    I've just been on a three-day break which included 2hours of car travel (up rocky mountains -- I'll add I was not driving), walking up a hill, cooking, cleaning, meditating, and breathwork -- for reference a 10-minute car ride was undoable 3 months ago without a severe reaction. I'm back home and I have symptoms and I simply tell my brain "thank you for trying to protect me, but you don't need to, I am going to be okay." This doesn't make the symptoms magically disappear but it helps me accept they are there and know I am not severely ill or have impending doom. I may feel rough for a few days or more, I also may not, but I accept I'm on this ride and making life changes I would never done so had I continued with the lifestyle I have before being unwell.

    I like your example about the public speaking. This is exactly what has happened to me when the symptoms have flared for more than a day and I still feel bad. Now I actually have other illnesses as well but I do also have Long Covid which is making me feel even worse than I normally would. I worry greatly about what others will think of me if I'm just laying in bed all day, seeming "lazy" doing nothing but resting. But now I finally understand that rest is what my body NEEDS, so to hell with the naysayers I'm going to start getting more of it!

    Great video. Take away from this:
    When you suffer with symptoms you tend to worry, it's not because you are a bad person or it's your fault.
    The body is resilient enough to handle much more than what we realise.
    Anxiety and worry will amplify the symptoms
    Stay calm when symptoms appear.
    Thanks Miguel. I found your videos 4-5 days back and they are helping me.

      @@cfsrecovery I’m slowly on the mend. I was also bed-bound for several months but now I’m up and walking. I’m still housebound at the moment, but I’ve made a lot of progress in the past few months. I do agree that a degree of it can be mental so I work on mindfulness and meditation when I can. I think I also discovered my root causes. It was a combination of my thyroid meds being too high and my iron and vitamin d levels being too low in my body. It seems as I slowly correct those issues my energy and reactive Hypoglycemia slowly gets better.
      For some reason going keto seemed to trigger it all.

    I feel ME/CFS for me has become conditioning/programming because when I'd crash it was so debilitating & scary I'd become scared to even try to come out of it. So I gave up trying for so long, there just didn't seem to be an answer. As soon as I felt a bit better & tried to move forward & I'd crash hard but I didn't realise I'd have to try to advance soooo much slower than I was & be Ok with that. 'Patients' is the key & giving yourself a pat on the back for all the very little things we do achieve. As driven people, we expect so much of ourselves. I looked into brain retraining for my severe anxiety & then the penny dropped. I have so many learned behaviors from experiences but they don't have to be that way. I can be safe challenging myself in small ways & benefit from that. Thank you. 🙏

    I think this is bang on for me. I really relate to what you say and it's a very hopeful message, thank you! One thing that bothers me is when I see/hear about people who clearly have something very extreme, like Whitney Dafoe, for example. I can't help thinking they must be dealing something more serious and different in nature - something which I certainly hope is not what's going on with me, even though my symptoms are bad. I think it's important, though, not to get caught up in other people's experiences, but it is something of a sticking point in my thinking. Thanks for the great content, Miguel.

      Hey Mike, yes there's always going to be people who are worse and better. There's all types of people we will come across on this journey. Some people do you have underlying medical conditions that can be making CFS so much worse. Try to listen to people who inspire you and open your mind up to the possibility of a brighter future, that would be my advice. It can be tempting to go down the rabbit hole of listening to absolutely all the content there is on CFS. Best of luck on the journey brotha 👊🏼 Here to support you

    Great insights, thank you. One thing I don't know if you talk about much is how certain foods (junk food, processed foods, etc.), can also wreak havoc on our already hyper-sensitive dysfunctional autonomic nervous system condition, and cause us to have symptoms...speaking for myself, I was doing really well and then I had some highly processed junk food and now I'm crashing today because of that---so that's something that is important to think about in recovery! Of course some people are more sensitive about foods than others. Thanks 🥰

    • @cfsrecovery
      @cfsrecovery  2 года назад +3

      Hey Karen, to be honest I don't talk much about food because it didn't really play a role in my full recovery. It's interesting because when I was at my worst I was eating perfectly healthy yet it didn't seem to make a difference and make me better, however when I ate even one tiny piece of chocolate or a small serving of junk food i would absolutely crash and hit a wall
      HOWEVER
      Once I started making leaps in my recovery and I shifted my mindset, lower the anxiety and was finally on the recovery path I was able to eat so much junk food, peanut butter, and snacks and I was getting so much better. So diet definitely plays a role in keeping us from crashing, but for me it didn't matter once I start recovering and I got on the right recovery path. That being said, I eat much healthier now and have even more energy, but I wouldn't say food was the thing that made me recover!

    • @karenmccants1439
      @karenmccants1439 2 года назад +1

      @@cfsrecovery I understand--yes food is just a part of recovery, I wasn't implying that's how you recover. I'm sure once I'm fully well (I'm getting there!), I won't be so food-sensitive...I eat really healthy for the most part but there are some foods that can make me crash hard! Like you and chocolate...I'm feeling frustrated lately at how long it's taking for me to recover--I feel like I'm getting somewhere--feeling great energy and I get excited but then all of a sudden I feel like I fall back to exhaustion so easily. I feel like I've lowered my anxiety quite a bit for a few days and then it comes back with a vengeance! Seems like it happens when I eat the wrong foods and don't get enough sleep. Very frustrating.😣

      Food has been the number one thing that has helped me. I only eat REAL foods now, only salads and not only did I lose 40 pounds in three months I feel fifty percent better
      I still crash few times each week BUT I recover faster.
      Now if I eat any shit food, I immd pay the price within 12 hrs.
      .....
      First step for ninty percent of people to get better is to go to only healthy natural foods.
      It took me six long years of pain to learn this,.
      I was so stubborn, thank God I finally listen to my wife and stuck to healthy food.

    Since 1 Year & 3 months I have been suffering, ... It is a long story before this Fatigue & Drained energy problem...
    First i want to tell my recent symptoms:
    Extreme Fatigue, As if Gravity is pulling me down... Whole body feel like a stone... Heavy, If i am walking i feel like My knees is gonna crash & break & will goes into thighs... I mean whole body Heaviness pressure feeling on knees ... Sometime, I feel like from inside my body muscles are spongy, Or kind of weird feeling .. Sometime Arms, Chest, Buttocks get bloated, Heavy ... Totally Exhausted... Right after opening eyes in the morning a block comes on the back of my head & persists till i fall asleep ... Means whole time a super heaviness on the back of my head, & which later on days goes by it comes frontal pressure & a load on eyes ... Sometime feel like need an extra energy to talk, Words get mumbled, ... When i put my head on pillow, As if i am drowing into the bed, As if Bed is pulling me down... Whole gravity as if against me... & With all of these the common one is Super Anxious, Hopelessness, Always a fearful state of mind behind my thoughts....
    Sometime pains hither & thither... Sometime twitchings, Sometime Vibration, it is a kind of trapped into something ... Digestive system is totally messed ...
    With all of these things fear became more intense when i saw blood in stool on day... I had a history of hemorrhoids...
    How it began:
    I had an Anxiety attack in 2020 july, When i had been suffering from ibs, & saw blood in stool, Before that i had very very stressful, Depressive life since 2015... But when the Health Anxiety Started in 2020, I forgot about all stress i had, & was fearing about incurable disease... I lost weight .. Then in 2021 March went for a check up, All were ok, Only a tiny stress ulcer, & Duodenal erosions, & Very tiny hemorrhoids (Test was Endoscopy & colonoscopy).... All blood tests were normal... Then soon i became happy, I got back my health, But in April 2021 got badly hit by covid.... Then again, New symptomps, Heart palpitations, Then again Anxiety came back, Then wheni got my heart result, all was ok ALHUMDULILLAH, i relaxed, But i haf developed tinnitus, & I wanted to getrid of that, & Once i focused on the sound in head, I became obsessed, & Hopeless, & Started being in a constant fight & flight mode... Then i developed This heaviness in 2022 Feb... Since then this Fatigue & fear & Anxiety, & Hopelessness not leaving me ...
    The more problem started when became financially down.... Cuz, Visiting doctors after that & check ups, Then their Protocols of diet, & Naturopathy medicines, ... All are super expensive...
    Now i am simple Indian diet... As i have no other option, that is Rice, Cooked vegetables, Sometime Beef, chicken ... Not able to eat many fruits ...
    Feeling as if no way out ...
    I am on Homeopathic treatment right now since a year, In between i had stopped, Then again started in nov 2022, But no such results yet.... No Allopathic... Only 0.25 Clonazepam at night ...
    I came to know about Brain retraining, ... But it is like how to do with these intense symptoms....
    But i feel it may help .... I need supports... Thank u very much....

    Hi, the simple fact of knowing me stressing about it more will make it worse makes me more stressed. I got ocd from a TBI so I can’t help but obsess over things, for instance I have loads of intrusive thoughts about an upcoming crash, simply because I know it will make it worse. I feel really scared that I won’t be able to over come this because of my ocd.. do you have any advise.

    Miguel, Did you ever do a cortisol saliva test and have low cortisol? I’m asking because I really rather not need supplements, but I feel like I need to get the stress on my body down to be able to heal. I know 90% of this is in my brain, but some days that 10% screams louder than the mind does. Not having a thyroid and not having the level stable for 3 years has taxed my adrenals and I show low cortisol.

    Hey Miguel, after watching this would it be correct to say you basically trigger the symptoms, whether on purpose or just by getting by day to day, and then you convince the brain that the symptoms are friendly and nothing to worry about. Therefore the next time you do the same thing, your brain might produce slightly less warning symptoms. Repeat repeat and repeat until your brain is less sensitive. Then you can throw a bigger challenge at your brain next time.

I hurt a lot if I stand too long. Swollen feet and ankles...........this sounds familiar to you? I have had this in one form or another for 15 years and gave up going to doctors a long time ago because they were no help. My story sounds familiar??? I am just seeing all of this.

      This is very common, nothing to worry about. It's one of those many symptoms that you throw under the umbrella of ""hypersensitive nervous system issue""
      As long as you don't mentally panic it'll just go away and pop up here and there.
      A big thing with recovery is being able to separate physical anxiety/panic in the body and mental anxiety/panic, the physical and mental stress feed off each other

    Hi Miguel - can you comment on when the body can move/has some energy… but the brain/eyes/cognitive overwhelm symptoms stop you? I mean to the point of being awake 20 hrs a day, and having some function, but unable to do anything because of neurological and vision symptoms, and overwhelm from everything?
    I’m unnecessarily bedbound by cerebral symptoms, but can walk and drive (derealised/dizzy/overwhelmed). It a maddening combo, knowing my body has more function than my brain/eyes are able to process.. have you come across this?

    • @Thadhaam
      @Thadhaam Год назад

      This is quite common actually, some people are better cognitively and other physicaly, it takes time for the two to balance.. My neurological symptoms were also through the roof in the beggining .. Rest as much as possible even though its uncomfortable.. I would put the blinds on the windows, some Mozart on really low volume and imagine all the things I want to do when better.. When this calmed down a bit, I slowly started physically doing more.. Whatever symptoms you have, if they are high I would rest it out a bit..

      @@Thadhaam yes brain & body on 2 different time zones. Such a challenging experience. Thankyou. I’ll keep going and trying to calm the system - though in 12 months I have not managed 1 minute of ‘calm’, it’s like there is a glass ceiling stopping me from coming down from fight/flight 🤷🏼‍♂️. I think the derealisation and blurred vision are impeding it, as peoples voices/sounds/light all seem unreal so it’s like being in a dream where I don’t feel human. Onwards💪🏼
