  • In today's video, we'll be discussing the 15 unfinished and cut quests that never made it into the final version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion! These quests can all be found and referenced on the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages. These quests range from what could have been very short, 2 or 3, journal entry quests, guild missions and tasks that were entirely swapped out, potential extra details and objectives for the Mythic Dawn, all the way to what the grand scale plans of the Arena were originally intended to be. Most of these cut quests take place in the 9 major cities, Chorrol, Skingrad and the Imperial City seem to have had the most cut out of them. Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe!

While a lot of these quests would have been cool, by leaving hints in the game it makes Cyrodiil feel much more lived in. Things go and people live their lives without the direct interaction of the player, and I think thats pretty neat!

yup, and unused systems which the toxic crowd love to point as laziness, are actually great for modders to make use of (also, most unfinished or unused systems left in have nothing to do with laziness, some are even examples of quite the opposite).

When I was exploring I came across an unmapped/uncharted large house somewhere in the west Weald. There were bandits living in it and I have no idea what was the intention for the house or why it’s not located on the map. Please let us know if you have come across it and what your speculation is about it’s existence.

If it’s the house I think it is, it’s one of the spots where an oblivion gate can spawn. The gate actually destroys the house as a nice little setpiece.

That house is also the in world location of the dream world (from that mages guild quest in Bravil)
If you're ever doing that quest and you're in the dream world just open your world map and it will show you're in that location

If you use the speech minigame to reduce Eugel Ballette's disposition to zero he will agro you. Do this in front of the town guard for a good show.

with Bethesda rereleasing skyrim a million times, it would have been nice for them to do the same with oblivion! add all the cut content and then some. maybe some more expansion packs!

Nah that would take way too much work for Bethesda, they ain't doing that. Instead they'll just break mod compatibility in Skyrim to try once again monetizing mods. You're supposed to give them money for the least work possible, your mistake is thinking Bethesda gives a shit about you as a consumer.

There are rumors of a remaster of the game using unreal engine to render it alongside the creation engine. This was actually included in the Bethesda roadmap that was leaked in the Microsoft acquisition FCC court case, but who knows if they're still working on it. Even if they do remaster oblivion I think it would be only graphical, I doubt they'd go back and add cut content, especially if that would require getting the old voice cast back to record new dialogue.

I knew about some cut content quests from your or other youtuber's videos already (working in High council with Ocato, Arena faction).
Some clues I did find myself when I tasked myself to check all houses in the game just for fun, like Eugal Belette having his little Mythic Dawn shrine in his own basement, felt like it had to be involved somewhere in some kind of quest, the haunted house in Skingrad, Lazare Milvan having weird conversation about you being a low birth, the village/settlement north of Leyawiin not involved in any quest whatsoever what was strange as I believe every other village/settlement is involved in some kind of quest. (I still didn't find the Rosethorn Hall hourglass treasure quest despite checking all the houses though, despite that it has journal entries :D). But there is so much more! I had no idea, great info for sure.

      @ironscalp484 7 месяцев назад

Lol, my friend, that one is a bit tricky if you don't know where to look
When you're in the rosethorn hall basement, check the top diagonal struts of the first support beam you see in the middle of the room
The hourglass will be lodged in there and once activated you receive a generic hourglass, some random gems and a unique ring iirc

New to this channel but tbf I’m surprised it doesn’t have more subscribers. I don’t watch much RUclips for entertainment as I’m usually too busy working or training but when I wanna just chill and unwind before bed I like content like this. I grew up playing Skyrim but when I played Obliviom I genuinely thought it was the best game ever. I love seeing content creators like this who make interesting videos about abstract concepts in these games. Keep up the good work brother, can’t wait to see you go viral

Cut and/or unfinished quests are always interesting to me; it's pretty cool to imagine what could've been, had the developers been given enough time/resources. Since there's so many non-quests here, I'm just gonna give my brief thoughts on them, instead of devoting a massive novel to each one :P
---- 1: The Arenas: If I had to guess, the various arenas would've been different areas for the player to travel to and do separate quests for. These quests could've been simply more fights, or they could've been more complex dungeon-crawl quests (Like the "Origins of the Gray Prince", for instance). If they were more fights, Bethesda might've cut most of the arenas because they would've been redundant; there's just no point in making the player bounce from city to city just to do something that one
all-purpose arena could do. If they were more in the style of dungeon crawling, then Bethesda could've been worried that the Arena was getting too close to being a discount Fighter's Guild.
---- 2: Owyn's daughter: This is an interesting one, as both Owyn and someone named Branwen exist in-game, and both are Redguards. I can't think of a reason Bethesda would cut the quest (besides time/budget constraints). But they also left the note there...
If I had to guess, I'd assume they cut out all the dialogue, but forgot about the note lying on the ground. And as someone who's attempted to make his own game in RPG Maker, stuff like that happens a lot more than you'd think.
---- 3: Do You Need Couriers: This basically sounds like it would've tasked the player with delivering newspapers. Which is something most players would've quickly concluded to be dull as dishwater. The only people I could think of are those who would like the idea of roleplaying as a paperboy, or people who want something to do while they do other quests (kinda like how some people pick up Nirnroot for Sinderion while they're doing other stuff).
The only somewhat sensible thing I can think of is that none of the cities were going to be "discovered" at the start of the game, requiring the player to walk to them before being able to fast-travel there (sort of like how Skyrim handles its major cities). In that case, the paperboy schtick would've been a way to subtly teach the player where all the cities are. But in the vanilla game, the player can go to any city they want right off the bat (even what's left of Kvatch), making such a quest pointless.
---- 4: Duke of Colovia: We have the developers explaining why the quest was cut, so I don't think I need to give you my two cents. But I will anyway :D
It could've been a cut quest _within_ the main quest. Like, say, right before/after "Allies for Bruma".
---- 5: Jagar Tharn's Cohorts: Considering that the prison was in Black Marsh, I like to think that one of the DLCs was going to involve the player going to Black Marsh at some point, only for it to be replaced with the Shivering Isles. And let's be honest, the Shivering Isles are 100% more entertaining :3
---- 6: Creatures around Dro'Shanji's House: This particular quest might've been cut because the developers were worried it was too similar to "Whom Gods Annoy". And in a manner similar to Owyn, they cut out the quest itself, but forgot a part of it; in this case, a line of dialogue. And the dialogue in question is from an _innkeeper,_ making it all the more likely the player will hear it. Which might indicate that the quest was cut close to Oblivion's release, but why it remains in the game to this day is baffling.
---- 7: The Red Queen: I got nothing, here. Mainly because there just isn't enough information to go on. Maybe there was going to be another dungeon with a Red Queen's lair, and the player would have to decide which one to side with? Eh, I'm just guessing, really.
---- 8: Eugal Belette: Thing is, he's not the only sleeper agent to have damning evidence of his affiliation; at least one other cult member, Hans Black-Nail (Bravil's castle smith) also has Mythic Dawn paraphernalia hidden in his room. But just like with Belette, there's no option to expose him to the town guard. It's possible that there was a hidden quest where the player could expose the Mythic Dawn agents before they had a chance to attack, but it was decided to be too overly-complicated.
---- 9: Oak & Crosier Shady Stuff: There is at least one shady thing that happens here: The aforementioned Eugal Belette has monthly meetings with Ulen Athram, another Mythic Dawn sleeper agent. Considering the dungeon music in the cellar, maybe a part of the cut quest with Belette was going to involve killing a bunch of Mythic Dawn agents down there during a meeting?
---- 10: Fingers of the Mountain: It became the Mages Guild Recommendation quest. Pretty much an open-and-shut case.
---- 11: Doran's Family Troubles: It's possible the developers cut this quest because they didn't want to have a glut of Ogre-related quests in the game. I mean, there's already The Potato Thief, Weatherleah, and Malacath's quest; not to mention at least two separate Fighter's Guild quests.
---- 12: Blankenmarch & the Azhklan Trolls: It seems to me there was supposed to be a separate quest involving the trolls here. Like you said, various Fighter's Guild members mention the "Blankenmarch job", so it seems like it was supposed to be the site of a quest. But after the quest was either cut or moved, Blankenmarch became some random town with no purpose.
---- 13: Nerastarel's House: This is probably the most perplexing one for me. First of all, it's named after a character that _doesn't even exist_ in-game (and we know it's not just a placeholder name, because during the Thieves Guild quest, "Lost Histories", Amusei casually refers to it as "Nerastarel's house"). Second: It's not out in the ass-end of nowhere, it's _right in the middle_ of *Skingrad,* one of the largest and most affluent towns in Cyrodiil. Third, and most baffling: Nobody mentions it. *AT ALL.* There's no rumors of a haunted house, or anyone mentioning Nerastarel being missing (or dead), or *anything.* That being said, it _is_ right next to Lazare Milvan's house, which has some pretty intriguing implications. Speaking of which...
---- 14: "Sir" Lazare Milvan: This seems like it might've been something similar to "Mazoga the Orc"; two characters who claim to be knights, without anything to actually back it up. If that's the case, Lazare would've been a great foil for Mazoga. See, Mazoga ultimately proves herself to be a pretty chill person, and even openly pleasant at times; Lazare also would've been abrasive at first, but unlike Mazoga, he would've been every bit as unpleasant as he initially appeared. It's possible Bethesda cut Lazare's quest because two different quests dealing with self-proclaimed knights would've seemed redundant.
Fun fact about "Sir" Lazare, however: There's a rat in his basement. And it's not just *ANY* rat either, it has _the most health of any rat in the ENTIRE GAME._ And it's literally just called, "Rat", like every other rat in the game. I think the super-rat in Lazare's basement might've played a part in his quest, but the developers either forgot about it, or deliberately left it there as an Easter egg.
---- 15: Alternate Kvatch: A work-in-progress that was changed before the game's official release. Pretty simple explanation.
    Edit: Fixed some typos.

My theory is that the quest involving the black and red queens was meant two be two of city countesses. If this is right then the reason it were cut because the roles of the two got changed at the last minute. The best fit for the red queen was the countess of cheydinhal, while the best fit for the black queen was the countess of skingrad. That's about as far as I could get in piecing it together.
