Can't agree more. I've been painting with acrylics for 2 going on 3 years, and only now I'm able to achieve the look I want. It's great that we can find people like you that explains this and is helpful. You did a great job on that painting, glad you didn't give up on it.

I really appreciate the part about working through the ugly layers. I don’t talk to other artists much, and when I’m at this stage I just feel so incredibly knocked down. I’m glad to know this is a common experience:) also I’ve learned a lot from you so far so thank u!

I can’t even tell you how much this short video has helped me! All my life my relationship to art has been love-hate and I judge myself harshly. I never get lost in time when I am drawing or painting or whatever medium I’m working in - quite the opposite, I need to take many breaks because I feel the intensity and pressure no matter what I’m doing and need to walk away frequently. Needless to say I my art pieces are few and far between. Acrylics seems like an easy medium in the sense of the clean up and I can do it quickly at home and not have such a mess as with oils however the blending seems impossible. Thank you so much for these tutorials I just discovered you recently and you give me hope and inspiration to have patience and take it slowly and keep on practicing!

Worst part of acrylic - you gotta layer. Best part - if something looks wrong you can add another layer.

What brilliant instructions. I personally love the monochrome first layer tip. Truly genius and I feel like it will improve my work so much. I love the turtles as well. I hope you gain more recognition for your constructive instruction.🤗

I have learned a lot from watching you and listening to your great advise. You have really helped to give me some more confidence today. Cheers from Melbourne Australia 🦘

Thank you so much for your insight. I completely agree with the frustrations as you go through the process with your painting. I have upon many occasions just tossed the canvas after many hours of work. It’s best to walk away and revisit when I reach that point which I am now learning as I am paying more attention to details and my artistry level is improving. I only paint acrylic on canvas yet, I have started to paint the same artwork on rocks. This is quite consuming since the rocks are anywhere from 2 x 2“ to 4 x 4”max in size. So a lot of details and also the rocks are porous even though I gesso so they absorb the paint and require more layering. But I find this quite challenging and they are wonderful to give us gifts. I’ve painted anything from cottages, to wildlife, and landscapes, etc. Love your channel! One of the best!
    Sorry this is so long…
