Thank you for all the useful tips! As a first time TOPIK taker I am sure this will be very useful :D The tip about reading longer and longer articles is pretty useful - I've taken a few past paper tests in one sitting and the 읽기 is really tedious. I wish there was a magic trick to read faster too within 2 weeks lol 😔 And news is super boring but scanning the headlines definitely looks useful!! 고마워요!!
This is the most real tips that I have heard. OMG! I thought that I was too slow in learning. Almost give up, since I started working on my TOPIK 2 papers. As you said, unfortunately there is no shortcut to master & get familiarized with all the vocabs, grammars & sentence structures. To achieve higher level of TOPIK 2 really need to spend more time & read A LOT. Hopefully I can maintain my consistency in learning.
I discovered your channel recently and it's great! I'm learning Korean and Japanese but you motivated me to pick up Chinese again and start learning Thai (not a lot of people learn Thai so it's great to see someone on RUclips sharing their journey with Thai, so motivational)! :D
Interesting video! I am not taking topik in the near future as I am a beginner. I'd like to ask you a question, in the beginning of the video you said you started to study Korean in 2008 and in 2009 you took topik 4th level. I guess is topik II, 4 급... Amazing! How did you do that? Do you have any tips? I learn new vocab everyday and I try to listen to Korean everyday as well :)
Hi Marina! Thanks for watching :) Back in those days TOPIK was divided into 3 separate papers (beginner / intermediate / advanced), and I took the intermediate level (i.e. if you pass you get either level 3 or 4 depending on your scores). It sounds like you are making great progress too! Consistent effort will always pay off!
Thank you so much! This is so useful :D but I was wondering, without using flashcards/ memorisation tools, wouldn’t it take a really long time to learn those words?
Hello Charlene! Thanks for watching! Actually it depends on your learning style. Flashcards don't work for me cos I hate rote memorisation. I learn better with a context and hence I prefer learning new vocabulary by reading widely. To me, flashcards are like vocabulary lists (even if you add an example sentence etc - then it looks like a dictionary). Learning takes place during the PROCESS of searching up new words (meaning + example sentence) and writing them down. (So I would think the process of making flashcards is more important than actually using them) I've never reviewed my vocabulary notebook (in fact I threw away 8-9 of them) cos I rather spend the time reading new articles (and potentially coming across the same words). If I don't remember what I've already searched up, it's ok, I can do that again. After seeing the same words for a couple of times, I would naturally remember it :)

I don’t do any rote memorisation on vocabulary either, so I’m a bit relieved that the strategy is shared... especially since you’re brilliant
taking the TOPIK next month! Thanks for the tips :)

Does the 읽기 book above have reading tests like in topik?
