Thanks for another great money saver Lindsay. For all those in any country and in the UK who find it hard to get hold of the baby wipe travel container............use either an old DVD case or an old Video case, both work as well but the video case has a little more space between the two parts of the scrubbers. Happy crafting to one and all.
thanks Lindsay! great idea. going to make one! I did also just made myself a homemade MISTI stamping tool. Watched a video on how to make it. Turned out great, and cost me less than $25.00! Bought two 8 x 10 acrylic sheets at Lowes, two 2 inch long hinges, two 12 x 12" chipboard sheets and cut them down to be 8 x 10, and a hot glue gun! I glued the heck out of it, and it is not the most beautiful thing, but I covered the hinges like it shows in her video with glitter tape, and you know what, its fine, works good and was very inexpensive to make. I kept the 2 pieces of chipboard that you will have left over that you cut out of the middle of each piece, cut off just a bit off of one side on each of them and insert them when using clear stamps, and if you need to stamp using the thicker cling stamps, take them out and there you go! The instructional video is from Fay Lomman. Here it is. Maybe give it a try! ruclips.net/video/umhzvdNOZf4/видео.html
I love this idea. I'm always trying to think of different ways of doing things and this is something I have been looking for to clean stamps. I use a vegetable wash but didn't have a container. Thanks Lindsay....you are so creative and such a wonderful person for sharing your ideas. I appreciate what you do and how you treat people. You are very special.
I have the same thing, but I use Scotch double-sided tape to attach the paint pads to a rectangular-shaped plastic lid. I have two I rotate so when one is drying after cleaning with soap, I have another to use! Great idea and cheap! Merry Christmas!
GENIUS! I have a scrubber that I keep with my stamps, but putting them into one of my empty travel baby wipes with a 2nd one to dry them off? Genius I tell ya, GENIUS!
Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2015!!! Thanks for sharing a smile with each of your videos, as well as lots of crafting tips and knowledge.
Lindsay, have you tried making your own embossing powder colors? I was wondering if mixing pigments with a clear or white embossing powder would work. I'm in love with Perfect Pearls and Pearl Ex, so I purchased generic mica pigments at a fraction of the cost and have a collection of 24 colors now! I want to try it out, but don't have either white or clear embossing powder at the moment. If you have stuff on hand, would you give it a try?
Lindsay, thank you for all your ideas & tutorials. I was wondering if there is DIY recipe for cleaning stamps that have been stamped in Staz On ink? Thanks for your help. Betty
Hi Lindsay. As usual you come up trumps. What is the white thing again you said for painting walls or rather for not painting walls. Is there something else as we don't have a DIY store close. I live in Wales GB so usually you have to travel for things.Thank you xxx
I've just bought The Mini Absorber Synthetic Drying Chamois from Amazon to clean my stamps. Quite a few stampers on Splitcoastampers have recommended it because it takes the ink right off the stamp with just water. They actually cut a piece off and keep it in an airtight container. I just got mine a couple of days ago so will let you know.
Thanks for that. Been trying to figure out what the material was. Paint edger, why didn't I think of that. I did subscribe.Thank you for all you do for the crafts.
Hey, thanks for the frugal tip, I made one of those but never thought to use the paint edger from the hardware store, oh and for those of us watching u on an iPad, we see the comments in a column on the right (ur left) not that it matters, TFS!! Saving money is always welcome.
Love it!!! I was just wondering a few days ago if I could make something like this. I would love to see if you could replicate someething like the MISTI stamp press for clear stamps and cling stamps. Thanks for all of your wonderful videos!
Glad you made this. I never used a stamp cleaner pad..until a got on in a bag of stuff from thrift-store. I really loved it. Two weeks ago I misplaced it. I really miss it. Was going to buy one (too expensive) now I'll try this Anywhooo... just as I was thinking hum? I wonder if she has a stamp cleaning formula... then vuala!...lol So thank you. Saw you/you testimonial on Derral Eves Channel awhile back. Love his channel. (I'm not trying to grow my channel, although I love (parts of) marketing etc... he just has a lot of great info and tips tfs & Seasons Greetings ~~MarieMac~~.
Lindsay, did you make a second cleaner box for the clear stamps? You mentioned that you use baby shampoo to clean them. This is a great idea!!!! Thank you!
Do you work with polymer clay (femo)? I want to make a tub of cool whip key chain. I'm having a tuff time rolling and designing one. Can you show me some ideas how to make one? xoxo Debi
I read some of the comments that they couldn't find the containers, and neither could I until I went to the baby section in the supermarket, et voila! There they were! But they are getting scarce, I also saw another YT where she used a snap together container that held those swifter floor cloths. Hope that helps 😄
wolfwoman09 good idea, I think maybe now-a-days moms are making their own wipes or just using the large packs and not putting them in a small container.
Hi! I was wondering, do you have any problems with little fuzzies coming off the pad? I bought a German equivalent since I'm currently living here, but it sheds like crazy. I'm wondering if I should buy the Shur-Line ones on Amazon or if it'll be the same. I saw that people complained about that for the Hero Arts and Stewart ones too. Is this normal? Thanks! Love your videos!
Thanks for the quick reply! I washed it pretty thoroughly today, and it's still shedding, so looks like I'll try the Shur-Line. I was just worried that they're all like that, and I didn't want to spend more money if that were the case. Just started crafting, and the initial investment costs are building up!
Love the scrubber idea. For a fantastic stamp cleaner, please try The Best Cleaner Ever™. It will even remove Stazon and yet it's 100% safe for skin and has no fumes!. It's oil based so it will actually heal your stamps--not dry them out! If you like to stamp with glue and then transfer foil (and I do with The Best Glue Ever™), this cleaner will even dissolve the dry, sticky adhesive. Yet it's safe for rubber and good quality clear stamps.
I was looking for tips for a diy stamp cleaner, typed that into RUclips, and... Surprise, surprise, you popped up 😄 should have known! Anyhow, I was wondering about using a DVD case instead of the baby wipe box. Would that work just as good? Still loving your videos! Thanx
Wendy brown sure, you might need to cut the spindle out so the pad will lay flat.

Hi there... I love your frugal tips... I just made my own - handheld - stamp cleaner the other day, of a carpet :)... Ha ha ha... It seems like the paint pads are much cheaper in the States, because here - they are rather expensive, I have to say... :(. Now, to my question... What does bottle of green substance contain... I'd love to make my own cleaning solution... What should I be on the look out for - or what should I try to avoid :)?
avoid chemical products, baby shampoo seems to be a nice option because it may not be aggresive on babies you know xD by the way, how did it go your cleaner with the carpet? :)
Great idea. I've always been put off buying one of these because of the price. We don't have that green cleaner in the UK. Do you know what the ingredients are so I can look for an alternative? Thanks and Merry Xmas
How to make or what are chalk stamp pads made of ... Like the actual pad itself... And of corse I've watched your videos on making your own pigment and chalk fluids but it just doesn't take or even feel or look the same . I know you def know your facts so I was wondering if you knew the actual material the chalk pads are made of or even better a somewhat better way to make a chalk fluid refill/reinker/ re chalked...lol. I'm a big (DIY)er and I can order them but it's so much more fun to do it ourselves ...right ...right thanks so much if you have the time I'd love to hear your opinion. Btw I love all of your quirky videos.
I have been using one paint pad for years, but I like your version of it! One question, do you use both cleaners without washing out the pads or does mixing them cause a problem?
Good! That's what I thought. Thanks for the answer. Now to locate that old baby wipes box. I'm sure it is up in my studio... everything else is there! I hope you are having a great start to 2015!
Wish I would of come across this video earlier. I purchased a Hamptons Art Stamp scrubber pad and it doesn't quite satisfy me. I was thinking it was like the Hero Arts Stamp scrubber but the Hamptons Art is only one sided. I guess I could buy extra pads using the tips in this video. Is Rubbing Alcohol okay to use to scrub the stamps or will that damage the stamps ? I'm using clear stamps.
Instead of tape, would hot glue work? I love this idea, here in Australia, I saw the similar thing for 32.00, and no, I didn't buy it, but will make myself one. You are marvellous...thanks so so so very much! Merry Christmas and a safe and happy and healthy 2015...thanks for all the helpful tips, cheap alternatives, and all the inspirational videos :) !
zelda1963may probably, you may need to reglue occasionally because it may pop loose and you will have to cut off the lip on the edge of the pad so the center does not sink.
you can go to dollar store an get baby wipe container at dollar store in baby section an decorate them your own planing on doing that next month still love you vids lindsay!!!!!
Another great video! Thank you for taking the time to inspire us. Would you be able to do a video on how to make TRANSPARENT texture paste? I have seen tons of videos for texture paste but none of them are clear. Thanks!
love, love your videos! I picked up some stamps at a thrift store and some of them look like they have dried paint on them and lord knows what else (they are really bad) do you think the simply green solution is the best way to defunctify them or do you have any other suggestions to save them they are retired stampin up sets and i don't want to throw them away? thanks
Great idea.1. Do you keep the case closed when not in use and does it clean with simple dish soap? Does that not get the tape went underneath the pads? 2. Do you put baby shampoo and water in a spray bottle and spray your stamps? Thank you.
Read that adding 2 tablespoons glycerin to 8 oz of distilled water ( or boiled then cooled water).... with a squirt of baby shampoo... CONDITIONS the stamps-- helps keep them from drying out over time. Have you found this to be true. ( will I be wasting my money buying glycerine?)
I have not made the solution as of yet, I have been using baby wipes that I rinse with water and simply wipe or stamp my stamps with them. Works well for right now.
does the baby shampoo also work on staz on? old video box or dvd box would also work i'd think, been looking to make one, one suggestion was felt,, but i like the sound of this much more, thanks for sharing
Maaike Uijthoven for stazon I use strait simple green, if that does not work ink uop the stamp with glycerin and let sit overnight and wash the next day and it should come off. If not it is only stained and should still work fine.
Hi Lindsay I actually found an old video cassette case. Remember them? Well, it worked perfectly. I now have a stamp cleaner. Thanks for the inspiration.
I've been using the paint edgers for years (1991) but never thought to put them in the wipes holder. I put them in plastic baggies if I am traveling. TFS
Hiya, relatively new to stamping (for mixed media). Will the simple green clean stamps with archival or stazon? My baby wipes don't clean those like my water base inks.
Circe Verba if you use it right away and full strength it should, otherwise pat some glycerin on the stamp and let it sit overnight then wash it with SG and it will come off:)
Finally I found some travel baby wipes boxes at 99cent store-been looking around for awhile-thank you so much! Just to clarify is the solution for the clear cling stamps-the same proportion as the rubber stamp cleaner? Thank you again! Bessos!
This is cool, I never would have thought of the edger pads, thank you! I have a tough one for you... I have ink pads coming out of my ears and I've purchased a couple of storage units for my large Stampin Up pads but I have a ton more of the regular size ones and I really don't want to spend $50 + a pop on more storage units. I've seen ones built from foam core board but I've gone through a ton of foam core trying to figure out how to make my own... have you ever tried this?
she actually had a video using foam core but I think it might be a ribon holder...there are lots of tutorials on RUclips as to how to make them with measurements and everything...good luck!
YAY, thanks so much Lindsay. I know you said you would do this for me but I didn't think you'd have the time before Christmas. How cool, I think I can get the pain pads at the Pound Shop if I don't have any in my tool box. I was getting a bit worried as I saw a home made one shown on YT and they used two rub it scrub it pads, and I think they would work out almost as much as the stamp cleaner lol. I take it any kind of UK all purpose cleaner will work like Simple Green, I have a bottle of Astonish under my sink :). Now I'm just going to have to source the baby wipe holder or anything else I can use instead. You're a star xx
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Cool, they are a lot easier to find than the baby wipe container. I also use empty CD cases for my rubber stamp storage, it works with both clear and rubber stamps :)
Bejay Roles im in Uk as well. Was just about to say i use them to put my stamps in. They can be bought at the pound shop as well. The only thing was the simple green...... can anyone tell us what is the ingredients of that stuff and we can look out for something like it. If you havent got any old video boxes ask in charity shops as they now just throw them out no one wants them anymore.
Hey Ann, what a good idea. I didn't think to ask in a charity shop...there are plenty in Truro lol. The only place I managed to find simple green was on Amazon or ebay and they only seemed to sell it in multiple bottles. I needed Pledge for a different craft and couldn't find it so I ended up buying Astonish multi cleaner which will work for that, so I'm thinking of giving it a try for the stamp cleaner :)
The reason I thought about it was my son had to go work in one when he was unemployed and he told me about it, even better if you can get the clear ones as well cause any big stamps go in them. I buy all sorts of cleaners but don't know why as I clean everything with my liquid soap and vinegar mix. Wonder if that would do!!!!????
You can put corn starch or baby powder in an old nylon stocking and double it over then tie the top closed. I bought a copy of the embossing buddy at store that went out of business then I saw how to make one on RUclips. Didn't pay a lot for the one I have, but I definitely would have made one if I hadn't found the one I bought. Try it.
Better than a nylon stocking, I used dollar store trouser stocks (had them on hand from a previous project). You don't have to keep doubling them over, one layer is the perfect thickness to get just the right consistency of cornstarch to come out. When I say 'trouser sock' I mean the ones that are similar to knee high stockings, but much thicker. They come in the same type of packaging as nylons or knee highs.
Do you also add a drop or two of glycerin to your mix? I have seen some recipes and they add a drop or so, does this help condition the stamps? Will the simple green hurt silicone stamps? Hugs
Marilynn Ellsworth I used too in the baby shampoo mix for clear stamp but then i saw my baby shampoo had glycerin already. The simple green has rubber conditioners in it already.
Tamatha Andrews I have seen people use the old cassette tape holders, if your ink pads are the right size might work. Keep a lookout at the second hand stores.
Great tip! But you're underminding my business LMAO! Just joking! I am a Stampin' Up Demo., but I love your tips and use them most of the time. Keep doing what you're doing! Love ya! TFS ~ Pat
I know I can use Cut N Dry to make a pigment stamp with re-inkers, but how do I store the pad so I can use it over and over? Putting it into a plastic zip-type bag is very messy.
A DVD or VHS case. That's an AWESOME idea - thank so much!!! 😺
thanks Lindsay! great idea. going to make one! I did also just made myself a homemade MISTI stamping tool. Watched a video on how to make it. Turned out great, and cost me less than $25.00! Bought two 8 x 10 acrylic sheets at Lowes,
two 2 inch long hinges, two 12 x 12" chipboard sheets and cut them down to be 8 x 10, and a hot glue gun!
I like the veggie wash idea much better. Thanks for that tip.
Deborah Anne, I found empty baby wipe cases without a dispenser top at Dollar Tree this week. This tool is one of the most useful in my studio.
I have the same thing, but I use Scotch double-sided tape to attach the paint pads to a rectangular-shaped plastic lid. I have two I rotate so when one is drying after cleaning with soap, I have another to use! Great idea and cheap! Merry Christmas!
I make these, too. They're really handy to have around where ever I am stamping. Also, they're a nice DIY gift to give to new stampers.
GENIUS! I have a scrubber that I keep with my stamps, but putting them into one of my empty travel baby wipes with a 2nd one to dry them off? Genius I tell ya, GENIUS!
Great inexpensive alternative. You're the goto gurus of art and crafting.🎨
You are a joy just bubbling over with creative juices and I thank you so much for sharing your ideas.
Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2015!!! Thanks for sharing a smile with each of your videos, as well as lots of crafting tips and knowledge.
Thanks so much for this frugal crafting tip, Lindsay! What a cool idea. Hope you're having a wonderful holiday season! :)
Great tip. I have the stamping up one. But I ran out of the spray so I'll use ur tip and make my own
Lindsay, have you tried making your own embossing powder colors? I was wondering if mixing pigments with a clear or white embossing powder would work. I'm in love with Perfect Pearls and Pearl Ex, so I purchased generic mica pigments at a fraction of the cost and have a collection of 24 colors now! I want to try it out, but don't have either white or clear embossing powder at the moment. If you have stuff on hand, would you give it a try?
Awesome! Just got into stamping and was looking for a DIY. Yours is PERFECT!
I am still using it, just used it today in fact!
I dab my stamp on a baby wipe then on a wet paint edger pad. I didn't know the acrylic stamps need different care.
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing that tip...I'll be making one soon.
I live in Wales GB so usually you have to travel for things.Thank you xxx
its a a paint pd easily available form b n q wilko etc

Lindsay, did you make a second cleaner box for the clear stamps? You mentioned that you use baby shampoo to clean them. This is a great idea!!!! Thank you!
Do you work with polymer clay (femo)? I want to make a tub of cool whip key chain. I'm having a tuff time rolling and designing one. Can you show me some ideas how to make one?

I read some of the comments that they couldn't find the containers, and neither could I until I went to the baby section in the supermarket, et voila! There they were! But they are getting scarce, I also saw another YT where she used a snap together container that held those swifter floor cloths. Hope that helps 😄
wolfwoman09 good idea, I think maybe now-a-days moms are making their own wipes or just using the large packs and not putting them in a small container.
Hi Lindsay! I saw in another video that you shouldn't swipe your stamps when cleaning you should tap tap, is that true?
thanks for another great tip. would never have thought of the paint pads. brilliant.
Happy Holidays for Smithfield, ME.
Thanks! Love your videos!
mine is fine, maybe wash the one you have so hopefully any loose fluff falls off, if not get sureline, I think that is what I have.
Thanks for the quick reply! I washed it pretty thoroughly today, and it's still shedding, so looks like I'll try the Shur-Line. Angela Villalobo I think chalk in is like Gouache or tempra paint (poster paint) without the addition of glycerin.
I have been using one paint pad for years, but I like your version of it! One question, do you use both cleaners without washing out the pads or does mixing them cause a problem?
Kathleen Roush one is for cleaning, the other for drying. I wash both side ever couple months. No problem with ink mixing.
Good! That's what I thought. Thanks for the answer. Now to locate that old baby wipes box. I'm sure it is up in my studio... everything else is there! I hope you are having a great start to 2015!
Maybe you could stick them to the box using foam tape and stick/glue on Velcro then they could be washed rosier

Tina Hamp place a coating of glycerin on them and let them sit overnight, thank clean them with a toothbrush and simple green.
Thanks so much. I knew you would know what to do! you're the best!
Do you have a hack for the MISTI stamping tool?
Love this video. I wanted a scrubber but they are too expensive.
kckid68 my friend Jody made one with a clear CD case.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Hi Lindsay, did Jody make a video about it? I'd love a link! I hope you will still create a video for it.
Great idea.1. Do you keep the case closed when not in use and does it clean with simple dish soap? Does that not get the tape went underneath the pads?
2. Do you put baby shampoo and water in a spray bottle and spray your stamps? Thank you.
+Deborah Anne yes to all:)
Thanks, what poportion of water due you use to baby shampoo? :)
A tablespoon to 4oz water, you really can't go wrong as long as it is thin enough to spray

Hi Lindsay
I actually found an old video cassette case. Remember them? Well, it worked perfectly. I now have a stamp cleaner. Thanks for the inspiration.
Dr Woo ooohhhh wish I'd kept some!
I've been using the paint edgers for years (1991) but never thought to put them in the wipes holder. I put them in plastic baggies if I am traveling. TFS

YOU ARE FANTASTIC!!!!!!! this is perfect and thank goodness for it...those stamp cleaners are way more than $15 where im at. Have a great holiday!
Finally I found some travel baby wipes boxes at 99cent store-been looking around for awhile-thank you so much! Just to clarify is the solution for the clear cling stamps-the same proportion as the rubber stamp cleaner? Thank you again! Bessos!
+Lisa Marie Gallegos yes, it does not need to be exact tho

+Dominic just rubber according to simple green:)
Love your cheap fixes.
would love to see what you use to make clay ball tools in varying size.
Gavi S the blog Rebel inker has a template for one. I put my small pads in a 3 drawer wooden ches I got from the craft store fot $20 or less.
I use a cassette tape storage rack for my ink pads...find them at thrift stores and flea markets...
Ooops, forgot to say in my excitement, I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Hazel xx
Bejay Roles another UK viewer suggested an empty VHS or DVD case. Have fun!
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich
Cool, they are a lot easier to find than the baby wipe container.
Wonder if that would do!!!!????
what a great idea. i shared it on my facebook wall thank you for this and a very Merry Christmas to you and all your family
***** thanks for the share! Merry Christmas!
Any ideas on a "embossing buddy" i had one lost it in my move and cant seem to find one to re buy. Thanks love your videos btw
Try it.
mvass294evr I made one too with muslin fabric and cornstarch/baby powder;)
Better than a nylon stocking, I used dollar store trouser stocks (had them on hand from a previous project). You don't have to keep doubling them over, one layer is the perfect thickness to get just the right consistency of cornstarch to come out. When I say 'trouser sock' I mean the ones that are similar to knee high stockings, but much thicker. They come in the same type of packaging as nylons or knee highs.
You're brilliant, young lady!
Thank you for letting me know. Hugs
Merry Christmas!
For everyone that can’t find the baby wipe box you can use the new face mask dust proof case. I got mine on AliExpress.
your mind must be going all the time LOL! so appreciate you sharing all your wonderful tips
I keep saving money with homemade hacks........love it!!! Now if we can only build a misty stamping tool!!!
Quick question how much water and how much simple green do I put in bottle. Same question for the baby shampoo and water how much?
nsshields83 it is not a science, about 9 parts water to 1 part shampoo or simple green.
I love this idea. Thanks Lindsay!
Love your energy on all your video. You're awesome!
Thanks for the DIY version, Lindsay! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

This is brilliant Lindsay! Thank you!!
Really need a inexpensive ink pad holder. Any ideas?PLEASE
Tamatha Andrews I have seen people use the old cassette tape holders, if your ink pads are the right size might work. Keep a lookout at the second hand stores.
That is so awesome thanks for showing us how to make it.
You are amazing! I heard from my friend about you and I run to Home Depot. Thank you so much. Could I share your idea?
sure:)
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Thanks!
you are amazing
Lindsay you got the most awesome. I am learning to be frugal!!!!!!!
Yes, yes, YES! Lindsay you always have the best ideas! Thank you!
Brilliant Lindsay, thanks.
will normal adult shampoo work as well instead of baby shampoo?
Great idea. I love using alternative items to save cash then the $ I save I can spend On the stamps or other specialty items companies offer.
Awesome Lindsay. I love it.
Does anyone know where to get the travel wipe plastic containers anymore?
can't find them anymore here in Northeastern Ohio.
How to make a misti we can actually afford! Thanks
Just Brilliant! Thank you !
Love all your videos Lindsay
Thank you, very great Lindsay, good very good, happy week.

Great tip! But you're underminding my business LMAO! Just joking! I am a Stampin' Up Demo., but I love your tips and use them most of the time. Keep doing what you're doing! Love ya! TFS ~ Pat
***** on no! Sorry pat, hey it just means your customers have more money for stamps!
I was teasing! No worries at all. I like your thinking!
Goodness your energy makes me exhausted. Lol not a bad thing .. I just wish I had it lol thanks for sharing your knowledge. Enjoyed it very much.
I was just about to order one for ten bucks! Thank you Lindsay - Julie
hello, Lindsay, I knew if looked up your name i would fine DIY stamp scrubber pad
FWIW I have one of those stamp cleaner pad case that I bought at Michael's a few years ago and I never use it because it pills.
Kristen K this one does not:)
Cool! I got fed up with the fluff so started using baby wipes, now I have my Chamois... hopefully that will work.
I know I can use Cut N Dry to make a pigment stamp with re-inkers, but how do I store the pad so I can use it over and over? Putting it into a plastic zip-type bag is very messy.
Peggy Kaiser keep an eye out when you buy products and look for things that come in clamshell plastic containers and reuse those.
How about using a TRAVEL SOAP CASE? SOME of them actually SEAL tightly!
Do you have a hack to remove stazon from stamps
Enjoyable as always!!!
I do have a question. How can I bring my older, dried up stamp pads back to life? Water, alcohol, glycerin, gamsol...?
If they were left opened then add a bit of glycerin with water. Check video on this!
thank you
OK LIndsay!! Love this video as I do ALL your videos -- but one question today.........how many cups of Joe have you had today so far??? LOL
Century Traveler I usually only have 2 a day (but they are big cups LOL!)
:)
Is this just for stamp pads and not for the clear stamps???
it id for any stamp, clear or rubber:) use baby shampoo plus water 1:9 ratio and you can clean any type of stamp with no worry
I've been waiting for this tutorial YAY :)
Thank you for that wonderful tip.
This is a great idea, thanks for sharing!
