The best I ever saw. I remember him getting half days off school in Rathcoole to go racing in Naas or Punchestown. Commanche Court in the Ladbroke ... Papillion in the national. Great days great memories. Enjoy 'retirement' Rube, you're an absolute legend.
The most talented jockey I have seen . When the money was down in the big races , there was no other jockey who filled me with same amount of confidence as Ruby did . When Faugheen won the Champion Hurdle , few jockeys would have remained as calm as him when the chips were down . Truly a brilliant jockey .
And Faugheen in the Neptune! Watch the magic he does after the 2nd last.. how many jockeys can be that calm, that intelligent, and be back on the steel turning for home
I will miss watching him, he was so relaxed on a horse and could get them into a nice rhythm whether held up or making the running. All the best. The best ride in my eyes was on Tidal Bay in the Lexus Chase in 2012.
It was heart warming to see him try to not become emotional when all his achievements were read out. Bravery in the saddle and out, a retirement earned and truly deserved. Be lucky Ruby.
Cheltenham get the statue ready. Ruby and cheltenham. What memories. We have got so used to him there wining it won't be the same. As I've said Hurricane Fly Kauto Star Faugheen Masterminded Vatour just to name a few. Most jockeys are associated with one horse. Amazing how many Ruby had. Willie Mullins Ruby Walsh we are so lucky to have had this time in racing. He will be fine in whatever job he does but remember to come and see your fans in England .what a rider what a brain on a horse. God we will miss him. Sue Maher
The best to ever do it in jumps racing. I’m stunned as I thought he was still riding great and had 2-3 seasons at least left. But at least he retired on top.
“I’m not much of a Poker player so I didn’t fancy rolling the dice tomorrow?” Does he even know what Poker is? Sorry but I’ll never forgive him for THAT ride on Annie Power!
What a stupid pathetic statement 'Why?' what do you mean Why? We all make decisions, the sport ain't like playing chess, it's a gruelling sport, hard on the body..... Clueless you are ...
@@markperryman1797 simmer down. Willie Shoemaker won the (Kentucky) Derby @ 54, & Ruby still looks fit & healthy. It's up to him of course, but a reasonable person might think he could go a little longer.
@@comesahorseman Ruby is getting out because he wants to pursue other opportunities, he's had enough kicks n scuffs, he has time on his side and has won everything, ridden the best of the bests, the body won't take a lot when you get older, he needs to prove nothing.....
@@comesahorseman whatsupboyz who asked 'why' about Ruby retiring obviously can't think properly, not revising Ruby's history and thinking about his decision, btw I'm always chilled and knowledgeable about the sport and understand his reasons for getting out ....
All the best ruby you gave us all some great days and great wins
Super Leeds!

The master! Thank God we had Ruby Walsh! :)

Shocked that he's going but he went at the top and on his terms. His performances over the last few weeks have been as good as ever
