According to Steve Williams, the tournament changed at 35:23. Steve asked him if he wanted to continue after the shot in the rough hurt him and Tiger said "I'm winning this fucking tournament."
He actually said “Fuck You Stevie”… followed by what you just said.
WE LOVE THIS SHOT BY SHOT STYLE WITH NARRATION
Greatest back 9 I’ve ever seen in golf was in the 3rd round. My goodness it was breathtaking. I live in the Chicago area so it was around 9-10pm when he was finishing his back 9 but I did not go to sleep until his eagle putt dropped on 18. It was well worth staying up for. And then Dan Hicks quote gave me goosebumps. “Get the knee up on ice Tiger. You’ve got another 54 hole lead in a major championship and I don’t think he’s attained that kind of position quite like he did today. This has been absolutely remarkable”.
Dan Hicks is class
That putt he dropped on 13 was exactly why he is the best to ever do it. I often say if I had a Time Machine the first thing I would do is make sure he never met that Swedish nanny.
Rocco, smiling the whole way. Good dude.
Johnny miller was one of the best announcers ever, his level of golf knowledge is incredible. He doesn’t get enough credit sometimes. Miss you in the MIC Johnny, also shoutout to my boy Roger what a legend as well.
Holds the course record at Oakmont with 63..truly a golf legend and superb commentator
I was there for the second and third round of the 2008 US Open. I was on the 14th hole in round 3 where the drives would land. I stayed there until Tiger came through where I was. Before Tiger made the putt on 13, it was a little quiet except for a few people that were in the crowd near me. Then the noise on 13 started to grow and grow, and it took a few seconds before the loud noise reached where I was.
Unfortunately Tiger’s tee shot on 14 landed about 10 yards behind me, so I was miffed about that.
Fun to watch. Played Torrey Pines so many times in late seventies/early eighties. I remember 6 Bucks? Maybe that was the twilight fee? I ain't that good, but I shot my best round ever on South course, 85. Plus, I got to watch Arnold Palmer play the North course. Watching him play was a thrill.
If only it still was 🤣
@@philipcrow3806 - Loved it. Played the downtown course at Balboa Park, too. Now, it's about $30/40 where I play, which I guess ain't bad for 40 years later.
1:20:55 “this is the left knee here !”
Jonny Miller loves his circles 😂
Of all his achievements, this goes down in my book as his greatest. A U.S. Open with 5 rounds on a seriously injured knee is a feat no other could accomplish.
You’re wrong. Mr Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than an hour ago
THANK YOU for uploading....very very enjoyable...JUST GREAT to watch entire championship.!!!
Greatest major tournament of all time
There have been far greater major tournaments that have taken place that you have no clue about, obviously.
number 1 is the 2019 masters number 2 is jack in 86 number 3 is 2008 us open number 4 is phil in 2021
Close 2nd to PGA Championship at Valhalla. Tiger 🐅 vs Bob May playoff
@@jonm6244 Did you just start watching golf or something?
No it’s one of the greatest 5 2008 US Open 4 2019 Masters 3 2021 PGA 2 2001 Masters 1 1986 Masters
props to the USGA for puting this together so well, I love the way they're periodically flashing over to the other contenders shots. Great Job!
2:11:48 I watched this live and it was unbelievable. I mean the tension was real. Then BAM! Rolls in a bouncing putt to force a playoff, which is harder to do than if you were tied since you can still miss and play on.
One of the greatest videos on this platform, thank you
i really am appreciating all of these fast facts. Is it wrong to hide from your family on Xmas to watch golf videos alone? Asking for a friend.
why has there not been a playoff since 2008, mind boggling!
Wow this alone justifies RUclips's entire existence, for real
Try
For sure
I love watching Tiger win. And Bill Murray is at every green yelling, GET IN THE HOLE. Awesome!
Classic Bill Murray 😂
I remember this! I called off sick Monday and watched the entire playoff round at my girlfriend’s. I was a huge Tiger fan, but found myself pulling for Rocco as the round neared it’s end. What a great U.S. Open!!!
Im pretty sure youre one of many people who called off that Monday lol
Big Tiger fan and wanted Tiger to win; however, I wouldn’t have been overly upset if Rocco won.
Thanks for this. Broke it up and watched the whole thing in three days. :-)
Am so glad this video does NOT hv the asinine comments on the screen...often covering the hole itself (at the bottom of the screen!). So didn't watch any such videos of past matches.
Amazing though that Tiger was so far back in the first two rounds...I did watch the tourney live when it happened :)
2:12:39 Rocco DENIED.... like Bob May in 2000 @ Valhalla (Louisville, KY), he knew that was his best shot at winning his maiden major, and came up just a hair short. total heartbreak. Probably never gonna see another playoff like that again.
GO LAKERS!! 😂😂😂😂
Rocco's sunglasses are hilarious man looks ready for a night at the Roxbury
man was prolly faded
Please just upload full round broadcasts that’s all we want. Thats all we’ve ever wanted.

Thanks for showing this. So many memories. What an U.S. Open and win for Tiger on broken leg and bad knee...
Watch the documentary it’s amazing. It’s on RUclips
It's also good for young/new fans of tiger to watch what we been raving about for about 25 years lol.
Thank you so much for this upload. This is the greatest golf video ever. Three hours of the greatest golf ever played in history. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thanks
1:16:27 The way he played this hole, we men may once in a lifetime if we are between the ages of 16 and 35.
This tournament was better than most...better than most!! ...BETTER THAN MOST!!!!!
I dont care how many times I've seen that #18 putt it still gives me chills hearing that roar
Let’s ph
Such a great video to watch, Ian such a funny man and good golf…well done guys
Body hurting. Mind clicking on all cylinders. What a round!
Nice story, some shots absolutely incredible!
This is what we are missing. This is what we probably will never see again. ELECTRICALLY charged golf.
Thank you, thank you, thank you USGA💥🎊🎉
Thank you for uploading this!
I so wanted Rocco to win this in 2008, when I am watching it now in 2022, I still wanted him to win. Two truly great sportsmen.
Btw USGA, Great upload!! Could you all please produce additional "all shots" tournament videos (especially Tiger's?) Lol. The hour shorts are fantastic, however many of TW's charges and great shots were made in the early rounds and the short films didn't always capture them. For example, were Tiger say at the end of the first round 5 shots back even par, to the second round segment of him being at 8 under at the top of the leaderboard without seeing the shots of his advance, save his killer daggers. That being said THIS ALL SHOT(S) VIDEO TOTALLY KILLS IT!!! How about the 100th U. S. Open at Pebble Beach? Thank you U.S.G.A!!!! This is why I'm subscribed!
Hi Craig- thanks for the support! It's not quite every shot he hit, but our History Makers episode about Tiger's 2000 performance shows his best moments from each round and can be found here: ruclips.net/video/dgf0dQbemvc/видео.html
@United States Golf Association (USGA) Thanks for the excellent video; it's nearly as exciting as when I watched it live. If you ever go back and edit the audio again, please remove the audio of individuals who are alone screaming "in the hole" or "one time" (particularly on the par threes); it's not only annoying, but the sudden jump in sound volume gives me a headache as I'm sure it does others. Thank you.
Realmente una delicia de ver a este gran Dios del Golf 😁
Great watch thanks
I know we’re all gonna remember 🐅 but the groupings for this Open was special. 1-2-3 in the OWGR (TW, Phil, Adam) and then throughout the event every 1st & 2nd round tee time was fun. Would be awesome if someone could FU with them @usga?
I'm hoping Tiger wins. Fingers crossed everybody!
That brief interview was great
Yes agreed. All we want is the original broadcast. That's all
You can find the entire final-round and playoff telecasts, uninterrupted, on the free USGA OnDemand app, available on your Connected TV and mobile devices. More info here: www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/stream-the-usga-on-roku-and-appletv-ott-golf.html
Both guys totally buzzing after the tournament trying to do interviews...😂😅 I love Golf!!!
That tip of the Scotty tap in was so GOAT-LIKE
*Hits one of the best recovery shots ever that only a few humans ever could do*
"How would you describe the second shot on hole one"
"Pin high"
"Can you give us a little more?"
"8 iron, pin high"
Tiger was built different.

Tiger Woods 🐅..."The Sunday Assassin""....And Dim Sum. G.O.A.T
imagine being rocco and just having this story to tell.
The massive eagle putt and the chip-in!
1:02:16 “he misses those once every 10 years” 😂
No wonder so many look up to this man on the golf course... truly iconic.
This guy is relentless...
He is a genius at getting out of trouble. That's to me what makes him so phenomenal at this game...!
I remember watching him and Rocco go head to head, I always liked Tiger Woods, but I must admit I wanted Rocco to pull it out.
Same tiger has enough trophies lol
nah go big cat
Rocco was on a tear! It was the only time I didn’t care who won…
52:16 a buddy and I are standing just off camera to the left, about 50ft back on the balcony of the Lexus Tent. The dude looked in so much pain walking up to that tee. Or so I remember, it was open bar.
2:50:55 crucial shot
Anyone else watching this for about the 10th time??
Can anyone explain to me the lack of low scores? I just started keeping up with golf over the past few years, and it just surprised me that the leaders in this US open weren’t posting low scores like I see all the time today
US Opens are notorious for being the toughest tests, but today's versions have been noticeably "easier" based on course setup.
US Opens from earlier years had an emphasis on long rough and baked out greens to keep scores near even par. If you find highlights, look at the 2006/2007 US Open for a serious look at a brute of a tournament.
THANK YOU
Woah!!! Amazing upload!! “There’s the uppercut fist pump!”
PGA Tour is nearly dead when you look at tournaments like this.. TIger v Roko... they dont make them like this anymore. The PGA Tour is in desperate need to be revitalized.
Love him or hate him, Johnny Miller knows golf.
Was a fine player as well..holds the course record at Oakmont with 63..the guy is legit
The start of the Saturday charge! 1:16:16
I’m not sure what was better: the actual putt or the reaction of the gallery. That roar still gives me chills to this day.
Tiger Woods 4th Round Recap - Going from failing miserably to achieving greatly.
Came here while reading Steve Williams' book
“This is as fast as cold maple syrup.” ☠️🤣
Rocco is just such a awesome guy
Watch the documentary on RUclips it’s amazing. Made me a huge fan of Rocco
golf is my life
Anyone else losing it at the subtitles saying "daddy" instead of "Dotti"?
1:20:52 - phew, thanks for the anatomy lesson. Helped me understand the complexity of what a left knee was.
@24:50 crazy to see 125 club and 185 ball speed.
Golf is the last of the real gentlemanly games!
Holy crap that Nike Sasquatch driver !!! The sound frequency of that thing might've injured TW ! 😂
1:20:54 amazing use of the telestrator by Johnny Miller
Wait Tiger was getting 185 ball speed with that club. Wtf
His distance advantage in those days was something.
Rocco’s swing looks so lazy & laidback 😂 brilliant
God bless tiger 🐅
I believe Rocco could have won this if he had concentrated on being more competitive than just laughing and having a good time. Appleby and Rocco pretty much gave this away. Congrats Tiger
I’m a big tiger fan but fair play to Rocco he played really well
The back 9 of the third round… my God
Tiger had a deal with the the camera watch me grimace every time I hit a bad shot . Don't watch me for the two rounds I hit good shots because I walk just fine after those
He won injured. That’s real stuff.
as a San Diegan, I will say there is nothing special about torrey pines, we've always said if this course was 20 minutes inland it would be a $40 round, still cool to watch the tour play the course
It pretty much is 40 a round if you live in the city limits. The setting alone makes it worth double that. Shitty places like The Vineyard are about 80 and Torrey clears that by multiple times.
1:14:53 1:16:25 When and where the tournament dynamic changed.
Was 2008 the first year people from the crowd shouted "get in the hole" or did it come earlier?
G.O.A.T.
1:39:10 Roger Maltbie is absolutely hilarious
You guys came to watch Tiger, I'm here to appreciate the PRO TRACER
Just fuvking EPIC!!!
2:12:25 #18 Putt 🐐
let's GOOOO
Rocco is a class act. Seems like a chill dude to hang out w/.
2:39:54 don't understand how he got that much spin he barely went after it
This is the best way to watch golf. Tiger-centric. Otherwise I can't watch golf.
Can you do Bryson (2020) please
Here you go! ruclips.net/video/Y8TwThFLuu0/видео.html
*hits perfect drive*
"Aaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhh!!!"
Tiger best grinder I've ever seen
I swear if Tiger wasn’t injured he would have won this by 3-4 strokes with no playoff. The fact he forced a playoff is absurd. Playing tiger one on one in a playoff to win…impossible task
Walked the earth. Felt the elements… talked to the wind… connected with 2 fathers… believed in self… drank of his own ego to sickening heights withOUT remorse… self actualized to the betterment of the germ of grassroots and the super elite naïveté… a raw…pleasure…. Behold him rejoicing in his precious youth…
