Thanks. I just got a RTS to add something new and different to my tank with big Goldies and Telescopes. It is fine and docile now, but probably because is new to the tank and is tiny compared to the other fish. Sounds like a mistake though, will have to bring it back to exchange for somethings else before becomes a problem.
Love the way they look. I mistakenly bought a baby one to add to my peaceful 55 gallon community tank. Very bad mistake!!! As it grew, it became more and more aggressive towards my clown loaches and green tiger barbs, literally anything that had red tail fins. I ended up rehoming it to my local live fish store.
Ya I got 2 red tail sharks without knowing. I just gave my friend one because he has a 55 gallon as well and the one shark was being a relentless bully to the other. But my shark gets along with the tiger barbs I have and pleco. I have 5 barbs, the most the shark will do is chase one away from the entrance of his cave but besides that he’s good.
Great video, question, I just got two babies. I want to grow them at least 6 to 8 months. Then I wanna got beach to two Oscar's. Babies of course. Down the road do you think the tiger sharks will be able to hold their own. Thank you. Joseph
My Red-Tail shares his cave with a cory and some shrimp. He doesnt seem to care much for the Columbian Tetras, which he will chase arround on occasion. He doesn't bother with the Lamp Eyes or the Black Neons.
I have one sadly I lost 2 silver sharks same day when I got all 3 together. Had him bout week and half. And has a catfish with him. Would like to get him another tank buddy. In a 30 gallon as of right now but as you said 40 gallon is good so I’ll get him another buddy or so
I had a rainbow shark and he was a menace constantly chasing other fish especially at feeding. By the time he calmed down the food was gone so he was also a bit of an idiot. They are sold as community fish which they certainly are not.
traded mine today, beautiful fishy, turn into jaws wen they grow ,chased everything till they die of exhaustion,or headbud or tailslap the chit outta bigger fishes, mine was very agressive
I feel they are either the zoomiest things alive or the most docile lmao. Mine sits in a single spot under a big branch all day and will not go beyond a couple centimeters away from his spot, like ever. I have a tank of 23 gallons that is probably not big enough for a red tailed shark (i got him small when i was more inexperienced), but because he just sits in his own spot all the time i feel it’s been working just fine. I suppose the size tank you need for it depends on it you have good hiding spots that he loves.

This is an extremely informative video!
Glad to hear, thanks for watching!

how long can i keep one in a heavily planted 20 long? 30x12x13. All alone, no other fish in the tank? thanks

Mine isn’t as aggressive but he does follow my bichir around the tank even though he’s half his size. Pretty annoying but none of his fins are torn.
Glad to hear, I'd guess as the bichir continues to grow they'll be less chance of him getting injured too
Very cool fish 🐠

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like a good plan!
My red tail was relentless in chasing down my Rosy barbs and other free swimming fish.
Sorry to hear that. I experienced the same with them and my Mollies

Bummer that happened. But yeah it's not uncommon unfortunately as they get older
What’s the minimum gallons if I want to keep him alone?
55 is still ideal to give them space to swim because they are very active. A 29 will be alright though in my opinion

i keep mine with my big oscar fish no problems
Mine keeps chasing my electric blue acara baby. It’s so annoying
Sorry to hear that. Some fish they just won't tolerate
12 minutes of mumbling, could have been a 3 minute informative video, but alas it was a bore
