Devastation is a first-person shooter video game by American developer Digitalo Studios, released in 2003.
The game takes place in an impoverished, dystopian near-future Earth, pitting an underground group of rebels against an oppressive, all-powerful mega-corporation. It is an action-oriented first person shooter based on the Unreal Engine 2.0, that focuses heavily on team-based gameplay in both single-player and multiplayer.
The year is 2075. Instead of a bright and peaceful future, human civilization is in a state of polluted, dilapidated ruin akin to post-World War II Europe. A corrupt mega-corporation, Grathius Inc., controls the world by force, using pacification squads to kill any who oppose them.
The game's protagonist is Flynn Haskell, the leader of a small band of terrorists/resistance-fighters determined to rid the world of Grathius and their evil schemes.Later the player meets up with a female scientist Eve whom Flynn regards as the best helper he could get. Flynn, while exploring once, is captured and put into jail but successfully escapes with another resistance member named Duffy who also helps him in his next destination Urbia, as she is familiar with their resistance leader Tara.
The game's main plot revolves around a new technology developed by Grathius, nano-machinery based cloning, that allows the corporation to clone its fallen troops and gives them an unstoppable immortal army. As the game progresses, the player travels from San Francisco to Taiwan to Japan, recruiting new characters into the resistance and capturing Grathius cloning devices for their own personal use.

I remember playing this back in like 2007. The laser weapon was OP.
God damnit, the game was included in some game magazine back in 2005/2006, I remember getting it, and my brother scratching off the activation code by mistake, so we never got to play it... Searched for it for some 17 years, only found it now... And it doesn't look that bad at all :P
I remember playing this game when it came out, I remember it being one of the most bugged games I ever played, which was really frustrating because I enjoyed it a lot and it looked amazing for the time.
This game made graphics revolution as crysis. Many gamers nowadays would think I'm nuts, but just try to compare devastation with other 2000s games, it looks better that almost all games in those times

@@ronaldantoniopajuelorivera2045 i have devastation on windows 10. I think it doesn't depend on version of windows. When game came out in 2003 many gamers noticed that devastation is broken , has many problems with optimization and curvy physics of objects.
@@seniorbanana5135 It is a decent looking game, but graphics revolution as Crysis? Heck no. The game uses Unreal Engine 2, which was made by Epic Games and Epic had already released Unreal Tournament 2003 by that time. Plus that game looks much better than Devastation imho.

@@Sharpster441 I think it should be legal to download a "backup copy" if you are the owner of the original game but the disc is damaged. You already paid for it anyway. Just a thought.

is there an error displayed? what happens when you try to run it?
@@theriflemaan it won't run. No error. I was able to install from disc, but "setup" will not run to complete authorization to all the .Exe file to fire up... disc will not auto run
@@Protodead compatibility mode and/or running as admin doesn't do anything either? Maybe you can find a no disc crack online that makes it work
@@theriflemaan running as admin does not help. I tried compatibility mode for all versions of windows including the service packs. I suppose I can try to find a crack. Thanks

I bought the game late 2003, month/s later Digitalo's servers went down, community had to create own servers and they were visible thru ASE (All Seeing Eye). Dunno if it's still alive, that is over 15 years ago! Where are the Dutch people? Devastator, Bodhi, Mr/Ms Bond, Tupac etc. Most online gamers were from Holland, few from UK, the US gamers had left by the time ASE came. I was Triton. Btw, anyone can link to multiplayer clips? Remember TopOfTheRoof, Chinatown, Sewer?, uhmmm...the nasty underground subway map also LOL- My first MP game.
@@Triton67se I played this online too, I was Thrillkill. In FUK clan for a while. Multiplayer was great, some good maps and the one where you had to get the codes to enter the enemy base, I loved that

@@atifarshad7624 not really. Today's gaming standarts are pretty low, so mediocre games of the past are REALLY feels fresh and good now, even those which you never played before
@@Jackfromshack this game was and still is bad though, despite the lower gaming standards of today.
I think what got me about this game when I played it as a child was how detailed and branched maps were, the amount of different weaponry and how interactive everything is. I mean you can just forget the mission objective and go watch rat intestines in a microscope, or flood the sinks.
But yeah, shooting in this game feels unresponsive, ai is junky and balance is off.
I wish they would lean more into a immersive sim direction rather than just shooter.
