I have been looking forever for a video like this! My Dyson DC23 STINKS! I called a ton of places, even Dyson themselves, to see if anyone offers a deep clean service an got all NOs! Thanks to this video.....I will do it myself. Thank you!!!!!!!!
I just got a used DC23 and this is a great breakdown on what's in store for me when it comes to refurbishing and replacing filters. I was wondering where the HEPA filter was, thanks for that tip in particular.
thanks for the video, that helped me dissemble and cleaned the cyclone on my DC23 FYI at 4:16 into the video the gasket on my DC23 was one the other side of that ring.
Thank you. I just completely cleaned and refurbished my DC23. There is no where in the Dyson literature that mentions an internal HEPA filter. Got one from Dyson. Not cheap.
That was not easy, even for an expert. You did a fab job of making it look almost new and ready to tell another tale for another day. I can’t remember an electric power head one in the UK?
I hope that you'll see a return of the powernozzle canister in the U.K. now that you have power restrictions. I think that there will be a need for them.
Omg I follow along and I screwed in the long screws just like you and poked holes in the lid wish you would have added a disclaimer now my vacuum is wrecked
Unfortunately (like me) you followed the video from start to finish. The author of the video stuffed up the order of re-assembly. if you have a look at 7:54 you can see him check out his handy work of holes through the cyclone head.... I give this a one star for repair video haha
Hello, do you know how to disassemble the telescopic tube of a DC23? Mine no longer crashes when I want to deploy it, there must be an impurture that prevents the blocking. thank you for your reply
With that particular thing you need to replace the part. Most of what Dyson does is non serviceable stuff. Good luck finding your part I'm not sure they're available anymore.
How do you get the shroud off? Also does the furniture polish help things slide out of the bucket easier? I always have to each my hand in to get the dog hair out.
paint scraper and a number 0 screwdriver. No the furniture polish is strictly to preserve the gaskets from dry rotting. Bagless vacuums are nasty get a bag vacuum next time.
Thank you for your videos! I have an ancient dc23, I look forward to watching your other videos so I can do a tuneup/refurbish. I had no idea that there was a big drum filter in my machine! Also, can the drum-shaped filter be cleaned? The Amazon link you provide indicates that the filter is no longer available. TIA!
Filter must be replaced. If you have a dc23 it should be more accessible than the one in this video. Most of these products are end of life and you need to find New Old stock if you plan on fixing them.
Does the original hepa filter have a piece of foam inside the filter? I couldn't tell if it was foam or carbon from the motor. Also, what brand of motors is dyson using in their vacuums. Thanks
I think that the original Dyson dual cyclone (DC) design was the best. It still separated well keeping the filter clean and it didn't eat so much airflow. Totally unnecessary to have huge amount of cyclones. Too complicated airpath in these modern multi cyclone vacuums.
Hi, could you tell me what the different spray chemicals you use are please? Are those magic erasers the best things to remove scratches from the plastic? This is purely a hobby for me, I’ve only brought one DC26 back from the brink of death so far and thoroughly enjoyed the process. I’ve another DC26 coming from ebay for life changing care and can’t wait to get on with it. Only trouble is that I fall in love with them and can’t bear to part with them once resurrected. Great vids chap, all the best from the 🇬🇧.
My ex had one of these and I found it so hard to use...the hose doesn't come straight out of the front so when you pull it forwards it kind of moves awkwardly. Plus it was always dirty...when I moved out I went and bought a Miele C3 instead of another Dyson and it's a thousand times easier to use and doesn't have this clunky cheap plastic feel with all kinds of crevices and bits that are constantly dirty

You really would be better off just buying a Henry and replacing it.
the casual throwing down of parts? so cool! i must try that when i wash the dishes.
He hates Dyson
Yeah that bothered me too what's his deal

A dc23 is much different than this machine. Also far easier to get to the filters behind the wheels on that machine
I love my DC 23 and I'm a vacuum collector. Trying to buy up parts and keep using it the rest of my life.
I love my DC23 too, I don't want any other! I don't collect, but I want to get parts as spares as well.
thanks for the video, that helped me dissemble and cleaned the cyclone on my DC23
FYI at 4:16 into the video the gasket on my DC23 was one the other side of that ring.
True. When assembly, white plastic ring should be placed before black rubber ring. Thanks for the video!
excuse me, how to disassamble the dc26's cyclone?
Thank you. I just completely cleaned and refurbished my DC23. There is no where in the Dyson literature that mentions an internal HEPA filter. Got one from Dyson. Not cheap.
You're absolutely right. For years they've been not describing proper maintenance in their literature.
I love the power head model they sold with this I just got one but yalls got better colors in the uk
Thank you so much for this video!! You made my life easier and better 😄
Omg I follow along and I screwed in the long screws just like you and poked holes in the lid wish you would have added a disclaimer now my vacuum is wrecked
"Don't try this at home" is a serious warning. Sorry to here that you tried DIY.
Unfortunately (like me) you followed the video from start to finish. The author of the video stuffed up the order of re-assembly. if you have a look at 7:54 you can see him check out his handy work of holes through the cyclone head.... I give this a one star for repair video haha
I removed red and black wire from the circuit board now I can not remember which goes to which pin. Please help
Who do I get the canister lid back on!???? Plz help

That DC23 hepa filter is huge! Its look like a honeywell air purifier filter.
great video. Thorough demo and explanation
Hi, I own an old dc23. As a hepa filter, can I use 916083-02 instead of 916083-01? There is no in Turkey 916083-01.
Thanks for all the great videos. My DC23 canister is making a humming noise. Vacuum sounds fine when canister is removed. Any ideas how to fix it?

nice video, I have hair stuck in my rear wheels on the turbo head of the DC23 . how do get the wheels to come off
Replace is a whole assembly is the way it was intended. I've never tried to remove them I wish you good luck.
Does the original hepa filter have a piece of foam inside the filter? I couldn't tell if it was foam or carbon from the motor. Also, what brand of motors is dyson using in their vacuums. Thanks
No that's dust on the HEPA filter. Dyson usually uses YDK or Panasonic Motors depending on the model.
@@PerformanceReviews thanks for the info. You have a lot of patience to deal with these complex machines. Thanks again.
What kind of furniture polish do you use? And what's in the clear spray bottle?
Stain X "vac polish"
What kind of vacuum when you recommend for wood floors and area rugs
A simplicity stick vaccum

thk for the video

Can u make a vid of that bissell pro heat 2x just fixing it
See my Video on how to fix a shark
Well then make that with the carpet washer
Thanks mate

Check out the patron this is explained there.
Mines hilarious it will still suck in some dirt but will not deliver to the canister
Subscribed! What spray are you using?
"Vacuum polish" food grade silicone also works so does any furniture polish

A Miele is so much better and so much easier and cleaner to deal with than a Dyson let alone more powerful and longer lasting. Good decision.
HEPA filter link dont worm homie
Parts are NLA for this now . Time to replace it.
Ugh.. watched this video last night and had one come in for repair today.
Well I guess it's time to sell somebody a new vacuum then 😎
Haha, she wants another dyson.
This guy HATES his job
Nope, love my job . But I don't like Bagless vacuums.
