And this is exactly why I tried to prioritise as many as I could before you saw NW live - I can't blame you of course for having that experience, but it's obviously had an impact for your future reactions. Seeing this last November is the first time I ever shed a tear at a live show - a beautiful part of an amazing overall performance.
Remember that cliché about when life hands you lemons, make lemonade? This was an opportunity for you to discover elements missed the first time around. Nightwish music is so layered that it often takes many listens to really grasp its fullness. Even ordinary pop songs may hold a hidden gem or two that will be missed on first listen. Next time take a situation like this as an opportunity to discover more, rather than a waste of your time. It's all a matter of attitude, that glass half full/empty thing. The score may matter to you as a signature of your channel, but be aware that for some of us, the score isn't all that interesting. Rather it's how you view the music as a professional musician. That's what I tune in for. As an example, spend time analyzing Troy's guitar technique. Nothing like an acoustic guitar set to expose a weak player. You could've kept me entertained and informed just by delving into the guitar work. Something to keep in mind, the next time this happens.
Yep, they do have official lyric video which has full song as it was written. Not this version. But nothing wrong being fan. So all good for my perspective.
I'm actually glad you didn't score it. Everyone who follows your reactions knows this isn't your cup of tea. You've made it clear you don't like ballads. The thing that matters is you respected the request and did it anyway. At least that gets my attention and my respect.
Love the tone of this Fylde guitar. And of course Floor is perfect. There is an album version which sounds quite different with the whole band and Troy playing pipes in the lyric video.
I respect your decision to not review this, for obvious reasons. What I do not understand is the reason why you can't review something you have heard before. I think music needs time to settle in, and a first impression is not always what remains after several listens. You could have scored this with that disclaimer, not first time reaction. But ok, it's your channel and your choices. I still think you could have at least talked more about the music and your thoughts, even if it's not a reaction. That is what we are here for. Cheers.
Good on you Dave for being honest! And I really like that you still uploaded this, it shows that you are committed even when things don’t really work out. I’ve also seen this live but at Ziggo Dome in Amaterdam. That venue was packed, 17000 attendees and me and my wife sat high up. But they still managed to make me feel like it was an organic and intimate performance. Amazing! And I thought that I should tell you that there are electric versions of this. The one from hellfest 2022 is a good one that you could watch at your leisure. Have a good say!
This is my 4yr olds favorite Nightiwsh song. I have to play this every single time I pick him up from Pre-K. He sings the entire thing, though it took him a while to learn how to sing the lines with "mire" and "aons" correctly. If it makes you feel better, my 4yr will enjoy your "not reaction or review" LoL~

Don't worry about not scoring it, when you said Planet Rock I knew it was the acoustic version. I have seen this song in the acoustic version more than once live and I agree that this version is lacking the crowd energy. It's live, but basically still a studio version. Too bad you couldn't do the official lyrics video that is with the whole band. 🤘🏽🖤

When these things happen its going to be fine not to give a score or even deeply analyze it. Actually how you and your wife reacted to hearing it the first time was enough. These will be a different experience and we could see you struggling to try and follow form. Unless something new pops out just don't try. We all have listened to songs multiple times and ones like this will actually have quite different impacts at different times. I had just listened to Aqualung before this all I could think was this song says don't they may not be "eyeing girls with bad intent".
