- Here's an F1 onboard lap at the Phoenix street circuit's 1991 layout. Phoenix hosted 3 F1 raced between 1989-1991, with 2 different layouts being used. It was held in downtown by the Phoenix Civic Plaza and the America West Arena. The 1991 layout was 3.721 km (2.312 mi) long and consisted of 15 turns. Ayrton Senna holds the lap record there with a 1:21.434 set in his McLaren MP4/6. This was the last Formula One race in the US until the Indianapolis Motor Speedway first held a Grand Prix in 2000.
This Formula 1 hotlap is driven in Assetto Corsa with Lando Norris using the F1 2023 McLaren MCL60.

This track layout has indycar and imsa written all over it
Lowkey would love for indycar and imsa to have raced here
You're 110% right 👍
Indycar did end up racing at Phoenix Raceway, but I’d love to see it come back either to the track or to the streets
@@onesevenninewest me too, indycar never raced the reconfiguration of Phoenix Raceway and I'd love to see it
The battle between Senna and Alesi was epic. What a race. Pierluigi Martin in front row alongside Berger.
The track was really bumpy.
I remember this one was called "Desert town" on the F1 Sensation video game.
The last corner would have Wall of Champions vibes...
That was some insane rotation into the first corner
I remember this was a lot of fun to drive around in Microprose F1 Grand Prix. I doubt it would suit modern F1 cars though.
The 1970s Long Beach layout was better, at least for the cars of the era. More flowing.
It's a shame the Port Imperial circuit in New Jersey never went ahead. It would've been an interesting track to drive.
This was also in GT64. Driving all the Japanese touring cars like the R33's, Supras, and such was fun. They had the full layout then the shorter one which was simply the blocked roads that made the turns for the full course opened up and swapped around.
The Famous track where Ayrton Senna and Jean Alesi had their legendary battle in 1990, and it was as well the last American track to host a Grand Prix in F1 before Indianapolis in 2000, and the last American Street track before now Miami and Las Vegas.
This track would no longer serve the current F1. But I agree with the colleague in the previous comment: it would be perfect for today's Indycar. Great lap 👍
The track would be nice if it wasn’t so goddam bumpy
Literally a Formula E Track
If this was on the f1 calendar, Perez might win because it's a street circuit
And it's not too far from the border of Mexico so this makes it a track tailor made for his skills
@markdemars7648 nah he would crash in the first corner just like in Mexico
I used to enjoy racing this back in the old microprose F1 Grand Prix days
One of my all time favourite tracks! I actually took a trip into downtown Phoenix just to walk the original layout. Fun fact, it is impossible to run the original two layouts, but somewhat make a hybrid of both in the first sector, and extend the final corner another block. The area of the first sector is quite built up now, with the Footprint Center and Chase field along E Jackson, and more skyscrapers along Washington.
A potential new layout for the street circuit could have hairpin turns bridging 1st and Central Aves. and 3rd and 4th streets, with the main straight on Roosevelt and the pits on Washington. Convention center parking could be used as a makeshift hospitality plaza, maybe.
@@onesevenninewest Your idea is probably great, but I think I'd need a diagram to visualize it. Washington is still pretty wide, but there's an LRT rail running on it now, so it's not as wide as in the early 90s
Hide it before Stefano Domenicali sees it!
I recognize this layout of the course😮
Mitsos I recognize this course layout from Super Monaco GP and Super Monaco GP 2
Reminds me of playing Crammond's GP1, especially the meter boards.
I wished IndyCar and IMSA would Race in Phoenix, Arizona alongside Formula One
Yes, finally! My home GP!
Can you do a hotlap at Jeddah corniche circuit with Formula E Gen3? I can't even imagine how formula E race at this circuit. This track looks so fast and maybe you can do a hotlap here👌
Between this and long beach.. waiting to see the Chicago circuit for nascar and the new Las Vegas F1 street circuit
"Ok Lewis there's a couple bumps on the track so get in there"
The race there had less crowd than a local ostrich festival lol
I for one find that it was not perfect but certainly THE challenge for all, not one lap could be reproduced in the same manner, differently from today’s standards. A true talent could aspire to be the winner and no other.
I know it's clickbait, but Long Beach is right there.
Long Beach was not an F1 street circuit
@@Mitsos1311 "From 1976 to 1983 the event was a Formula One race, commonly known as the United States Grand Prix West." Sorry my friend but, in the 70's and 80's, it was.
@@eholanda01 I stand corrected
Hi Mitsos. Please man one a question: How execute download track? Link in description not show download lin. I don't understand this.
I think you need to reach out to the email on the website
This was much beter than other street tracks like Detroit or Vegas
1982: 3 F1 races in the USA
1991: 1 F1 race in USA, less popular than local farmers exhibition
2023: again 3 F1 races in USA
2031:...
I think this circuit was torpedoed by the first race being held in June. Phoenix. In June.
The Race Of The Phoenix 1991 in The Years 90 Is for The Formula E.
Car looks to be drifting into turn 1, rears just instantly stepped out
Is this mod available, can’t find a download through the link in the description ?
I think you need to reach out to the creator’s email and he will provide a way to get it
A maioria dessas pistas antigas dos EUA, ajeitadas logicamente a F-E, teria umas 16 E-Prix no mínimo.
Can you do a hotlap at Autopolis International Racing Course in Japan?
I already have
@@Mitsos1311 Ok thx
Quite nice circuit and much faster than Detroit which is a lot like Monaco. Detroit is very slow, very few fast straights.
This track would probably destroy a current F1 car’s suspension in real life.
That road surface _probably_ doesn't make the most pleasant driving experience
I think Phoenix would host an awesome IndyCar race. If F1 were there it would be very much like Azerbaijan, which is kind of a snoozefest
Portland or Cleveland over this one, but not by a whole lot.
The best F1 street circuit was the original Long Beach (1976-1980); the 1982 version was good too.
Phoenix was trash. Long Beach is by far the best street circuit here in the US. I was always glued to the F1 US GP West (as it was called then, as typically there was the F1 US GP East in Detroit or Watkins Glen).
I miss both the Detroit street cuircut and Watkins Glen. They both have character.
I'll never forget John Watson in that "obsolete" McLaren-Ford in 1982 in the wet drifting completely crossed up lap after lap. One of the great drives in F-1 history and criminally forgotten. He was brilliant that day.
You’re right but I violently hate you for saying this.
Looked like a complete lack of grip there, especially into Turn One. Wow.
Hmmm. Not a great replacement for Detroit imo. Had a decent race there but nothing compared to John Watson's win at the 1982 Detroit Grand Prix. That is one of the greatest forgotten drives of F-1.
You mean Long Beach right?
the creator of this track just showcases his tracks as a tease and never includes a download

why does it look like a off-brand baku?
can you share the track please
You know, I always heard the Phoenix track was pretty bad, but I've seen worse... Like this week's GP track... Or last week's...
I disagree. Baku and Miami have modern layouts and places where you can overtake properly. As for this one in Phoenix, definitely not. It was bad back then, imagine now. But I agree that those streets in Downtown Phoenix have the potential to do a lot better layout. If F1 were willing to race there again, which I don't think is the case.
@@eholanda01 my point is that "modern layouts" are the issue. They're challenging in qualifying, but during a race it's "wait for the built-in DRS zones and sail by in the inevitable heavy braking zone that follows." There's no incentive to be fast, or attempt a pass, on the rest of the track. Compare that to, say, Suzuka: you've got to get the off-camber Spoon just right to have a good exit, then hold your nerve through 130R, and make a dive into Casio - or be close enough to make the pass into the very fast and tricky turn 1. It tests cars and drivers on every inch of the track - which makes sense, because it was built as a test track, not as a show pony for TV and Netflix. If you want lots of passing just reverse the grid; if you want high-level racing, make it tough.
so weirdly bumpy, remove that, resurface a little, and its brilliant
What game is this f12023???
Assetto Corsa, with dozens of mods
Nice i have always wanted to race this is that game on pc or console?
#F1 #Phoenix #McLaren #LandoNorris4
Port Imperial Street Circuit better, what could've been 😔
this track is too narrow, bad for sport currently
Way too bumpy
ive had smoother rides in a rally car
belle isle >>>>
It was an awful circuit, in a race not liked by anyone.
Long Beach (until 1981) was the best one.
I must say, I didn’t know that Long Beach hosted an F1 GP before I made this video. Pretty ignorant on my part haha, I wasn’t very familiar with USA based Formula 1 GP’s
