That’s college. Its literally very different from Middle school and Highshool. I used to be in the Honor Roll in my whole highschool life, straight A’s all the way. But when I gone to college, everyone is just tryna’ survive out there. It doesn’t matter how smart you are in Highschool, the college life is a different story. And it also affects your grades if you have a shitty professor that doesn’t explain and just read his lesson then dismisses you or those kind of prof that lets you study 5 books but has only 1 book coverage for the exam
@Daniyal Mujtaba People have high expectations. I have them too, it is not annoying, we work hard, we don't show it. I got a 99 on my english final and I cried for weeks.
@Daniyal Mujtaba she didnt know her score when she said that, i would do the same, cause I’d rather say that i won’t have a good score too, than setting the expectations high and getting lower score. In my opinion. I mean I agree with you about the part that it is a little annoying.
i mean impostor syndrome is a big thing. like i just got into mit and literally everyone in the admitted groupchat has impostor syndrome. obviously we're not going to feel like we're smart 24/7 and all smart people have dumb moments ya know? we're not just "tryna be ReLaTabLe" it's just. impostor syndrome. i honestly feel like it'd be insufferable if people were like "oh im so smart look at me" all the time ya feel

For those of you wondering, 1st years at MIT are graded on a pass/fail system. All you need is a C or better to pass, hence why they might look relaxed. I'm sure starting next year they'll start worrying a little more about grades haha
LSJ so for both their fall and spring semesters they’re graded pass and fail? At my college(JHU) freshman used to have covered grades for the first semester but they took that policy away
@@GlamGoddes101 Sorry I should have been more specific! So at MIT fall semester of 1st year is completely covered, but starting your second semester you can designate 3 science GIRs (general institute reqs) to be P/NR, and you can do this each semester until you graduate. All other classes are on a grading scale.
It's fun to watch you go through Uni. My daughter is getting her acceptance notifications right now which is how I came across your channel as I researched. Most kids have their own set of talents, but it takes a lot of hard work to get to the top. I read so many comments asking how do you get As or high SAT scores. The following is a reply for them as It made me think of when i was young and going through similar struggles. It takes a lot of dedicated sit down and study/work time. If you procrastinate, fix that problem first! Just fix it or forget it! Many kids study a little the night before and think, 'that's good enough'. They get C or less. Some study until they understand the subject and can do the work and get the right answers on the exams, well they'll get Bs sometimes As. The way to guarantee As is to not just study and understand, but also practice practice practice (redo homework/quizzes and old exams) until you're a high performing student able to finish an exam before anybody else, walk out and still get As on it. Be able to recall from memory paragraphs and definitions verbatim and write it down without pause. So to answer the question of what does it take to be top 1% student, your idea of 'that's good enough' has to change. You have to prepare like a star athlete and that requires a lot of time, practice and dedication to train yourself to perform. Once I understood this, I Ace'ed any and all my classes including in graduate school. I have 3 post-graduate degrees, one of them is in physics. If you weren't lucky to be raised in a supportive family with parents who trained you to perform like a star athlete from the start and who could afford to send you to after school tutoring, prep-classes, trips and special programs, you can still do it but you have to work harder and retrain yourself to do things better, but first raise your standards of 'that's good enough'. What most kids think is good enough study is nowhere near good enough if you want to be top 1%.

Hey I am a sophomore in highschool interested to apply to MIT as an international student from Asia, I am confused about the whole extracurricular thing. Is their a way anyone can help me?
I wonder if undergrad engineering degrees at MIT are more difficult to obtain than a Master's degree in engineering at a university like the University of Texas. So far, grad school is hella difficult from my experience. It's an insane time commitment and there are lots of sacrifices you gotta make if you wanna stay out of academic probation by maintaining a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. On top of that, having to prepare a thesis defense too.. grad school blowwwwws.
KRISHNA GURALE use the panda sat math book, essay, writing and vocab or the pnw math book along with the black book and Kahn academy practice also take practice test at-least once a week and you should be fine if your consistent.
All these MIT students went from going for A's in high school to just hoping to pass the class at MIT lmaoooo the struggle is real
The grind never stops when you get into the toughest schools. if anything, we'd have to grind harder, and find new methods.
oof.
