Hey Melissa, I'm an advocate for single fathers but for the best for children first. If this is your situation you're talking about, I'd want to get an official custody order ASAP. @SingleDadSurvival I am definitely going to send my son the link to your page. He was talked into a separation and promised he and his wife could work on their marriage at the end of the year. They both were depressed after separating from the military. She said they needed time apart. When he tried to come home after leaving everything behind he found she had thrown away all his things and showed signs of dating someone else. When she realized he had rights to his home she took out an emergency RO for domestic violence. He's never touched her. She even said he punched his daughter at age 2!! She had been at his place on a regular for dinner and movies. Their daughter is my sons whole world. The judge didnt believe her and allowed my son time with his daughter. But she uses my sons passiveness to break temp time sharing and is ducking being served divorce papers. I hate I raised him to be kind hearted...she is running all over him.
What I don't understand is having equal share custody, never married and because I make more money than him (working two jobs) the courts forced me to pay out child support. I am a single parent as my co parent has had his partner ever since our separation. I've never filed against him or wanted to place him on support (reason why I work two jobs). How is this even fair?
What about child modification for a 18 Autistic adult who just graduated and is neededing to continue to attend 2 schooling full time for life skills preparation and training?

How do I get them to re-evaluate his income. He is a narc and will never willingly tell the truth or do the right thing buy our children hence the child support order. He is non involved and has not seen them since July of 2023. He has never had them over night for anything and probably never will unfortunately (it’s nit his thing). How can I get them to look deeper into this. He is a 1099 and business owner so he can say what he wants and he has rich lawyers friends that co-sign. I feel a little helpless and unknowledgeable about what to do. 😢 Any info will help.

It isn't, but it's the law and the law is not always fair.
