I'm really liking the "Dulcich jumps into one of his heaps and finds out how broken it is" Extras. Thanks for this!
I enjoy Dulcich's down to earth , knowledgeable awkwardness.
I also.
He is a favorite for sure.
Dulcich is quickly becoming the favourite Motor Trend personality.
Dulcich is Roadkill's secret weapon!
Roadkill Extra; "Dulcich Beats his Junk"
ralph nader Very good comment, very good😂
Thats funny, man!
Don’t Google “Dulcich Beats his Junk”.
I could Dulcich beat his junk all day....that's what it's for 🤷♂️
Oh man, worst combination of words ever. BAHAHAHA!
If anything is going convince me to get motortrend on demand, it's gonna be for more Dulcich content
I was thinking the same thing.
There is quite a bit. He is co anchor on roadkill garage. Great show.
Somewhere Lucky is thinking about putting a 6.0 in this thing with Tony breaking it on the same show.
Mister Old Skool Ryder that would be a waste. The car weighs nothing, a hot little 4 is all it needs.
Alex it has nothing to do with need and everything to do with fun.
You're probably right, but I was thinking a 318 poly
You mean breaking it, Tony is good at that...lol
I would try a turbo 5 🤔
says its a kinda rare car ... proceeds thrashing it.. 😂 love this guy😂
Its rare because they've all fallen to bits and rotted with metal worm
Hes probably beating on it because the parts are still readily available. I myself have a 79 triumph spitfire and can still get anything I need. Can get tr7 parts from the same places I get my spitfire parts.
Just caise its rare doesnt mean its worth anything
These cars are a blast to drive. Pure joy. Who cares if they are funky? They have the soul of a Roadkill car.
Keep these episodes coming! They're fun, no ego here, and like listening to a buddy. Simple and unpretentious. Great job MT & Steve! I'd subscribe for Steve's own show.
All his cars are covered in dust inside and out, love it!
James Wheaton That's rust prevention system.
The TR7 came out in 1975. I had a 1976 model. The last model was in 1981. The V8 version was called the TR8.
i dont think it was available in the US until 78. i was always surprised that triumph didnt make the TR8 with their OWN V8 (from the Stag etc)
@@petelattimer6808 It was available. There was a CA and a Federal version. CA model had more emissions. I had mine in Germany. It was a Federal model for use in Europe.
Love how Steve’s head lays over all Stephen Hawking style when he’s power shifting.
He's like a dog listening intently for the perfect RPM tone to slam the next gear.
Dulcich have you ever washed any car in your life?
I don't see the point, after one U-turn on the dirt road it's gonna be the same :D Plus he said it was sitting for a while.
Thats what rain is for.
Mine works better dirty..
👍
he only washes them when it rains
These Dulcich videos are awesome. Please more

Triumph TR7: The Shape of Things to Come.
Fun video. I remember long ago when my brother first saw my Porsche 924 (from the front 3/4 view) he said "A TR7?". I miss driving a fun little sports car.
Now
I actually want a TR7.... best road test vid I've seen in ages
and yet the water bottle stayed in... very impressed 😂
Steve doesn't know how brilliant and humble he is.
I found out about him from vice grip garage. He seems like a real dude not trying to be a celebrity
I love that car and the review of it. I had a tr7 a few years ago but wrecked it. Now i have a 1970 triumph gt6...nice car...man thats cool to see a british car getting some love...
Dulcich is just a cool guy!
There's me thinkin Dulcich couldn't get any cooler
A classic car and great video. Love the gravel detour.
Awesome! Great to see you out enjoying it! I've got a TR8 (along with a few other TR's). Thanks Dulcich!
Enjoy that tr8. I had one and the with the strombergs in it. timing chain broke, camshaft walked back and a piston went through the block. I couldn't afford to fix it and had to let it go. I miss that car to this very day.
In the back of my head " _Is this the video where Dulcich finally takes out the corn_ ?".
I have a 1980. Needs stuff. Thanks for the ride. Now I for sure want to get it done for summer fun.
lol Dulcich is awesome
I love my '77 TR7. What a fun car!! This vid shows how much fun they are. 2 liter OHC, 5-speed, dual Stromberg carbs. A recipe for fun. Great video!!
Dulcich behind the wheel is absolutely the best! He rocks! We need more of Steve's driving and commentary segments.....It's gold!
Dulcich is awesome!!
A lot of these TR7s and TR8s are yellow here in Canada, we call them "cheese wedges".
ha! dirt covered, open top, open driver door, with trash blowing out of the cab was a nice touch.
My Dad was a triumph guy. He had a TR7 and loved it. Nice to see Dulcich isn’t going to do anything wild to his. He is very knowledgeable.
"Triumph TR-7, the shape of things to come." I remember when these reached the US. The shape of things to come was their advertising slogan.
Joseph Santmyer
They nailed it there.
The wedge went big. It just wasn't their stuff people bought.
The wedge!
Same, remember seeing that ad when I was 13 years old. The thing came rolling up the back of a tractor-trailer :-)
My uncle restores mostly British cars and calls TR7s "The Door Wedge of Things to Come."
Television commercial was totally cool :30 seconds of TR7 jamming around twisty backroads to land in a wedge shaped redwood sided carport in Tahoe / Marin County ‘70s Style lair
A maniac in a 40 year old british death trap. No roll bar, no seat belt, no plates, and no fucks given by Dulcich. More of this kind of thing, please!
i'd like to see it restored in roadkill garage TBH
burnerheinz And with a little turbo on the original engine.
That would be antithetical to anything Roadkill.
Nice little car. I think it'd certainly be worth some TLC. Especially since it seems to be complete and original. I'm impressed that Dulcich not only owns something like that but is actually fairly knowledgeable about its history, components, etc. It's no mid 70's Dodge after all. The many complex layers of Dulcich. Renaissance man!
Where is Dulcich? I only see Steven Seagal's mother.
Bierkameel that is funny shit right there!
Priceless! We have a winner!
LOL !!!!
LOL! I thought the same! _"Where's Dulcich - and who's this crazy old lady messing around?"_
He's going for that beaver look, and it really isn't complete without the tail... But we luv Steve, so we put up with it..
I had a '76 TR7 Coupe back in the '90s. Mine had twin Zenith-Stromberg carbs. It was a lot of fun until the engine dropped a valve. Fun fact: The 4-cylinder engine originally came from a British tractor. There is a very interesting adaptor plate used to mate it to the transmission.
clutch slips for 3 seconds..."wow it shifts nicely"
One of my buddies had one in high school. It was a blast when it ran... all 2 weeks throughout our senior year LOL.
Another cream puff from the Dulcich Death Trap collection.
Lmao best coment ever !!!!
Haha, so true. Full of his tech tip half assed short cuts lmao.
Haha ...well you know...all these old original cars are like a death trap.
Also impressed with Dulcich's knowledge on old Triumphs :D
Steve, you truly are a renaissance man. Your knowledge of LBCs is exemplary.
Production started in 1975 with coupes. “90” bhp when new, please note that it’s in quotes 😂. Lt77 trans. Glad you enjoyed it! Nice find!!
This seat is comfy, cozy. You’re awesome Dulcich
I like the way he beats his cars up!!
My ex boss had a hardtop version of this with a worked over 3.5 V8 with straight through pipes. Thing used to hammer!
I remember the TR 7’s wedge shaped car. They were not without there problems. Good to see one that hasn’t turned into a pile of rust!
always fun to see watch. thanks dulcich
He is ripping it in the dirt with the top down I love it just banging on that old treasure. Pretty awesome to watch
Super cool! One of my neighbours in Australia had one of these and I never knew what it was but I really liked the looks of it. Wasn't until later that I discovered how many people absolutely haaaated the looks, before you ever got to how badly built a lot of the old malaise era British cars were.
For my money though, I still think it's cool. 😁
I’m loving these
I love the British sports cars. My friend liked the MGs. When he passed away, I helped his wife get them running to sell. Ended up taking his old 1975 MG Midget for a ride down the road cruising at 45 mph. What fun cars these are.
Love the body flex as he turns the corner. You can see the door alignment change. LOL. The coupes were better.
I was actually surprised. I didn't know Dulcich could be this entertaining. I'd subscribe just to hear more of this.
I've probly owned 10 or 12 TR7's/TR8's since 1996. Currently own a 1979 TR7 convertible!! Nice!
We had one of the hardtops with AC but it really bogged down the 4 banger. Removed the compressor and evaporator and installed them with a Mark IV aftermarket unit on an SS Chevelle, and that's still working 35 years later.
That just looks like too much fun!
Best review ever, fire jonny and hire Steve full time!!!
AlexCoronaPhoto agreed
“Residential area”
looks like a terrific car to build back up!
The TR7 was actually decent car with beautiful styling that holds up today. They did very well, if they stayed glued together on the SCCA and IMSA circuits. These cars were among the last of the last British Leland offerings. They were very complex for the time so the knuckle draggers at the corner muffler and break shop wouldn't work on em. Parts were expensive if you did find a non-brain dead to tackle it. They tended to break axles at the hub, sending your rear wheel down the median. Looks like Steve lucked out and got a good one.
I had a red TR7 convertible. I babied that car in every way . Wouldn’t think of starting it without checking every fluid and tire pressure. Kept it washed and waxed and garage kept under a cover. It was a delight to drive.....when it ran. Which was about half the time. It was the only car I ever drove over 100mph. Back when I thought that was a good idea.
Dulchich's driving stance is legendary, reminds me of Elwood Blues every time
Great video. This is a fun car to drive! It is very sporty, and has a very attractive, and a unique, stylish design. If you are lucky enough to see one it is guaranteed to turn your head at least twice!
Big regret of 2017 was missing out on a mint TR7 barn find for $400.
keep making the videos. I enjoy watching them.
The fact that it goes and stops is much better than some of the cars I've had.
Really like the style of the TR7/8
My moms summer car is a genuine TR8 with the 3.5 liter rover engine that has been converted to fuel injection and puts out around 250-275 BHP.
I worked at 2 British car dealerships in the 70s. IlRC the TR 7 came to the USA in 75. At first we only got Coupes with a 4 speed. In 77 we got the convertibles with the 5 speed. I never saw a fuel injected version. Personally I didn't really like the looks of them but liked to drive them. The acceleration and braking were adequate and the handling was really quite good. Even now l would love to have a modified Coupe with beefed up suspension, brakes and a mild street engine.
My dad has a 76 TR7. Java green I think. He bought it back in the 80s or 90s as a project because it had a pair of Weber's that came with it. I'm not sure if they started importing earlier than 78 or if somebody shipped it over but it's definitely a 76, VIN and dealer sales papers both confirm it.
The layout of this place reminds me of driving my 1970 buick lesabre during harvest. Good old American muscle going down the country Roads. Best feeling in the world.
Fuel injected TR7, very rare. Also, I believe the TR7 came out in 1974, cool vid!
Dulcich.
MORE DULCICH!!! @Motortrend!
Roadkill on TV. Priceless.
if you aint smokin' you aint trashin'... love it dul, keep it comin'...
love it! As a Brit my only slight disappointment with Roadkill, Hot Rod Garage, Engine masters etc is that we don't get the same cars as you over here. But I had a Tr7! And I had a load of Dolomites! To hear Dulcich even mention the Dolomites got me excited 😄 And also keep in mind the Dolomites had a 16 valve version of the 2 litre slant 4 found in the TR7 and that thing had 127hp! It was considerably faster than the 2 seater sports car TR7! And of course they slot straight in to the Tr7 making a nice easy power upgrade 😎
A small number of TR 7 Sprints were made. It was the Dolomite Sprint engine. The first build of the prototype Sprint engine gave 150 bhp, so they fitted a really soft cam. It's not hard to make them sing
Unfortunately the only Triumph Saloons sold in the US were the 2000 Mk. 1 (up to 1967), one of which I used to have. The sales figures for it couldn't possibly have justified the astronomical costs of redesigning and certifying any of the large or small saloons for US sale. The deluge of regulation begun in 1968 only got worse.
Dulcich, to me, seems like the best person of the whole crew.
best dulcich yet
give this man his own show
It makes me so happy that Dulcich has a Triumph.
Awesome, dude, mainly bang on, so surprised how well read on British motors you are! The only other car that had the 2.0 was the Dolomite Sprint, and that was in 16 valve form making 127bhp at 6500rpm. First 16v four cylinder in a production car and first car with alloy wheels as stock! The 8 valve in the TR7 was 105 bhp in UK trim.
I really want to add some interesting info for Dulcich. The engine is taken from SAAB. The 2 litre engine was also put in the dolomite "sprint" which was the top of the range dolomite. That engine was pumping about 130hp at the time!!
Triumph developed the 1850cc engine with sabb, both brands used it, the 2000cc tr7 was triumph specific, sabb had their own version of it. The 2000 16v was only in the dolomite sprint and a few tr rally cars. I worked on these new in uk and north America, early versions were built in Liverpool and had major quality issues
Always wanted a TR8. Loved that wedge shape! They came out right after I graduated high school and I had a '67 Mustang that I wasn't willing to part with, so that never happened. That car got destroyed by a drunk semi driver in an accident I was lucky to have survived. Can only imagine what would have happened if I was in one of those Triumphs. lol
He has so many fires burning it'll take two life times to complete all of them but love watching him because of his random knowledge of automobiles
I have to say Ducich has no problem thrashing his cars and everyone enjoys a good thrashing!
Dulcich is great - genuine, the spirit of what Roadkill is: owning lots of old shit that he gets working, and then thrashing it (with heaps of dust!!)
The car was in production before 1978. I owned a '76 and the parts store I used to go to (very often, I might add) had a few other examples of pre-1978 tr7 on the lot.
Let's not forget the TR 250. Morphing from TR4 to TR6. Looked great with the East West reflective hood stripe.
My dad had one of these, he dropped a Buick V6 in it and drove it daily for years.
"That thing hasn't moved in a long, long time''... then immediately proceeds to beat the sh!t out of of said car. Awesome. :)
This is just Dulcich having fun
Oh man, that looks like a fun driver!
A friend in high school in the 80's had one with a v8 it was crazy fast fun
Thanks! I needed a good nap..
the V8 model was called a TR8.
about 10 years ago, a used car lot had a TR8 for sale.
Always used to wonder what Steve was like seeing him in Magazines in the early 90's. I would get along with him just fine 👍
I'm from the UK and remember the TR7 coming out. Although it was a futuristic shape it was such a change from the gorgeous classic looking TR6 it helped to kill Triumph cars. My sister's first car was a Triumph Toledo a variant of the Dolomite you spoke of.
I saw an old MG on the road today. love these things as well
Dulcich seems to be a glass half full kind of guy, never a bad thing to say about anything. Classic.
