What I like about these videos is that I enjoy the idea and themes of horror movies, but hate the anxiety and adrenaline that comes with actually watching them. Getting these sort of spark notes on the events of the movies, as well as your own personal flair and interpretation of the artists choices, makes horror movies an actually enjoyable experience for me.

Same here. You put my thoughts in writing better than I was going to. I watched the hell out of horror movies growing up. I watched most of the nightmare series in theaters. Watched jaws tripping on acid, on a house boat and then went swimming. That is scarier to think of than it was that night. It was also a lake rather than ocean.

I watched the movie last year when i worked trough my movie bucket list and i was super entertained in the beginning, but the scene when "Tiny" enters the room, the camera makes a long pan around the table and you hear dark guitar grips - thats what sold me on this movie.
The entire trilogy is actually rock solid and really good. Super unsettling. Not really gory, but the shear evil of the firefly clan . Its pure evil, pure madness. The horror comes from the fact that those people could be totally real, it feels super natural. LOVED IT.

This has got to be my favorite horror movie. In the extras on my copy (I'm not sure if it's only on the blue rays or not) Bill Mosley says it was "nice to be in a real horror movie after years of all the crap that's been made." While there are some gems, when this came out it was the one original movie in a sea of remakes. Rob Zombie makes monsters you either love to hate or hate to love, and it's such a great way to write characters. Great video as always!

There is something about House of 1000 Corpses and Devils Rejects that I love but can't quite put my finger on why. I think part of it is that there is no magic happy ending. Most movies don't have the balls to push the boundaries. Rob Zombie loves running past the boundaries. The acting is done well too so the characters feel genuinely evil but in a weird, creepy yet curious way.

Well back in the early to mid to late 1970s NASA was the only one that could change tires. And that's why they didn't know how but the fireflies knew how because they worked for NASA. They just didn't tell you that in the movie cuz I made that up right now. Here's a video that has absolutely nothing to do with that. ruclips.net/video/ZDH7vr0JNNc/видео.html

Ill never forget being at a Rob Zombie show and the trailer for 3 from Hell started booming through the speakers. I wanted to cry. I was in 3rd grade when House of 1000 corpses was released, and my mom made me watch it. At first I was terrified but then for some weird reason i was emotionally attached to Baby. It was like weird movie Stockholm syndrome and I wasn't scared anymore. The ending of the Devil's Rejects made me cry the 1st time i saw it because it seemed like the good guys won. My mom and I even went to the Rob Zombie haunt at Universal Orlando.

Otis' execution of that cop dude from Justified (I think) and the camera pans back is to me an apex scene for all to study...just that scene alone...with no other movie references is still a masterpiece in filmaking...the horror that cop musta been going through...the heightened sense of pure murderous power-gluttonous highs and then that long drawn pause with the audience knowing wtf is coming but milking that tension nerve... bravissimo!!!

I love this movie. I watch it every year around Halloween since it came out in 2003. I love the atmosphere, I love the style, and I love that Rob Zombie embraced the supernatural elements in this movie by including the whole 'Dr. Satan' character and his creations. I was always so disappointed with the direction he took the subsequent 'Firefly' movies in. I respect that a lot of people really enjoyed Devil's Rejects (sorry but 3 From Hell is terrible), but everything I loved about the first movie was abandoned and instead I felt like I was left with a hollow sequel with mean-spirited characters that lacked all of the wonder and potential for the exploration of the background lore. It's like they shifted from horror to poor substitutes for Natural Born Killers.

When you mentioned the character named "Baby" I immediately had flashbacks to Blue Velvet. You should review some David Lynch films! I know he's not technically considered a horror director but I consider him such, his movies have managed to scare me in ways that few other movies have.

@@FloRidaVEVO98 Eraserhead (it's a lil weird and creepy, it actually inspired Kubrick's The Shining, but I think it makes its point), Mulholland Drive (one of the best jumpscares ever in a film), The Elephant Man (a little more conventional but still a good movie), Lost Highway (makes absolutely no sense but manages a very creepy atmosphere). Inland Empire is scary too, but a little pretentious and nonsensical. Watch out for the pretentious David Lynch fanboys though- they legit think that Lynch is the greatest director ever and that people who don't like him just don't understand. I mean, I like David Lynch as stated previously, but I met a hardcore fanboy in a theater once and it was the most annoying experience I've ever had in a movie theater.

There is more than one instance where you see a poster for two missing young boys. Those boys were actually pictures of Rob Zombie and his brother (the lead singer of Powerman 5000) as children
This was Dennis Fimple's last film. He was increasingly sick with heart disease during filming and a few of his scenes were filmed with him sitting down. Ultimately however, he died in a car crash in 2002.
Universal Pictures (original production company) refused to release the film, believing it would be given an "NC-17" rating by the MPAA.
Film debut of Sheri Moon Zombie, who was credited as Sheri Moon.
The film takes place on October 30, 1977.
The film was NC-17 but was cut to an R rating, the cut footage was never released.
As of 2021, many of the film's stars have passed away, including Karen Black, Sid Haig, Tom Towles, Dennis Fimple, Irwin Keyes, Matthew McCrory and Michael J. Pollard. This seems to be a rare distinction for a movie that is not yet 20 years old (if going by the release year of 2003).
Dr. Wolfenstein's hairy lab assistant, lurking in the background, is unnamed in the film but listed in the credits - Rob Zombie.
This film would establish Sheri Moon Zombie as a Scream Queen. Ironically enough, she does not like horror films as they scare her too much.
Bill Moseley (Otis) and Jennifer Jostyn (Mary) share the same birthday, November 11th.
This marks the debut of Rob Zombies long series with loving wife Sherri Moon.
    Exteriors of the Firefly com
At around 37 mins) When Baby threatens to cut Mary with a knife, foreshadows near the end, when she stabs Mary to death.
Captain Spaulding tells Jerry when he asks about the house (of 1000 corpses): 'Do yourself a favour, son, just forget about it.', but he pushes. The film is very similar to Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and in that film, as the cast ask the petrol station worker about the house they are interested in, and he also tries to talk them out of it (saying they are liable to get hurt).

I have a lot of respect for Rob Zombie as a filmmaker because he sticks to his aesthetic styler 100% rather than trying to appeal to a large number of people. And he is willing to take risks, as seen in his Halloween remakes with how far they went from the source material.
That said, I don't think I will ever watch any of his movies lol

It’s laughable that Universal thought this was gonna get an NC17 rating… it’s such a cheesy and goofy horror film. I love it to death but it was not that graphic, the worst part was probably seeing Dr. Satan operating on the guy at the end, with his brain being exposed and chest/guy ripped open.

I've never seen a "slasher" movie before, still haven't. I'd heard of this film on the Howard Stern Show because he allowed Zombie to pimp it a lot. My idea of a good horror movies is "The Shining", "Ghost Story", "Dream Catcher". I don't care for sadism and torture...and I consider this type of movie truly sick. But, to each his own.
I have only showed up, as a gag, in my friend's skin twice in my whole life (two different friends, of course...one doesn't want to become redundant. Plus, the first friend reeked), and BOTH times I was chastised for my over the top "Morbid sense of humor." Why, they even called the cops on me. That really hurt my feelings.
