I don’t know about you, but I see some chipping where he drilled to post holes. Check when he zooms in at around 6:40. The hole closer to where the trem arm would be… that one looks chipped. Just sayin. I’m about to do mine and I’m hoping I can avoid it. I saw another video where the guy takes a bit and slowly rotates it by hand. Extremely slow. And he slowly carved away the paint. Only then does he still out the wood. I’m gonna use a drill press too I think. I wish I could slow the speed down super slow. I can only adjust to certain speeds and it won’t go as slow as I want. Anybody have any tips on not chipping the paint around the post holes?
sounds like you already answered you own question. Your drilling holes in your guitar, be a man about it ffs. I would be more worried about driving the anchors in as far as the paint goes. If your that worried, then don't do it . what you are calling chipping on my video is bullshit ! lol.. once the trem is installed, you won't see it anyway . maybe you should take it somewhere and pay someone tip dollar to do it for you!
You make a very good point. I've done this a few times and it does require far more care than is displayed in this video. No need for the ungracious reply to your post either...
I'm really happy to see the pickguard fitting perfectly! First all the screw holes and now the bridge lines up with the pickguard without any file work.
I’ve always ran the drill in reverse like going to bigger tuners.. then it won’t chip or splinter your neck. I don’t know if the same thing applies here. But I may try if.

Anybody have any tips on not chipping the paint as I drill the post holes? I’m about to do this same project.
