
@@nateslighting Thanks! But what I understand is it a matter of trial and error? There is nowhere a list of which channel can light which button? So just try and see what happens?
@@nateslighting Do you know if it is also possible in Custom mode? I tried somethings but with custom mode when I made buttons in Novation Components it only use the 'on color' instead.
sorry, I'm not sure the launchpad mk2. You can go to the QLC+ forums and see if anyone else has made the launchpad mk2 work for them: www.qlcplus.org/forum/index.php
Hello, my name is Marco; sorry, as is possible in the virtual console qlc +, press a button to turn on the light of that button, press the button to turn off the light of that button. On / off button = on / off button light Thank you
Yes it is. Although I can't really show you how in a comment. I'm planning on posting some videos in the near future on how to do that including some other helpful tips and tricks with the launchpad pro and QLC+. Stay tuned and thanks for asking!

This is a really great tutorial. I have a launchpad S, does this tutorial work with it?
Thanks! Don't know about much about the Launchpad S. It's worth a try.
5:08 how did you do the color selection?

is this possible with the launchpad mk2?
Great tutorial!!😊
Do I need the Pro or can I use the Mk2?
how do you find the input profile for your hardware - i am trying to use the arturia beatstep pro and after a quick search i haven't been able to find one? thanks
I had to map the input profile myself using QLC+.
