It was an experience for sure. We found some weak points on the car which is always great. You've got potential as a great driver which was on display in the last couple of heats you ran. It's gonna take time which you'll get. You should come back for another one still! I'm doing it for fun. I don't care whoever is my team mate as long as we're both having fun and always trying to improve.
All good Marty!!! I love the fact you came out and tried it! The car is already back together and back to speed so no worries there! Racing at night is one of the toughest especially once Josh told me there were multiple cars with yellow head lights. You are correct daytime endurance would have been a better go for you for the first time. Glad you didn’t lose the bigger picture of having fun even when things are not going your way. I’m more sorry the wire failed as that one was on me apron further examination. It was not built the way I should have done it. I was also worried that if something happened Josh had to open a car he did not build. You both did give me VALUABLE information on that car for endurance racing durability. I can fill you in more on that at a later date. My race two races ago at Butch’s ended with an experimental chassis with broken front axle mount blocks and the same finishing result. I hope we can get you out for more from time to time. Josh and I are happy you came out to join the group! You’re more than welcome back to be on our team!
Thanks!!! Seriously, that car was fast!!! Handled great! Josh crushed it in the final race.. I appreciate the invite.. I learned a great deal and will be better prepared the next time. I look forward to it!
Glad you gave it a go despite your newness to slot car racing. I know there are many who would have loved to have a chance to do an endurance race, but because they live hours from a track they never get a chance. Thanks for sharing. Loved your humble attitude.
Slow and steady? Lol. Nowhere to go but up from here. I would love to see a Marty-Dusty team sometime. Tune in next time for another adventure of two lines racing featuring Marty Ford. Brought to you by Rost Coffee, your one stop shop for premium coffee. Love and peace my friend and keep racing,!
I 12:26 RagTop ….Marty, I can’t see how anyone one would be able to keep track of which car was theirs ! Looked really cool with the headlights but I have a hard time when racing 5-6 cars keeping my eyes on my car in the daylight!
All part of the challenge… but yes, I found it way more difficult than I anticipated. I finally settled in toward the end. I still had a blast… just not an impressive showing 😂
It looked challenging Marty. It’s all a learning experience! You’ll keep improving. I’ve never done a “night” race at the club. Only on my home track. So I can imagine it being a little intimidating at the club for the first time. Especially when the cars all look similar 😅. Great video, thanks for sharing brother!
Just being real.. my hope is that people see that I went out and tried it. It may have been disappointing, but it was still fun. I learned a lot that I will take into the next race. I hear from so many guys that say they are too intimidated to jump into racing, but I want people to see that there is a reward on the other side.. new friends, growth in the hobby and the satisfaction of knowing at least you tried.
Hi Marty, I’ve been watching your channel for the past several weeks. Really like your videos and your insight. I received my first Carrera 124 (analog “Targa Florio”) set in 1969 (we were living in Germany at the time) This childhood / youth experience was so incredibly fun and positive, l decided to acquire another Targa Florio set about 20 years ago and had it sent from Germany. I acquired another Carrera 124 analog set (Black Top Racers) about 15 years ago and usually set them up for 3 months around the Thanksgiving / Christmas / New Year’s holidays. There’s a bit of a learning curve to get that familiar “feel” back of the controllers, cars and track, every time. I’m 63, and this past week I decided to take the plunge and purchased my first Carrera 124 Digital Set (“Born To Perform”) as well as numerous track pieces and accessories. I’m expecting it all to arrive this week. What I really want to say is that while your endurance night race experience might have been “disastrous” from your perspective, you did gain some (in)valuable experience and insights. It may take a few more tries to become more competitive on that track, but, like Thomas Edison, you didn’t “fail”, you learned that it’s a different experience on a wooden track, in a different environment and race conditions, as well as the little things that can and do go sideways. Anyway, keep up the great work on your track and sharing your experience and insight through your videos.
Thank you for the kind words. It was a great learning experience. I look forward to hitting the track again soon. I hope you enjoy your new layout, the building process is very fun for me. I look forward to hearing about your new experience.
I'm sure it was a great experience overall. Enduros are fun, but the one thing you learned - practice is invaluable. When we do any enduro, it's week's worth of planning, and allowing practice, day or night race. You have to get used to heat length. And yes, those with better 👀 at night will truly have an advantage. Thank you for sharing, no matter the outcome Marty!
I have so many hobbies already but this looks like a blast! I used to race off road RC alcohol cars. I can remember that track time is key to getting faster, keep on keeping on buddy, speed will come👍🏼

Endurance slot car racing is sport! All you can do is learn from mistakes and begin the climb to respectability. Maybe find a fellow endurance race rookie to team up with and learn the ropes as a dedicated tandem. You must consider the 24 hours of Lemans race, in England, as a monumental challenge after experiencing this race Marty! Great video.
Thanks Vancouver! I have a feeling it won’t be my last.. maybe next time with the lights on 😂😂 I can’t even wrap my mind around a 24 hour race…but we will get there…
