When I was looking to add to my 911 (993) and this was in 2018, I knew one thing, I did not want a Turbo, so a new 991.2 model was a no-go. I did want a GT3 because it was the last of the non-Turbos, but a new one is impossible to get unless you can walk on water and I was not willing to pay well above list for a used one. I am glad because the GT3 and those above it are too track oriented. So I bought a 2015 Carrera 4 GTS with a 7-speed manual in 2018, 3 years and 1 month after initial delivery, with 98 miles on it. Yup, you read that right and the bonus is, I got to break in the engine properly. It came with $45,620 in Porsche factory options and a serious dose of Xpel. Maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket that day. Anyway, a good honest review. All the best to you and your wife.

One of the very best reviews of this great car.
    Have 2 in the garage.
    2012 997.2 Carrera 4 GTS Manual
    2016 991.1 Carrera GTS Manual
997.2 is more raw vs. the more refined 991.1
    Love them both.
All the best to you and your wife.

991.1 GTS MANUAL is the best 4seat 911 you can buy. Change my mind.

Great video! The 991.1 GTS is the best 911 overall -a future classic!

You are right when you said if you think you have to have the turbo to have a real 911, you haven't experienced 911 in your life. I have a 2014 C4S, and people tell me they want a turbo s or a GT3RS after they see me pulling up. Turns out, these people, without question, never owned and cannot EVER afford any 911, they are just insecure and dont want to compliment you.

Totally underrated review. Very good points and discussion Knowledgeable and understands what people looking at this car want to hear to help make their decision.

You did not talk about the ‘4’ trim levels i.e C4S & C4GTS - great game changers

I am in the bathroom and decide, mmm Its a sunny Saturday, lets go for a drive in the GTS! From there on, my heart beats a little faster and I do everything double time so I can get in the GTS... asap Similar to the way the reviewer is taken with the GTS. I also bypassed the 991.2 GTS to get a 10k mile ducktailed 991.1 Lava Orange '15. Aside from the GT3, you havent lived till you drive one of these bad boys!
Hope you and your wife get back on your feet real soon...

I have had 2013 Carrera S for about a year, and now for the past 2 years, a 2017 Carrera GTS. The "major" 2017 GTS fault is its cup holders. Moot for me because I don't want liquids, except bottled water, in the car. In 2 years I can't find anything I don' like about the car. Now, back to the video......and if I were totally honest, a 991.1 GTS with the aero package, one of the prettiest cars ever made. Sad to say, the 991.2 GTS didn't have a Factory aero option.

Cup holders are the worst. Porsche designed an amazing car but the cup holders were definitely not thought through

Had a 991.1 4S, it was weak, powerless, piece of Cr*p. PDK S***d. A manual transmission probably would have made the difference. I currently have a 991.2 GTS...barely decent. I use it as a large paper weight, a beater car for commuting, and getting groceries. NO comparison to Ferrari . My Ferrari gets my Lovin

3:00 no big deal, but wasn't the base Carrera a 3.4L engine and not a 3.6L. Easy to confuse because Porsche used so many 3.6L engines over the years. My 1995 993 series is a 3.6L engine. My 2015 991.1 GTS is a 3.8L engne.

Enjoyed the vid, but would take issue with your assertion that you you could up-spec an S to GTS standard. Unfortunately, this was never fully possible as the GTS has the wide body of the 4s or turbo. Surprised you never mentioned this?

Hi again, just watched this again and I think I maybe able to assist you with the ‘ radio on’ gripe you have on start up. If you press and hold the radio on/off button for a few seconds prior to switching off the car, I think you’ll find this addresses your concern with it initiating again the next time start up. You can then simply press to manually switch on the radio when you want. Hope this helps. Try it and let me know if it works for your U.S cars. Cheers.
