I'm trying to donate to get you back to NF NY but none of my cards are working. This year has been wreckless. 14 murders this year. Highest ever in history. You gotta hit the block and interview people about it. Total population around 48k. A chick just got killed yesterday while at a memorial for another murder victim. I've never seen it this high. Normally it's like 3 to 6 at most bodies a year. Its been 14 so far and counting.

@@mysticbeing6768 oh shut up. Dude is driving around Treme, Claiborne, and St Claude and you see potholes and buildings tagged. I grew up in the 7th Ward in New Orleans and went to high school in Treme/the 6th Ward. So much of those pics look familiar! Like very little has changed in all those years. I moved and went to college elsewhere, but I'll never forget these streets
Treme has gotten crazy expensive. Parts of the 7th are starting to get expensive too. Lots of folks are getting priced out and moving to the westbank and NOLA East.
Its actually a gentrified neighborhood, that was Treme in the beginning, then he rode through the Marigny/French Quarters which is NOT a hood. Those are 500k to million dollar homes. The 3rd leg was the 7th ward, the better part of it, on Bayou Road, off of Esplanade, that area has also been heavily gentrified and a lot of those homes are 500k on up also.
@DefinitelyNotDan those "junk" homes are actually homes built in the 1700's, 1800's, and early 1900's. This video does not do them any justice. They are beautiful homes that have stood the test of time, and the architecture is one you can only find in France, and Spain. I suggest you look into it, before judging it as junk, better yet come down when covid is over and see for yourself. No need to be ignorant.
The French Quarter and Marigny are on highground. They were built in the late 1700s-1800s in areas that didn't flood. Also, a lot of those buildings were built with cypress wood which doesn't rot and can last centuries.
I was raised in New Orleans. Before Katrina many of these n'hoods were really rough looking, but after Katrina the gentrification started and these homes were fixed up. Big improvement.
Some different responses here, but if you mean tangibly unique, I noticed that for as run down as some of those areas are, there sure are a lot of cars, and many are newer and nice cars. It's different from Charlie's videos of other cities, where trashed out cars are common. It could also be the density of the homes. Not very many side yards or spaces between the homes. I also noticed that outside of some park areas, there's not much in the way of shrubs, trees, or grass. The area he was driving in was just so compact. Much different from a St. Paul or Detroit neighborhood, where by comparison there are huge yards and lots of trees and grass.
Its a city issue. Roads in these neighborhoods are JUST not starting to be paved properly with a few just a block or two away from where this video drives by. Even some of the super rich neighborhoods had some of the worst roads you have ever seen until just a couple years ago.
I will occasionally do some in the future, they are time consuming because I have to make repeated trips to the same location at certain times to catch action. Don't have as much time nowadays. People think I walk in and instantly catch all that anytime. occasionalIy I do but it's not like that even in the worst areas.
