    Been wondering when watching various clips from different ppl. When u buy all these different items to go in to canopies, is there płaces that specialise in fitting out/installing and advising on the best way of doing things? I come across lots of mod's that make sense when I see them, but I wouldn't know in what order to do a build.

    Ronny what is your opinion on an older Land Rover Discovery? Like a 2002 4x4 not AWD or such. I'm trying to build my first overland vehicle and am trying to decide on what to build. I don't see many Toyota Land Cruisers where I live in Canada but there are several Discoveries for under $10,000 . . . . Cheers

    • @HAPPYFUNTIMEx2
      @HAPPYFUNTIMEx2 7 лет назад +1

      A 2002 Land Rover is not the most reliable thing on the road. They can work, but I would not trust it to bring me home from a real adventure. Why not go for an LX 470? Should be similarly priced and much much much much more reliable. Just an opinion from a nobody though.

    Why have the antennas on the front? Can't they be at the back? They seem to be a irritation to the visibility up front!

    • @adelarsen9776
      @adelarsen9776 7 лет назад +4

      Well spotted Sir.
      In most cases, a better performing antenna may be mounted further back and leave the view of the driver unimpeded.
      I am happy you spotted this and commented because most people in the 4wd game just follow each other like sheep and put big antennae up front.

    • @tomvalter720
      @tomvalter720 7 лет назад +2

      Ade Larsen In Scandinavia the standard is to try and put it as much in the middle of the roof as possible. That way the whole roof can become a receiver and give good coverage :) the trend seems to be front for Australia, back for America and middle for Europe

    • @adelarsen9776
      @adelarsen9776 7 лет назад +4

      Yes, if only Australian's realised that a small antenna mounted in the middle of the roof worked better than some of these monstrous erections they place on the bulbar in view of the driver.
      In fact, I have a video on my channel about this subject, showing mounting UHF, VHF and HF on the middle of the roof. It's called a Ground Plane. You might like it.
      Also, my family is from DK and Norway and I have lived half the year every year in Norway. I have also lived and worked in Finland, Sweden, DK and Norway.
      Where are you from ?
      Hvor komme du fra ?

      For a tidy job, also get a role of aluminum duct/heat tape for the joins. I have removed my saggy roof lining in my 4x4 and replaced it with the double sided alloy 10mm foam roll you can get from hardware or left overs from a building site, It cost me around $50 rather than $400 for a reline and is also good for under bonnet lining .. Its a big improvement my truck looks like a spaceship with all the electronics, switch panels, and conduit..
