    In Florida Zone 9a, I find I have to water the pockets individually as they dry out, despite watering from the top. This is especially true when the plants or seeds are just getting started and it is very hot. I have successfully grown Baby Bok Choy which turned out beautifully, bush beans, green bell peppers, chard and dwarf tomatoes in mine. I am planning on putting spinach, lettuce and other greens this fall/winter season. I have the plant racks, but find better results with earth staples in each side of the pockets or bamboo stakes and tying up the plants using twine. It takes up less room that way.

    This would be SO GOOD not only for a small space, but for a place where you can’t let water run off or set up drip, like an apartment or condo balcony! I have seen these before but seeing how the water is set up to be evenly distributed and how it even has a drip tube might have me convinced to put it at the top of my wishlist .

    I normally like your videos but not sure how you can promote this after a few weeks. I’ve had one for a couple of years and they are generally pretty good. The holes do get clogged from time to time. finger check periodically to con firm water getting through. Fairly easy to take it apart to make sure. Rare but it does happen. All plants should have similar water needs. You also want your taller plants towards the bottom as they will shade the smaller plants. Definitely needs to be rotated in most locations. Good luck.

      Agreed, perfect for growing herbs. The best part is that it can be kept it a shaded area and still brought out to a sunny spot, when needed, on the mover!

      Ashley, we are placing an order for two on Monday.
      Do you have suggestions for _types_ of veggies & fruits that are more (or less) successful producers for tower gardening - such bush beans vs pole beans, types of tomatoes, etc

    I recently purchased this planter after learning about it from Epic gardening. I really appreciate your demonstrations of set up and also the tips on preparing potting soil. I do have a question. Why did you use different materials/ mixes for the different tiers? I do recognise you made the bottom level heavier for stability.

  • @katerlee516

    Sorry if this is a basic question but beginner gardener here. Interested in getting this for my pepper and tomato seedlings. Would you only grow determinate tomato plants in these? What kinds of peppers would work in the tower? I have poblano, shishito, lemon pepper and crispy hybrid sweet pepper seedlings right now. Thank you!

    • @CaliforniaGardening
      @CaliforniaGardening  Год назад

      Ive grown both determinate and indeterminate tomatoes and they have done well. Just plant tomatoes in the top tier so they can vine downwards and produce fruits!

    Each box how many gallon soil will fit.And if we use most of vegetable plants in all tiers like chillies, Brinjal,Tamato,Bell peppers and Cucumber and another wine variety did those will grow in this vertical planter . As i have very less space but wanted to utilize this . Thanks for your inputs here

    I’ve been wanting to get one of these. Can you plant plants that will grow tall or do you need to keep them where they will stay relatively short, like 12 inches or so?

    • @CaliforniaGardening
      @CaliforniaGardening  3 года назад +3

      Yes I've grown tomatoes, peppers, eggplants in the classic planter. In the leaf planter you can grow beets, onions, spinach, etc which have shallower roots
