home edition (since I don't have access to the gym or squat rack 24/7) 1. Take a broomstick (or something representing a barbell) 2. Stand near the doorframe 3. Exercise! = profit!
Saw a couple guys today doing the first drill outside the rack as well as overhead squats to fix bar path. One of them mentioned it was a "JC tip" and I couldn't help but smile.
Having video notes to summarise the video is amazing. I think it's something that puts this channel ahead of most the others. And it's a great way to comprehend everything you mentioned
Candito:This video has changed my life. The bottom half squats are my new favorite accessory, after one session I much more comfortable and confident in the squat. (Currently making gainz on your linear program, thanks G)
I'm using this video to point me in the right direction for points to make for bar path during the box squat and how lower joint angles (hip, ankle, knee) affect it. If you have any studies you read if you could send them my way it would be of great help for my Thesis!
Damn, I just realized why I've had knee pain for the past few months, after trying this in the door frame at home. I couldn't even get halfway down before i scraped into the door frame. Thanks a lot Candito!
Johnie it seems everytime I have a problem with my squatting you somehow find out and make a video addressing it. I had problems checking my bar path due to lack of camera/people/mirror and I never thought of using my rack as a guide line. Thanks again for the great video
you have one of the best tips and indormations in whole youtube lifting comunity i learned more watching your chanal for a weak then other chanals for a year i mean there are other good chanals like (omar, tmw pog..) but your is the best thanks. You realy helped me a lot .
this is perfect man, i can hit depth nicely but i always feel i'm leaning a little too far forward... never confirmed with video but it feels like it. i've tried sitting back more but have lost balance from sitting too far back (even though i have oly shoes). but drills like these are perfect to get the pattern/feeling ingrained. i just finished my lower workout - wish i saw this earlier!!
Great video. Also if you could, keep including the video notes at the end. Sometimes I lose track of everything or don't understand something perfectly and that helps a lot.
Thanks man. Btw I always get stopped at the gym when I squat and deadlift about how to get stronger on those lifts and I always recommend your channel to them. Das it mane.
Damn ! I knew something was a bit off with my squats. On one or two reps, I could feel my heel leaving the floor coming out of the hole. I noticed that I wasn't as upright as I should when this happened. I can really picture me when you show what's wrong ! Once again, thank you dear sir ! My knees and I are very thankfull for your help :D
You're a pimp dude, always pumping out quality videos. I definitely will try these my next workout. Also interested to see how many people will be in the gym now performing your first mobility tip outside the power rack. "yep, that guy over there watches candito"
These se like awesome drills, wish I had a full power rack instead of a multi station now! With that in mind Jonnie, I think a good video for your beginner basics would be advice of what to buy for a home gym, ie quality of barbells, power rack or multi station, bumpers or steel plates etc
Hey Johny can you do a video on your approach to nutrition? Like, do you count macros or do you just try to eat close to your caloric needs? Etc... PLEASE THUMBS UP SO HE SEES IT!!!
Great tips and perfect timing too! Yesterday I was trying to figure out a way to keep my son from leaning forward, causing his knees to go out past his toes and like Beetlejuice this video appeared...Thanks a bunch...can't wait to have him try these.
Natural Gallant Bodybuilding haha raggin on my squat rack huh?... haha well once I get my subscriber gainz going, I might be able to make dem youtubez moneys like Jonnie and get a decent squat rack that doesnt fall apart haha.
Anferni Kriksus haha, amen brother!... you should have seen me before... I trained with cement filled milk gallons... granted they were used for curls, but still..... Haha
Hey Jonnie! Thanks for the drills! By the way, couldn't you just turn around, load the bar and then walk the bar to the rear of the rack instead of taking the bar out of the rack completely?
Hey man loving the videos. Quick question, Im having troubles staying upright in the squat which im thinking is due to a lack of quad strength as i have troubles activating and recruiting my quads in the squat (as stupid as that sounds) I find that on the lift its my glutes and hamstrings doing the work (predominantly glutes) I also tried incorporating pause squats but felt that when i was pausing, my joints would take the load, not my quads. Since noticing all this, i've switched to front squats to help myself learn to stay upright and push with the quads. one thing im noticing though is that i push primarily through my heels and nothing off my forefoot, but now that ive started pushing more off the ball of my foot, im feeling it more in my quads. sorry for the spiel but my question is, in order to teach myself to stay more upright, should i be pushing more off the ball of my foot as well as the heel in the regular backsquat to engage more quad and are there any other cues to help stay more upright? Sorry for the ramble, thanks again, love the videos. you're a legend
Hey man, nice video wish you put this earlier! My right knee (specifically patellar tendon) is constantly sore because my bar path was crap due to I suppose a weak core. This video is great for preventing this from happening, but do you have any tips as to what I should now to heal my knee issue? I've tried resting it for 2 weeks and it still is there. I've also changed to low bar from high bar because I've read this puts less stress on the knees? Thanks man.
CanditoTrainingHQ Can high bar squatting olympic style ever be as vertical as the bar path with the squat form you demonstrated in this video? I feel that there is always a slight lean forward when doing high bar oly squats, especially on the ascending portion.
I find that I'm so mindful of hitting parallel that my eyes wander to the mirror. It seems to psyche me out on heavier weights. Any advice/tips on how to avoid the "wandering eye" and just rely on instinct to hit parallel?
The biggest solution is not squat in front of a mirror. Sadly many of us cant. Then the next thing I would suggest is to focus on sensations more than anything. Try to push off of your belt and if you have knee sleeves use them, as both of those will make it easier to feel where your depth is without relying on visual feedback as much.
Jonnie, someone who's rather a bodybuilder", looking to maintain his muscle mass while dieting should do the control or hypertrophy template on your linear program?
love the videos jonnie, all your squat vids have helped me improve my squat form immensely. just wondering, how big are your legs brah? they look huge.
hey candito, me and my buddies find it difficult to do a normal squat with just the bar, but with weights i find it easier to go down. what do i have to do to be able to do a normal squat without any weights?? thanks!"
OGAesthetics Same here, my guess is that we are not squatting with correct form when that happens. I say this because if we did have correct form, we should be able to perform the movement without any weight and be perfectly balanced. With a lot of weight on your back its easier to go down, but that doesn't mean its correct form, its really just compressing you if u let it. I hope that makes sense.
Johnny. I am extremely tall (6'8") but more important it is mostly in my legs. As you can imagine it makes for a hard lever to get depth in the squat. I still work mobility 3x per week and Squat 1x per week, with Front Squats as assistance on my DL days. Do you think some guys levers just aren't meant to go below parallel? Or do you think it will eventually come with opening up the hips and strong quad development.
Work on your stance width, knee and hip position, and you should be able to squat to parallel. If you want to see tall people squatting then look at professional strongmen. Brian shaw is listed at 6'8 and he squats massive weights.
Wil Lyons I didn't think I could squat for a while and all I needed was a wider stance. If that doesn't work you just need to work on your hips and possibly ankles.
You weren't? Well youtube does seem to mess up quite often so if you "like" my page on facebook, I always post direct links to all of my new vids - facebook.com/CanditoTrainingHq
I get really nervous on every intro because I never know if you are going to do a fancy HQ or not.. Stahp raising my blood pressure
Feel trip dude
one day it will be a screamer
Until it's not raising something else is all good mayne
That's enough cardio for the day.
Squatting is art. It seems you can never know enough about it. Will try these for sure.
I could not agree more! The movement is a sport in itself. I think Tom Platz said something similar to that.
This has got to be the most value added channel on RUclips. Thanks for the tips sir.
Thank you that is exactly what I am aiming for! To hopefully not just provide info, but info that is practical, impacting your training positively.
this tip is so brilliant and straight to the point. Still effective 9 years later
Inb4 everyone unsubs due to no special "HQ" intro.
Unsubbed and resubbed
Jonnie, what happened to you man? you changed...
You set unrealistic intro expectations
pauerfull89 Oh just wait. I have some more ideas already in my head that will really set the expectations far too high after they're released.
CanditoTrainingHQ Unless I see a skydiving HQ intro whilst wearing a KaliMuscle shirt I won't be happy.

Little big man with big eyebrows, you are the best thing that has ever happened to lifting videos. My hat is off to you!
Having video notes to summarise the video is amazing. I think it's something that puts this channel ahead of most the others. And it's a great way to comprehend everything you mentioned
Thank you, I will absolutely do it for every video then. I'm always trying to improve every facet of the channel. I appreciate that feedback greatly!
CanditoTrainingHQ Thank you! i appreciate the content greatly, and all your beast lifts!
Candito:This video has changed my life. The bottom half squats are my new favorite accessory, after one session I much more comfortable and confident in the squat.
(Currently making gainz on your linear program, thanks G)
Great drills.. Can't believe I never thought of them before. Simple and effective!
Thanks for this. Was getting little arrogant about my form, this brought me back to earth.
I'm using this video to point me in the right direction for points to make for bar path during the box squat and how lower joint angles (hip, ankle, knee) affect it. If you have any studies you read if you could send them my way it would be of great help for my Thesis!

Can't believe I never thought of doing that rack tip... Awesome stuff as always Jonnie.
Johnie it seems everytime I have a problem with my squatting you somehow find out and make a video addressing it. I had problems checking my bar path due to lack of camera/people/mirror and I never thought of using my rack as a guide line. Thanks again for the great video
im replaying the video over and over
also playing it backwards and slowed down and sped up
i know theres some hidden intro in there somewhere.
lmao!
you have one of the best tips and indormations in whole youtube lifting comunity i learned more watching your chanal for a weak then other chanals for a year i mean there are other good chanals like (omar, tmw pog..) but your is the best thanks. You realy helped me a lot .
Thank you very much! I appreciate that greatly.
Great information as always Jonnie!
Thanks man! I have been having some trouble on my bar path. The bar next to the power rack looks like its definitely going to point out my weaknesses!
That first exercise looks very helpful. Gonna have to give it a go tmrw!
one of the best tip i found so far in helping my squat. great info!
Excellent excellent! Looks much more efficient then wall squats.
awesome Johnny for the tips... I believe this is a problem I encounter very frequently..
Hey Johnny, wanted to give you a quick thank you with your 6 week program. Gained 30 pounds in the DL and 25 in squat.
Nice video ..will show kids when I have them oneday..thanks HQ Mayne
this is perfect man, i can hit depth nicely but i always feel i'm leaning a little too far forward... never confirmed with video but it feels like it. i've tried sitting back more but have lost balance from sitting too far back (even though i have oly shoes). but drills like these are perfect to get the pattern/feeling ingrained. i just finished my lower workout - wish i saw this earlier!!
Gonna work these drills into this week's lower control day on your LP, thanks Johnny!
No problem!
Totally mind fcked over the hq still. That inception.
I have this very problem sometimes. definitely gonna try the second exercise. thanks Johnny!
Thanks Jonnie! Just purchased a shirt from your website!
Thank you for the support! :)
These are great tips! I've been having problems with this recently.
Great video. Also if you could, keep including the video notes at the end. Sometimes I lose track of everything or don't understand something perfectly and that helps a lot.
Ok thank you for letting me know. I'll make sure to make it a priority.
Thanks man. Btw I always get stopped at the gym when I squat and deadlift about how to get stronger on those lifts and I always recommend your channel to them. Das it mane.
Thanks for the tips. I will put this in practise with on of my client having this problem.
Used this in my warmups today an will now add to each day I squat. Appreciate the tip!!
I got some new oly shes, I have to correct my bar path again and this seems like the perfect drill.
Super helpful. Filmed my squat path and I had a problem, and this video helped a lot
Damn ! I knew something was a bit off with my squats. On one or two reps, I could feel my heel leaving the floor coming out of the hole. I noticed that I wasn't as upright as I should when this happened. I can really picture me when you show what's wrong !

Really creative ideas here. Thank you very much for posting this. I am going to use these tomorrow!
Great video, very informative and straight to the point!
You're a pimp dude, always pumping out quality videos. I definitely will try these my next workout. Also interested to see how many people will be in the gym now performing your first mobility tip outside the power rack. "yep, that guy over there watches candito"
Working on this exact issue now. Your tips are very beneficial. Thanks and keep raising the bar.
can you do a video on how you prepare for a meet? whats your schedule a week prior to a competition?
Beautiful beautiful, great
Thanks so much mr. Candito
Fantastic work
These se like awesome drills, wish I had a full power rack instead of a multi station now! With that in mind Jonnie, I think a good video for your beginner basics would be advice of what to buy for a home gym, ie quality of barbells, power rack or multi station, bumpers or steel plates etc
Awesome video man!! I can't be the only one who paused the video 15+ times lol I will be adding both to my squat routine.
Great tips, thank you Jonnie.
so simple yet effective. im doing this on my next squat day.
Thank you very much!
I really have not thought about those options before, thank you! Would love to see more technique videos :D
awesome exercises jonnie, especially the first one! you're the man!
Great tips. Just now found your channel. Subscribed.
Hey Johny can you do a video on your approach to nutrition? Like, do you count macros or do you just try to eat close to your caloric needs? Etc...
PLEASE THUMBS UP SO HE SEES IT!!!
Oh it is coming. Beginner Basics - Nutrition will be here soon enough.
Fantastic ideas, thanks for suggesting them brother!

No problemo, my ni...friend.
Only in the 2010s could you have comments like these lmao
@@raiyanislam4204 Wow. yeah man different time! This was the effect of being a young dumb college student in 2015. Certainly not something id do 2021.
Solid advice man, imma have to find a way to try this cause my squat rack is a piece of shit.
yes, Alves mondares, your squat rack is. lol
Natural Gallant Bodybuilding haha raggin on my squat rack huh?... haha well once I get my subscriber gainz going, I might be able to make dem youtubez moneys like Jonnie and get a decent squat rack that doesnt fall apart haha.
If you really wanna be precise your hole gym is. :) But that didn't stop you from getting stronger and get some pr dances along the way. ;)
Anferni Kriksus haha, amen brother!... you should have seen me before... I trained with cement filled milk gallons... granted they were used for curls, but still..... Haha
Great vid, can't wait to try these drills. Thanks
Gunna give this a whirl
Hey Jonnie! Thanks for the drills!
By the way, couldn't you just turn around, load the bar and then walk the bar to the rear of the rack instead of taking the bar out of the rack completely?
Okay, I gotta try these drills. Never thought of it.
You read my mind. I was just going to find info about correcting bar path problems.
Amazing tips. Thanks man.
thxx for the video, some problem ive been dealing with for a long time. Hope this will fix it!:)
The secound one for me gives the greatest time under tension ever.
Excellent video! I'll be sure to give these a try and post the vid on FB to get you some more followers.
This was great ! I needed a tip like this
That is what I love to hear! Glad to be able to help out.
Have you already mentioned in a video on how to keep the elbows down during the squat?
I'm doing this next time. You are a genius.
Awesome Jonnie! Thanks.
Hey man loving the videos. you're a legend
I have the opposite problem my sqauts are almost all quads I never feel anything in my glutes
nice eye brow
Candito, thank you! I needed this!
Fighting thru that sticking point with a correct bar path is a bitch but so worth it.
Since a couple of weeks I feel it alot in my lower back other than in my quads. I solved it by moving my knee's more out if ya know what I mean.
to go in place of the squat outside of the squat rac you can squat as close as you can to a wall
Hey man, nice video wish you put this earlier! My right knee (specifically patellar tendon) is constantly sore because my bar path was crap due to I suppose a weak core. Going to try this. My squat game recently has gone to shit.
hey jonnie, what do you recommend to strengthen hip flexors? also great video!
Очень разумные и грамотные советы. Спасибо, бро.
Another great and informative video brah!
hey candito, me and my buddies find it difficult to do a normal squat with just the bar, but with weights i find it easier to go down. what do i have to do to be able to do a normal squat without any weights?? thanks!"
i got the same problem dude
***** i do train hamstrings and glutes. lol still cant do it
OGAesthetics its always going to be easier with a bit of weight because it helps your body to balance itself as well as sink deeper into the squat
yes but if you see his tutorial he can squat witch just the bar very easily and i cant do that
