Thank you everyone for your continued support and for watching!!
Selling craft stuff and afghans from my profit piles lately. I kept telling myself that my old piles didn’t have winners in it, but bread and butter for stuff that’s just sitting there is still rewarding. Love your channel! Thank you for all your insights.
You’re welcome! Nothing wrong with bread and butter!
I just got 8 tubs of fabric, patterns, and craft supplies, and found your videos while researching. Thank you for all the information. It helps a lot.
Wonderful!
This really makes me miss sewing as a teen & young adult woman!!! Those were the days!!! Thanks for the nostalgia!❤
As a reseller, fun video to watch and informative. As someone who grew up with a needle in my hand, simplicity were the easiest instructions to follow. Vogue had the worst - impossible instructions but sooooo gorgeous. Kwiksew tried to include so many sizes, with minimal instructions. As a seamstress I loved simplicity butterick and mccalls. Folk wear!!!! It came on strong around the same time as gunne sax Jessica McClintock dresses. Folkwear appeals to Cosplay and Renfair and historical reanactors. The other brands I remember but they weren’t made in my sewing heyday
Thanks for the info!
@@pishposhreselling finally felt like I had something to contribute
I have a bunch of Kwik Sew and im going to lot them. I happen to live in the Twin Cities and I see that its made here in Minneapolis!!❤️
Yes I’ve noticed that!
All these companies are owned by a single entity no and fall under the McCalls name. I call it McVoguericity. I'm lucky my sister likes to go thru patterns I bring home to check if all the pieces are there and belong to that pattern, I don't have the patience. I just found a rare Sesame Street costume but it turned out to be missing half the pieces and there were pieces from another pattern in the envelope. I've decided to take all the patterns that are worth $4 or less and just use the pattern tissue as tissue paper. I use the instructions for wrapping a book. I have a funny story...I had a Vogue Issey Miyake for sale, not super rare but still, I think I had $90 on it obo. I got an offer for $12. I refused. She came back the next day with $17. I turned it down and I don't counter on these lo-balls. She actually wrote and asked me how I had the nerve to charge so much and she offered more than the envelope price! I had to explain about the popularity of these, the designer, and the fact they were printed in the 1980's. I did add that I have every right to price it as I saw fit and she could find it from someone else but my price was lower than everyone else. I didn't hear back and sold the pattern to someone about 2 hours later for full price. That was a first for me, lol. I've never had anyone question an oop pattern price in 25 years of selling.
That is funny! Some people just don’t understand vintage values and how things go UP in price when they are no longer available.
I like McVoguericity. 😂❤️
I'd have blocked her immediately, lol.
Had a lot of sales these last two weeks. Skechers shoes, Art Nouveau silver plated candelabra, new in box cordless phone set, dollhouse furniture, giant plush Winnie the Pooh, 14k tie tac, EAPG cream pitcher and lots more. Woo hoo!
Yay!! Nice variety too!
Excellent Teacher.! You ROCK! Love your haircut❤
aww thanks!
Thank you for this information. I have 2 boxes of patterns that my mom recently gave me. I did not even know how to get started educating myself and this video has been very helpful. You taught me how to inspect the patterns and see what I actually have. I look forward to your other videos on this subject.
Such good timing! Have fun!
Amazingly thorough! Thank you!
This video is wonderful as I was honestly sitting here thinking about starting to list my sewing patterns and Voila! Here you are! As a former seamstress, not only did I "Collect" fabrics, I have amassed quite a Collection of Patterns. So many that even when I was sewing I would never have been able to sew all of them I purchased. Lol I'm sure other Sewers out there can agree with me? Patterns and Fabrics, I love it all.
I think many can relate!
Hi Rose .tell me about it!
Wonderfully informative, as always! Thanks, Shannon.
Thank you!
This video is very helpful and as usual appreciate your generosity in sharing experience and knowledge. I am looking forward to the next one on patterns. I have been “collecting” sewing patterns for the last 15 years. Now, in retirement, it is time to start selling. I always appreciate your depth of knowledge and straightforward advice. Thank you.
Thank you.
Amazing and generous amount of information. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks and you’re welcome!

Until then gonna binge some others lol Thx again!!🤩
Thanks for commenting! Have fun with those patterns!
Thanks for sharing. Really good information. Have a great holiday weekend.
Thanks!
Very informative video, I was not aware of this niche. Thank you.
Thanks!
Far from "very basic". LOTS of valuable tidbits that indeed are valuable! Thank you! Perhaps somewhat strange of me, but 75 percent of what I've sold over the past few years is most likely purchased by a woman. Needlepoint kits, fabric, linens, etc. Even a couple of simplicity patterns...that I was a little frustrated with. But NOW ! I'll definitely dig in some more on this. BTW... was that a plastic sleeve specifically for a pattern ?? Reminded me of how comic books get professionally graded and put into a special sleeve. 👍🏼👍🏼Anyway...looking forward to the next. Thank you!
Yes I’ll talk about the sleeves and such in a future video. I’m glad it was helpful!
Thanks! Can't wait for video #2! I inherited boxes and boxes of material and patterns from my 94 year old Aunt who worked for Fabric King until they went bankrupt and was a seamstress for 50 years. I have no clue what to do with them but don't have the heart to just donate them because I know they are just cash in the attic and I can definitely put them in my Etsy or ebay if I knew what to do with them. At least now I feel a bit better about where to start.
That’s great and that sounds like such a fun inheritance!
Great video! Thanks for all the good info on patterns. Quick question--if you have a pattern that is FF and uncut, do you list it as "New"?
I do, yes
Unless the envelope is trashed
I am about 20 yrs older than you, been sewing since I was about 6. Have few suggestions for topics you might consider! To follow
Sure thing!
I picked up a 1970’s wedding dress from Butterick that is hard to find and will go for over $15. I would say vintage wedding dress patterns are good finds.
I agree!
Q. Can patterns be mailed at media rate? First class usually same price? Thank you!
No unfortunately they do not qualify
Do you have a link to the storage envelopes that you store your older patterns in?
I'll talk about what I use in another video but for the clear storage envelopes lately I've been ordering from www.clearbags.com/
❤ TFS
Do you check make sure each pattern piece is there?
If the pattern is cut and I feel it's still worth listing individually, then yes I do. If not, I'd probably lot them up, AS IS.
Did you say that vintage is 20 years or older? Is that an Etsy guideline?
That's the standard on Etsy for listing something in their vintage category.
Why would a buyer not look on ebay for same pattern? Same pattern but higher price on Etsy (in general).
No clue. lol. Some people are anti-eBay.
If they’ve made you thousands why are you on RUclips trying to get more money
Trying to share valuable information with others to help you be able to do the same 😉
