I loved the 11:30 ish mark when mama jumps and they all look up stunned! SO PRECIOUS! Did you clean out the box of the eggs that didn't hatch? High drama with the raccoon!
Yes they are so cute. We did empty out that nest. The three left behind eggs were just yellow yolk inside. They either froze back in April or were never fertilized. ??!! We aren’t exactly sure.
I only watch for the ducks bad knees and age keep me from hiking but 30 yrs ago my wife and i would have out there doing the same. Is the end of the video the start of round 2. I also had a pair visit the box today she went inside and he roosted in the tree so maybe i'll have a second round.

What exactly is she doing at the 5:40 mark right after the first one hatches? She seems to be pecking at it or forcing it back under her
She’s cleaning the egg off (they eat the egg) and trying to push it under her to warm it and dry it off.
Need to get a shield right away
We did. Worked quite well this year.
Too bad a coyote didnt get that coon.
We have yotes around but not many
