    Boy, AP is such a humble fella.
    Great role model.
    As for Walsh, what a classy horseman.

    First saw ruby live riding for paul Nichols in 2001 on a horse called AD HOC and ruby won on it and he’d never even sat on it or schooled it , what a horse man 👍👍👍simply the best judge of pace , sadly missed

      Andrew Baker a lot of the time his mounts were backed in to favourite because of him riding it regardless and he did ride for top trainer/stables equals top horses to ride

    • @justinharper6909
      @justinharper6909 9 месяцев назад

      He rode the best of the best because he was one of the best. It´s like saying Messi or Ronaldo were lucky to play for Barcelona or Real Madrid. Well, they played for those great teams because they were Greats themselves.

    • @andrewbaker5584
      @andrewbaker5584 9 месяцев назад

      @justinharper6909 what a shit comparison! Ruby relied on good horses to win and Messi etc rely on themselves as there talented. U could of put half of the top jockeys on the same horses as Ruby and would of done same job as he did. I'm not knocking Ruby as I think he's brilliant horseman but so is loads of others if given the opportunity

    The best I ever saw. I remember him getting half days off school in Rathcoole to go racing in Naas or Punchestown. Commanche Court in the Ladbroke ... Papillion in the national. Great days great memories. Enjoy 'retirement' Rube, you're an absolute legend.

  • @thommobris

    Ruby was quite the talent & had some good days backing some of his rides (notably Hedgehunter in the 2005 National & Kauto Star in the 2009 Cheltenham Gold Cup). Hope he has a great retirement with family (& that we see him follow the lead of Mick Fitzgerald & AP McCoy as a TV pundit)

      Depends on what type of horse you want riding. If you’ve got a top notch horse you want Ruby on it all day long. If you want someone to drive home a donkey that has no chance its AP. For me, Ruby >>>>> AP. And I think McCoy knows that

      Never heard a more stupid argument so one threw his leg over steering jobs and one rode donkeys yet one is miles ahead were it matters winners says a lot really McCoy was well better

    Was adept at saving bookmakers a fourtune by falling at the last on to many occasions. One suspects by arrangement.!

    • @janegrant8522
      @janegrant8522 5 лет назад +1

      The reason he fell at the last on a few occasions ,was that he was in that position more than other jockeys,he is not stupid enough to fall off at 30mph,least of all for a few quid when his retainer was worth more huge with certain owners.

  • @markperryman1797
    @markperryman1797 5 лет назад +3

    Brilliant at falling at the last... But seriously a loss to the game, Mullins gets to pick the next stable jockey and who will be retainer for Rich Ricci?? Discuss.......

      @@markperryman1797 what, have you never seen Walsh get a monk on. God no had my first pony when I was three. My blacksmith worked for Noel murless and other trainers, me worked with TBS, hannoverians, worked for mouse morris plus had my own riding school, so been steeped in horses my whole life, my poor husband suffers a lot. My passion is racehorses and listening to my blacksmith tales about the TBS he's known.
