I get that some reviewers are saying the price is to high for a 3ds port, but that should only be a side note in their reviews. Lots of switch owners probably never played this and want to know if they should pick it up. This is why I like jrpgjungle's reviews, she talks about the game as a gamer/reviewer instead of just a reviewer. Plus you can always tell when she ends up really liking a game.
@@buckroger6456 i mean mostly attitude - if reviewer think it's worth price is more positive about game, if think it's too expensive will be more negative. So i'm always happy if reviewer try to look for production value in games, little things that demands lots of work and passion from devs.
and i bet some of the other reviewers have a.) never played a game in the genre or b.) don't like the genre period, it really grinds my gears when reviewers do one or both of these thing unlike jrpg jungle
I bought this last week and it's my first Rune Factory game, I absolutely love it and I've played for about 30 hours so far. I love games where you can go at your own pace and the freedom to do what you like, it is worth every penny of the £30 I paid for it. Really enjoyed watching your review too.
$40 is a great price for this. The game is such a relaxing and charming experience. The quality of this port makes me hopeful Radiant Historia eventually gets a port somewhere.

Got the archival edition and it’s sooooo pretty, played a bit but definitely a game I’ll keep going back to for a looong time secret of mana meets harvest moon in the best possible way. Thank you for ace review 😄

I was very intrigued with the way you described your experience with Rune Factory 4, as I myself have the same thoughts. It is very fun to choose what aspect of the game you would like to focus on, whether that be the story, farming or relationships. I did have the same problems with the game as you described, as I found myself becoming discouraged after exiting a room when almost defeating a tough enemy. Also, I would give Margaret a rock or lumber accidentally when she would be following me. I believe I am almost done with arc 2 and I am very much looking forward to the next one. Great review, Tara!
I had picked up the 3DS version like right before the Switch version was announced. When the Switch version was announced, I decided to wait until it came out before playing more of the game. I'm glad I did! The game looks great on Switch and has been very enjoyable. Just finished the first season now.

Something I'm definitely looking at picking up sometime in the future and I had fun with the 3DS version, however I've got a backlog that's looking pretty good, so I might try and finish a couple games in that first.
I would love to play this game right now as ive been meaning to get to it for years but animal crossing is coming out soon so thats top priority and im sure that will take up most of my time for the next few months 😅
Where does 8.6 come from ? Just curious because I think I didn't see score for each category. Like I will put 10/10 for character but 6/10 for graphic because the upscale is ugly. I still love it tho.
Good question! Tbh, I don't have a set scale or anything these days, but I have a few things that influence my score. Usually if a game is addictive, I end up giving it 8.5> since I would generally argue it's doing enough things right for it to be extremely fun and enjoyable. For RF4S specifically, I think the way it makes the gameplay customisable to most people's play style is impressive and putting that with an improved (maybe not perfect, but improved) aesthetic, a great script and everything else made me feel okay with giving it that number :3 I hope that answers your question!
If you plan on getting into this series avoid rune factory 1 and 2 they haven't aged well at all.Rune factory 3,4,and frontier are the only ones worth playing imo.
This look's neat but at this stage I'll hold off, yet too go through 'Fire Emblem Three House' for a second round with the added DLC and playing Atelier Shallie. On that note Steam has a same on the Atelier games; Atelier Sophie is where I started and it's still in my top 5.
@@JRPGJungle I think they're still great Atelier games in their own right; though from what I can gauge Firis isn't well received which is a shame. Over the last few years so many fantastic JRPGs have come out it's difficult to keep up and this year isn't slowing down either. FFVII remake is out real soon, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX only released today as well as the new Yakuza and a Ryza 2 got teased recently.
Seems I have a lot to catch up on since I only have the first game and tides of destiny. I still need to get the rest of the games on ds line of systems. And rune factory 5 is coming out in the near future so yeah I got a lot to catch up on.
is Rune Factory a third-party to Nintendo or first-party? Is there any CHANCE of it coming to PC? or would it be as likely for it to come to PC as something like Mario(none at all)?
I couldn't tell you if it's first or third party, but it's not developed by Nintendo (was developed by a company called Neverland and this release is done through Marvelous games I think) It's got more of a chance than Mario for sure IMO! For some reason (maybe the touchscreen?) I'd expect them to put it on more portables (maybe smartphone and/or tablet) before PC, but it would be great if PC players could try this game too :)

That game needs a port for sure. Such a great rpg that just didn't sell as well as it could have.
Buck Roger I picked up the 3DS version a few years back and it still holds up great. Doesn't really need much to change to go on other systems either.
