It's so weird seeing Deborah and Charlie in the same room without thinking of Karen and Matt. It's also refreshing to see him be so nervous and shy as he's getting into the game. Great job with the guests!
It's really evident that Charlie Cox is a new player and being such a good sport about it. he's just sitting there smiling at everyone's enthusiasm but internally just "... *wat.* wha- what's happening? a good thing? okay..." and it's such a relatable thing seeing him starting to awkwardly but them getting into it too, because you were that player once, or you were at a table with a new player like "wha... What's initiative? what do I do to cast a spell?" and just getting those beats of understanding when their character does something badass/cool.
That's what I love about this show. The format is brilliant. And they do such a good job of making the game accessible for everyone, new player or veteran. Best D&D series I've seen so far.
There is a great interview of them on Daredevil where Deborah is talking about how she made everyone as a D&D character and Charlie is like "Apparently I'm a half elven paladin and I don't know what any of that means" it's fantastic
This is so great, you can actually see Charlie Cox loosen up as the game goes on. D&D can be intimidating even to the best of us, even to people that literally perform for a living, but once you get it and start having fun you realize anyone can do it! Props to Deb and the whole team for making this game even more approachable.
If someone like Charlie Cox, who literally roleplays (acts) for a living, can get nervous on his first D&D session, I don't have to feel so bad about being nervous with my 1st campaing group either :') Can really see that he needs to get into the game, the first time he hits the shark you can see him glow up like "OH WOW! I did that! :D" and that's so relatable to when I got my first Goblin kill hahaha

Xander does a great job of helping the DM by taking new players under his wing. This is the best kind of player as it helps the DM focus on all the other spinning plates in motion and makes the new player feel comfortable. He doesn't quarterback and tell the players what to do but instead facilitates their imagination. Great job Xander!
This is becoming one of my favorite DnD series. It's just so different and I love the characters. And I can't get over Rickie turning into a frog and noping away from the shark 😄

Also, these are great episodes to share with players, especially new ones or those that aren’t sure about how to do more involved role playing.
