My roommate and I just sat outside at 10:30pm Saturday night and binge watched some of your Amazing videos. You are by far my favorite artist and I share you with all my artist friends. As I have told you before- your generosity in sharing your knowledge and skill and ideas is such a gift you give to all of us- especially Me! Thank You Dear Louise❤️ You are helping me grow my confidence as an artist. I hope you continue to create and share. I Love watching you mix paints and especially hearing you talk about your thought processes as you work on your pieces. Your thoughts about “nothing is ever wasted” and “never give up on a painting” is extremely helpful to me. Have a Great Week! Much love from one of your biggest fans- Jalyne in Utah USA ❤
I'm trying to bust out of my anxiety riddled realism painting. Paying obscene amounts of attention to details, etc etc - and this was so helpful!! Thank you!!
wonderful fun! I do love playing with the textures created by random tools. Thanks for the tip about saving the beautiful pieces of tape in a book! they inspire new color palette ideas!
Yes this is great. What I do is save the cardboard tubes off paper towels and cling wrap etc then wrap in string, beads, rubberbands etc making tools for continued use.....
Love this! I have a huge glass bowl of all of my paint chips that I scraped off of all of my palettes from all of my paintings for the past 10 years lololol Artists are weird this I know.
That was fun. Only one caution....bubble wrap is used by so many "artists" now, that it's no longer a clever trick or something we all haven't seen too often in my opinion. I like the way Louise still considered composition, balance, & variety even while "just playing".
This has reminded me I can play at the beginning of a new piece, I’ve been feeling tight and intimidated by a bank board thinking I needed to get the loud conversation sorted out first - this suggests to me ok just play make marks its only layer one the curating and editing can come later! Thanks for the inspiration
So inspiring to see you painting. I feel like happiness and want to start play with colors and different tools. Thank you for sharing! And your painting was so wonderful. Wow!!!
I loved how you said that you don't take care of the brushes that's why you buy them from the hardware store ❣️ And those are great brushes and if you mess one up you can use it later in an art project because the handle is so pretty.
What a terrific demonstration, Louise! Thank you so much for showing ways to make unusual marks with the most basic items. I can't wait to go experiment and see what evolves.
I really like the creative use of different things laying around! i guess it takes a lot of practice to master the harmonious combination of all these techniques on the canvas.
I really appreciate that you share all the parts of making a picture. I discovered in another video that I prefer cool greens, and use too many colors in my work. I love experimenting with non traditional tools but that comes along with doing collage and mixed media work. Thanks so much!
So inspiring I've watched the 2 videos that I've just found. God does have perfect timing because now I'm just going to get to painting just very soon. So thank you so much 👌🏼🙌🏼❤️
I found this really really helpful and inspiring. I realise that the FYJ course is about feelings rather than techniques or critiques, but actually seeing the practicalities explained like this is fantastically liberating. I just don't 'know' enough. I need permission to do crazy things... it literally extends my field of operation. I want more of this. I would like to know more about paper, canvas, board, books, pens, inks, paints, gels, toners, printing, etc etc.... I want to expand my operational area... without missing the potential of various materials through not-knowing. Thank you very much indeed.
I'm just starting as a painter and I was looking for techniques, inspiration, a style of painting and yours really speaks to me ! Thank you for your videos and for sharing your talent 😊
It is always good to have these reminders. And I love watching you paint. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Most of my mark-making tools are random unconventional painting tools.
Sono italiana, non comprendo una parola di quello che dici ma nonostante ciò, mi bastano i tuoi esercizi per aiutarmi moltissimo a capire come migliorare la mia passione per la pittura. Grazie davvero, sei la migliore.
I just discovered you. I have been painting for 2 months and I am obsessed. You are amazing! Thank you for the inspiration I was looking for in my current piece. So great. So so great. Thank you!
That was really helpful and so creative- I'm just starting to "play" with all sorts of objects and tools - Plus I really did like your final art piece. Very much.
Thanks Louise for your enthusiastic teaching I knew zilch about abstract and layers ...have now more ideas that I will practice. May you continue in your gifting of motivating those hungry to learn .......Blessings . Margie.
I've just re-committed to art practice and this is pretty much the stage I am in, filling small sketchbooks w paint marks, colors, textures...thank you
I love the idea of using my garbage as paint tools! That strip off your wax paper was brilliant! I particularly love the bottom right corner of what you've created here, where the scratch marks look like stems! I will definitely try this, and some of the other techniques you used here. Thanks, Louise!
Thank you so much for sharing. It is fascinating to watch the way you work. I just listened to the podcast earlier today about sharing your knowledge and techniques.
I watched this a few months ago and enjoyed it but having learned a little more in the interim I came back to this and got so much more out of it. So instructive and helpful. Thank you
Loved this. Love your accent and your straightforward delivery style, very educational. I learned a lot from this. I kept thinking ‘what? No! Oh! Really? This is a mess, oh wait, it’s not. Wow’. A video on using colour would be good. Thanks for this.
This is my second comment but I must. By watching this video and others you took my art work to a level I have never known. It's looking like who I am. Also painting big with all of these different tools is just magic. The glazing is also just magic. And the main thing asking what do you like and what do you not like, that is KEY!!!. I'm definitely taking your course. Imagine what I could learn and be inspired if I took your course. Thank you for all that you do.
Love watching you play with different tools for marks.
More to come!
That bubble wrap was fire
❤❤❤
I can go back and paint with a fresh eye. Thank you Louise!
You are so welcome!
Just so wonderful……my idea of heaven, watching all these wonderful textures develop.
Aww so glad you enjoyed it!

Have you ever tried putting elastic bands around the painters foam roller? It produces some interesting textures and marks😊
Yes this is great. What I do is save the cardboard tubes off paper towels and cling wrap etc then wrap in string, beads, rubberbands etc making tools for continued use.....
@@rebeccabriggs2982 that is a great idea!
