    I bought a Sigma 150 600 two weeks ago for my Z50 and I’m very pleased with its performance for its price.

      I agree that at it's price, it performs extremely well. I'm very happy with it too, I just wish it were a little snappier to focus on fast moving objects. Otherwise totally worth it!

    Subject tracking is excellent on the Nikon D500. The D500 paired with the nikor 200 -500 is the best wildlife setup.

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  2 года назад

      Dang, I wish I could verify that, but to be honest I totally believe you. I still want to get my hands on the 200-500 even if it's just to try. Sometimes things are expensive for a reason, and while on some level I still wish I got that lens instead, I am plenty happy with the sigma too. Thanks for watching!

    I like your review. I am looking at this lens when I go to Yellowstone because buying nikon 200-500 with ftz will be really costly. I am still debating if autofocus would be quick enough when paired with z6ii for shots of wildlife that is moving. I really want nikon z 200 - 600, but who knows when it comes out and its cost. Great video and spot on review

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  2 года назад +2

      Thanks my friend. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say if the subject is moving slowly, you'll probably be ok, but for fast moving objects you'll be frustrated. Now the Z6ii has better AF than the Z50 so there might be an improvement over my experience. I'd really love to try the 200-500 nikon to see if it focuses better. Besides that, if you go with the Sigma, I think you'll be plenty happy with the image quality. It's a hell of a value for that price point. I'd recommend Adorama for the purchase, because they always have extras that they throw in, like great Haida filters which is what I got. Overall I'm very happy with it, and it takes amazing pictures. Enjoy your time at Yellowstone. That's a great place to use this lens for sure.

    This is great! Your video, photos and storytelling blow the Tony Northrups of the world out of the water. Tells you something when a guy as good as you has so few subscribers and views. What a cool (and big) cat! I feel for the feral one. You're kind to feed it. Looks like you're in my part of the world now (northwest Connecticut). For bird photography I use Nikon's 300mm f/4 PF lens on the D500 and Z50. I, too, do lots of shooting around the feeder, which also attracts bears, bobcats and red foxes. I chose the 300 PF because the 200-500 is way too big for my handheld style of wildlife photography. I'm pushing 70 and still bushwhack. The other day I had to crawl down a steep slope backwards as it was getting dark. I shudder to think how I would have managed with a 200-500. Keep up the fine work, my man.

      Hello my friend! What kind words and wonderful lens choice for yourself. I'd love to have the 300 as well to give it a whirl. I find a lot of my shots are usually under 300 so what more could I possibly need. It's nice to have the reach at 600mm (or effectively 900mm on the Z50) but something tells me your 300 puts out better quality, not to mention faster, which is a big help on the aps-c. I don't regret my purchase and am having a lot of fun with the sigma. Your birdfeeder sounds more wild than mine, for sure. I have had hawks and merlin, but no bears that's for certain. The closest I get to bobcats, are the feral cats I support through the cold. It does do well with songbirds though, so that's my focus from the warmth of my kitchen, yuk yuk. I do need to get out and shoot more in the wild. it's on the list for sure. I wish for you much interesting wildlife to continue frequenting your feeder, and don't stop won't stop. It's the joy that we've discovered that keeps us young. Thanks for the support! Cheers!

      @@ogcameraboi Glad to have the 300mm, if only because it proves how good my cheaper lenses are. I'm hard-pressed to tell the difference between it and the 50-250 at one-seventh the price.

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  2 года назад +1

      @@robwinklerphoto2189 Wow that is quite an endorsement for the cheaper lenses. I'm sure you make good use of the aperture advantage in low light though. I wish I brought the 50-250 with me too, but I thought it would be redundant, and with limited space for travel, I decided against it. Still, I found myself wanting to use it a few times. Next time I guess. Cheers my friend!

    I ordered a new Nikon Z FC, but I overlooked the lack of "SLR style bulky right hand side grip" too, I can work with that, just have to make a few changes to the way I carry it.

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  Год назад

      No doubt. I have said before that I do love the Zfc. She is a beautiful camera with excellent controls, and a few things I wish Nikon would put in a firmware update for the Z50. I personally do prefer a good grip, but I wouldn't in any way be disappointed with the Zfc. Enjoy your new camera!

    What are you video settings for filming your cat indoor with 50mm lens?

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching. I appreciate the support. For the 50mm, the nice look is totally because of the glass, but when possible do the 180 shutter rule so 1/50 of a sec, because I shoot 24fps. Most of the time wide open at 1.8, and adjust iso accordingly. On the rare occasion I will set it to auto iso. As far as picture profiles go, I go between flat, portrait (which I think looks great out of camera), or a fuji profile I downloaded that I like, which I have set to one of the custom choices. I also use lens and electronic stab, because that was all hand held. I hope that helps. Thanks again!

    Nice review, how is subject tracking of full frame nikon Z5?

  • @100forms8
    @100forms8 2 года назад +1

    Full frame will not give you same reach though. And if you crop it, you end up with less pixels. Let's say you have 24 mp full frame. If my math is correct that would give you 10.6 mp crop of the APS-C size. That is twice less than z50's 21 mp. My point is, if you are going to crop it anyway (shooting birds), it's better to use APS-C.

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  2 года назад

      Very true about the reach. I do admit that having a potential 900mm reach is a nice advantage for sure. Don't get me wrong, I love a good aps-c and mostly shoot on them. Truth be told I only have the Z6 full frame, and tend to grab my Z50 for shooting pics. I love it and think it has great image quality.

    Hi mate. Nice review. what do u think about sigma's performance on d7500? Which is better? Thanks

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  2 года назад +1

      Hello my friend. Thanks for watching and I wish I could tell you the answer to your question but unfortunately I sold my d7500 before I got the lens. I would hazard a guess that the d7500 might perform a little better with the 3d tracking and no adapter though the adapter does work very well. I remember really loving my d7500 and wouldn't expect it to perform worse. If that's your setup and you are looking to buy this sigma, please let me know how it works out for you. Cheers!

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  Год назад

      The only thing I could possibly think of, is you might be using too high an ISO. Unfortunately, the lens isn't very fast, especially at 600mm, so bright lighting conditions are definite must for good video. I wouldn't push it past ISO 400 personally, or maybe ever 800 if required, otherwise I'd expect grainy video. Keep the aperture wide open, and remember that since it's an aps-c sensor, you are dealing with a crop factor of 1.5, making the lens an actual f6-9.5 ish. Hope that helps!

  • @aritradey1931

    One question. Which is a better setup with Sigma 150-600mm for wildlife and bird photography? D7500 or Z50?

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  Год назад

      I wish I had the answer to that, because I sold my D7500 before buying the lens. My gut says it's probably the D7500. Something tells me that with the 3D focus of the D7500, you might have better performance. Also, though the FTZ adapter does work very well, not needing it to pair the lens with the D7500 might be an advantage. It's all theoretical though, and just my opinion. If video is important to you at all though, I'd go with the Z50.

      No doubt the quality is affected behind more glass and I certainly do no recommend it if you have the option of shooting outside. I simply did that for demonstration purposes. That being said I have captured some really beautiful images even from behind a window. The Sigma is a beautifully sharp lens but you know that having one yourself. Thanks for watching.
