For those looking to get these tables, i've searched out most of them with some help in the comments:
1:32 Generic oracle
3:10 Ironsworn
5:12 Zathrum
7:00 Scarlet Heroes
9:15 Solo Adventurers Toolbox (oracle)
9:45 MUNE
10:51 MasterBook success chart
10:55 Solo Adventurers Toolbox (skill checks)
Benji T I think the success chart is from MasterBook
@@GeekGamers01 thanks! =))
Is that profile pic from dale of Merchants?
@@Luchiop good eye, yes it is!
@@Luchiop Nope. I don't even know what Dale of Merchants is.
I believe the oracle at 3:10 is from Ironsworn.
Yes! Thanks!
Came to post the same thing XD
Very helpful! I’ve been exploring several GM emulators and oracles with lots of large charts and sheets, and also decks, but none work smoothly for me. Thanks for the ideas. After watching I think I need to come up with something that works for my play style.
Yes always important to modify to do what suits you best. There are really no rules beyond that. :)
Your wallet is like an old, battered Tome of Knowledge. Instructive video. Enjoyed it immensely.
@usapatriot4163 Thank you so much! I like that image.
It's a filofax for RPG soloing, more handy than you may initially think.
Now you have me thinking of upgrading from a solo wallet to a solo filofax! Good idea! :) I actually have 20 year old filofax somewhere in a draw!
At 7:30 would love to know what your dissertation was about? 😊
Next we need an art and crafts lesson on how you constructed the cards. I'm all new to games. Thank you for your work!
A very interesting episode. Great resources for solo play. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise.
Wait, whaaaaat?! I never even noticed that you had this wallet, but it's such a good idea. It's similar to how I have an Altoids tin that I can smuggle solo game stuff.
I missed the solo wallet also. I now require one!
Very interesting, thank you. I thought that maybe the wallet tables were more for “hey I’m at the Doctors and feel like passing the time doing something I enjoy so let’s roleplay or world build”
Great video - love the idea and I share the same love of flipping through cards, I used to use plastic sheets for card collecting and would write spell descriptions or things on cards and put them all in a binder so I could reference them all as my group went from place to place.
Using those sheets to collect cards is a great idea. I have/had them for magic cards but not thought to do that in this context.
That's awesome! I was initially wondering why anyone would need more than one (good) oracle, but you've convinced me!
Your videos have inspired me to start working through my own solo rpg experience. I've decided on the nostalgia using 1st edition DnD and ADnD modules. But having many systems in my house, I think it might be an interesting video to hear your thoughts and perspective on systems that heavily rely on Player Directed Story... Such as FATE or Tales from the Loop or anything else that relies on players to set or manipulate the scene through actions or action points.
I’m glad to hear that my videos have been spared you in someway. Can you tell me more about what you were asking in terms of player direct the story? I have a glanceD thROUGH tales from the loop but not played it and not useD FATE at all. What else might be an example of that?
@@GeekGamers01 In Fate, the players can use actions to create "Aspects" on a scene: important details that they then use to their advantage. Other systems like City of Mist calls this "Change the Game." In Tales from the Loop, there is an entire phase that is "Scenes from Everyday Life" that are predominantly a player developed story line that the GM, with the players input just comes up with on the fly about the characters and their parents. In these three examples as well, the way you get players from one plot point to the next isn't so much on a railroad and not so open world either. The intent is that there is a back and forth between the players and the GM to craft the story (and world) together and the GM nudges them toward the main plot points of the adventure.
@@jasoncarlaritz5558 soooo.... I'm still missing something about what you're asking...all the solo stuff I do has player directed story--that's what the story is and where is comes from. There's nobody else but the player...
A Deck Of Many Solo Things
Thanks for sharing this. A really good "insider look" to soloing.
I enjoy your channel very much. It is exactly what I am looking for and the best resource for solo play to me.
Thank you so much. That’s so great to hear.
Very nice. Thank you for sharing this. I never noticed the wallet before. I suppose I listen more than watch most of the time.
Paying attention to probabilities is so very useful in most aspects of life. The high probability outcome is both predictable and often unremarkable when it occurs. It is those instances where low probability outcomes prevail that form the basis of our pleasant surprises and worst misfortunes. Noteworthy!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment.
That's a lotta oracles. I usually just use phone to generate things, roll dice, or write the story points in floating notepad app. While I also bring pocket character sheet 1/4 of my phone size, containing stats and items.
Is the pocket character sheet based on a particular system?
@@RottenMechGaming I create the system myself, so I guess yes? It just that it's still using your typical standard dnd stats but dumbed down (STR, DEX, CON, WIS, INT, CHA)
Hey, have you tried Mice and Mystics? With a few house rules it's a blast, and works really well solo. I bet you could dissect it and take elements from it and other games to make something cool.
Thanks for the suggestion. I know the title as a board game but never looked seriously at it. I shall. I'm itching to buy a new game right now.
@@GeekGamers01 Right on! Hope you like it. Here's a guide for some of the houserules I use that you might like: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1750209/comprehensive-quick-start-guide-new-players-check
I was literally going to ask if you could Appendix N your wallet!
The part of going from player to GM is true for me. I tried oracles but can't do it. I feel it takes me too much out of the game unfortunately.
Yes, that I can see--solo RPGing isn't for you in that case!
I've been solo RPGing for many years. I just use systems without oracles, Four Against Darkness, D100 Dungeons, Two Hour Wargames. Enjoy your videos.
That game map in the background of your video looks great, what game is it?
It’s from King’s Bounty (Task Force Games, 1991)
@@GeekGamers01 Many thanks for that and will check this game out
Hey, loved this video! Do you meetup with people to play D&D online? Like Roll20?
Thanks so much. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I do not play d&d online that way, no. Sometimes I listen to podcasts of other people doing it, however. :-)
@@GeekGamers01 Well I'm always to invite strangers to my games online if you'd like to try it out. I have schedualled an ALIEN: The Roleplaying Game campaign that takes place deep in Trailward space.
@@alexsgamingshow2474 Thanks but alas (especially now, but even before!) I'm already online enough. My gaming time is strictly analog.
Where did you get the oracle shown at 6:45?
As mentioned in the vid, I'm no longer sure. Some d20 system but I'm afraid I don't know, sorry.
Might be Zathrum
