I moved from Wisconsin one year and ended up by Sutter Creek in the Sierra Nevadas during the tail end of a multiple year drought. The small ranch I was on had a dry tributary off of Sutter Creek. When those rains finally came and went I dug around there and found flakes of gold. I would regularly see pickup trucks backed up to gravel cliffs and guys shoveling possible paydirt right into their pickup beds on the high side of that creek and its winding narrow road.
Heck yeah Jason, you never know where it might be hiding, I found a bunch of cobbles about 25' from the water, looking forward to healing up and checking it out, pet them critters for us 🐾 Rigby, Cobbles and all🐾🇺🇸

I do not miss getting chomped or breathing in those things! I like your idea of grabbing a bunch of classified buckets of material for extra winter fun! I can’t tell you how much use and enjoyment I’ve gotten from 2 yards of pay dirt I brought home. Hell yeah! I love glaciation and what it's done for us. Sometimes I check out maps of your state and am particularly interested in the creeks that drain the glacial drumlin fields.
Great samples and very encouraging on what you found in your samples. Liked, shared and commenting. One reason I like watching u, is because I can relate to yer surroundings. I’m in upstate New York n I c much of the same things in yer vids that I c just outside. I live 1 mile from a river. Up on a hill, n both me n said river r sandwiched between 2 mountains. I’m on a 19 acres old farm. On the river side of my property is a swamp. Then as we move away from the river further. We climb up a steep hill or cliff. Then on top there’s exposed bedrock. Then moving even further away from river across the field the bedrock dives under. Now let’s skip all the way to the other side of my yard. There I can dig. If I dig about 2 ft I find a large boulder layer. There is also conglomerates, sand n other layers depending on where I dig n how deep I am. It’s illegal to keep Ny gold . So I don’t go out n about n go dig beaches, kriks, or rivers. Cool video, and its great to see you trying new ways to get gold 👍 I dabble a little in geology and most people think gold is only found in water ways, it does accumulates more in water channels but its actually spread through out the whole area in the dirt. The ice age had glaciers from Canada push gold rich material into the Northern part of the US. The force of the glaciers would also move rocks for miles and round them just like river rocks. So these hot spots inland that you are digging in might have been created by glaciers deposits (called Moraines ) more so then rivers making them. I'm in NH and have had good luck digging spots that are 100ft+ in the woods from where the river is .
Great results Jason! You earned it!! 🥵 I would say the first rock is gneiss and the 2nd rock a cool conglomerate? That would have made it home with me too! 🍻
Here in Southwest Wisconsin, we have an area (driftless region) that wasn't affected by glaciers and i have been doing what you are doing, sample 5 gallon pails from where the unglaciated hilly regions transitions to glaciated areas where the hills have been ground down. I'm a trout fisherman so i focus my efforts around streams in those areas and have found similar albeit trace amounts of flour gold also. I don't get the numbers of gold like you seem to do up north
Yeah , good hunting the Ancient river channels , that gravel you found 13.00 mins into the vid looked very interesting indeed . Lotsarocks, WI. Cool finds; thanks for sharing.
Right next to leaveright Wisconsin 😃✅
Long time no see, great new video for us all. Never give up on the old back yard for gold! Anywhere and anytime you can find gold. I live near the old Black Swap in Ohio and I swear there's gold out there! 👍 👍 👍
Gives a new perspective on finding gold !!
Nice finds out there in the heat. Happy Labor Day FGW Team
Thanks !!! 😃🍻✌️
I really enjoy watching your channel, do you prospect any places other than Michigan? It was pretty cool Jeff (Williams) gave you a shout out and enjoys watching your channel! Keep up the good videos Jason I think people like watching you because you don't try to be anything but yourself! I watch your channel to learn how to catch that fine and flour gold! Good luck my friend!
Yes we do! Minnesota, Wisconsin, michigan, I’ve been to Wyoming! Jeff W is a wealth of knowledge and it really was nice to hear him shout us out 😃🐺
Thinking outside the box, I like it! There’s a similar clay/gravel layer by me in SE WI on the glacial moraines. Time to brave the heat and test! Cobbles 🍻
Good luck !!🍀👍🏻
Those woods and gravel road look similar to the woods in parts of Vermont. Digging the exploring aspect! Nice color on that gold!
Cool, thanks!
Awesome video. Helped answer a few questions I've had.
Glad it helped!
Looks like somebody got a fancy new shovel. Nice! This video is awesome! Little change from the norm
We enjoy trying new spots !😃✅🐺
Looks like you found a new spot. Keep on digging.
Hope so! I hope you’re well sir 😃✅✌️
Hey Jason. Great vids. I'm tired just watching you. 😅. Maybe next time you bring a crow bar and pick? Very informative about were to look. Thanks for the info. 👍😎🇨🇦
I’ll have the right tools next time!!! 🤣🤣✌️✅
This is an awesome channel. I got gold fever now. I just tried panning in a northern Wisconsin crick today. I didn’t find any but I still have the fever.
That is awesome!
Who needs a gym when you’re a Flour Gold Wizard! Cobbles to your hard work!🍻🍻
You got that right! 🤣🍻
I love your videos ❤
What else would I be doing on Labor Day morning, BUT watching Jason hunt the gold, you need to get a hat man being out in that heat, no hat, gonna get cooked. your a great inspiration and teacher too, take care, chill.
Too hot to be outside anyway..🥵🍻🤣
Super nice scenery but definitely better when you can have the puppies with they enjoy helping for a scratch oh and beef sticks too
I plan on bringing them next time, its far enough from the road 😃🐺🐺✅
Good finds. Good job. Awesome video!
Thanks 👍🍻
Glad youre keeping the boys safe 😊 thank you for your videos. Ive learned a lot wathing your videos!
Thanks for watching!
Never knew why there were isolated areas with boulders built up in the woods. Also live in the glacier zone.
Crazy ole Mother Nature!!!
Holy smokes. Great experiences. Looks like you struck a great thing. Keep up the great work
Thanks 👍
That’s a great find. The ancient river beds. I’m impressed, and I like you thoughts on digging for the winter days. The Miami rivers here in southern Ohio has similar areas. I’ll have to check it out. 😊👍
One day winter will just be here !!!✌️🍻
Try rosemary oil on your neck and arms to keep no see ‘um’s and skeeters away. Works well and you smell like a lamb roast.
Lotta wolves in the area to be smelling like lamb roast…🤣✌️✅
Loved the video thanks for sharing
