The more I think about it, the more I think nerfing claws will hurt chaos teams severely. The whole balance of the meta revolves around the idea that dwarves are tougher but chaos does more dmg. As it's proposed now, Mighty Blow completely overshadows claws in most situations. I think a better solution would be to nerf mighty blow instead:
    Claws: +1 to Av rolls
Mighty Blow: +1 to injury rolls.
There, now bow skills are useful in all situations without ever being overbearing. The combo is still deadly, but not as deadly as it is now. Both skills are also shorter to read and easier to understand. In essence, you nerf MB instead of claws which affects all teams equally instead of just chaos teams in particular.

    • @BoneheadPodcast
      @BoneheadPodcast  4 года назад +1

That’s very rational 😁 I actually really like that idea, I think they missed a trick! Could even have made Claws (1/2/3) then as well!

Doesn't the TD count adding to winnings thing buff fast teams and nerf slow teams? Feels like that'd hurt dwarves for example

    • @BoneheadPodcast
      @BoneheadPodcast  2 года назад

That's a great way to look at it, but if we take leagues in the older edition - the heavy teams tended to get more money than they could ever spend. This change just makes it a little less bad for the light teams (they'll be able to afford to replace their decent players faster)!

On goblins: Bombardier also got mighty blow on all explosions and being able to guarantee HMP by saving for a secondary skill makes him better (maybe actually playable now). Throw teammate can now knock over multiple players in a single throw (getting very lucky on scatters 😅) and you can throw prone goblins. Fanatic slightly buffed in that he can’t fail to pickup the ball (auto scatter now) and he ignores foul appearance, sneaky git got double buffed and is prob a solid normal skill to take, projectile vomit is technically a buff but is mostly worthless (if you want to go pro on trolls it’s a little better), New inducement options for bribery and corruption teams, even though pogo seems kind of lackluster its maybe the best leaping skill now and is great for jumping over prone players. Overall I think they’re better and I’m very excited to play them, only thing I’m disappointed in is the increased costs changing how I build the team but I think almost everyone is gonna have to deal with that. I’m hoping more tournaments go to 1100 or 1150.

Why all those price hikes for Necromantic?
As I recall they were already tier 2, sure the higher end.
Yet now without Wights that can interact with the ball, there are effectively only 4 players on the team for ball handling, that's 2 less than Undead.
And two of those want to do your Blitzing.
Didn't they nerf Claws? So why exactly did werewolves need a price increase?

1:38:10 I don't get why you really need that Orc Thrower, unless early in a league. They are slower and have less armor.
Just give a Blitzer sure hands and he is the perfect runner.

Imagine a skaven runner, hiding behind rat ogre against dwarfs and they spread a little too wide. One knockdown and leap over the runner will have 6 movement left while be the other side of the dwarfs so they just run forward, 2GFI (rush) and they cannot be tackled that turn unless someone left a dwarf back. I think there be a learning curve to set up and playing but I do think the new rules will impact teams differently, especially as jumping prone players is an AG roll

21:50 How are Dark Elves not loosers in this edition?
Their offensive strength used to be that they don't have any dedicated passer/receiver. Sure they still are wanting to make the running game yet now your two turn score has become a lot more difficult because you can't just run towards the LoS and give it to any player you were able to free up and still make a 2+ Quick Pass or 3+ Short pass. Now your staring down a 4+ Quick Pass, 5+ Short Pass.
I get it that having a 2+ 2+ Quick Pass is too good to get a CP and 1 SPP yet IMHO the elves are the big loosers in general for this edition. Maybe if you try the random skill carousel and skim off TV is the best way to develop Elves, as they still can hand off a TD to any elf.
I just don't get it why passing had to be nerfed, as it was already one of the most dangerous play options to begin with and nobody build around that anyways, at least competitive players didn't.

I wonder how much of a risk there is that the game just becomes an entirely running meta.
The big advantage of elf teams was that even if you're down players (not exactly unheard of) but you manage to get the ball away from the opposition anyone could be the hero that still wins the game due to AG4. If they lose that I worry that only the best bashing teams will be used.

@@BoneheadPodcast I do wonder why you guys came to the conclusion that you want to have 2 Throwers? I would say, why pick up the ball with a Thrower when I now have to pass an additional test to give it to the guy I actually want to have carrying the ball? I could just have the Blitzer pick up the ball and run with it right away, with the Thrower picking up the ball you gain a free re-roll on the 3+ pick up, but you add having to roll a 2+ Animosity and a 3+ hand-off catch to get it to the Blitzer that you want carrying the ball... Unless you, for some inexplicable reason, want the slower Orc with less armor and no Block skill to carry the ball.
Animosity made the Orc Thrower unnecessary, might as well safe 10k and get the lineman with AV10+ instead. In an edition that was to make Thrower positionals more worth taking it did the exact opposite in the case of Orcs* imho.
*I also fear that since the Passing skills got nerfed, the running game became even stronger and thus Throwers across the board became worse. I hope I am wrong, but looking at it, I feel GW made a fairly big game-design blunder...

I fail to see how the Lizzies got better with updated rules.
The fact that you can't start with 6 Saurus(Sauri ?) AND 3 rerolls is a big deal considering you have no Block to start with and your Skinks are average Agility-wise.It's not like with Dark Elves where you have 4 Blitzers,Ag 2+ across the board and easy access to Dodge.
The changes to Break Tackle(which were fair I think) are probably felt by Lizzies more so than any other.Gone are the days when your Ag 1 Saurus was dodging on a 2+.
They are still probably one of the strongest teams but I think they are clearly weaker than before, even though they are much more on par with the others in terms of passing.

I think their negativity toward Nurgle is overblown. Their most vital player is cheaper, and their fodder linemen ARE worse, but the price cut makes a notable difference on their starting roster. A 3 Bloater/3 Pestigor start is attainable in league, and they have a lot more options for tournaments now.

@@TheKeksmuzh I took them last season and am not sure I fancy repeating that experience until they develop some ball handling skill, or maybe I'm sour that I placed 60th in a sixty participants league. My first game this season will be with my speedy Orcs on Tuesday so I'll let you know how that works out with all four Goblins in the team.

Concerning the Imperial Nobles. Lacking 2 Blitzers and the overcisted blitzers lacking Dauntless just kills the team.
Just let old Bretonnia back and dump this pile if crap.
Really my only gripe with the edition. Oh that and the animosity in the old Orc team. Completely uncalled for!

GW has lost it, first they replace Bretonnia (working team) with Imperial Nobility thats just worse. Losing two blitzers for an ogre is a terrible tradeoff. Bretonnia was pretty decent up to 1500 TV. Then we have the OWA team was mixed before (with same skills and no animosity or loner) and still only did decent and lost there flair around 1500 TV as most teams without agi4 or str4. So why do they keep adding pointless teams? For me OWA needed solid players, because they cannot blitz-choke with a single human blitzer... for me fun idea but they kinda took the fun out of it.
Oh and also i don't like the changes to the human team with the addition of halflings, i guess it's a way to just sell more models.

you do not need permission from GW to use your regular teams lol :D on top there are plenty brilliant fanmade bloodbowl ruleset/s out there. Those will always be better than anything GW could put out.

Chaos Renegades are much worse than before. The thrower is a terrible and overpriced player, and the lack of Strength skills on your lineman greatly reduces their ability to keep up against bash teams.
