Thanks for the video. So, what happens to the water going to the top hot/red line if there's no valve to diverted from getting into the tank? Does it get into the tank, or does the fitting on the hot/red line attached to the tank has some kind of special check/one-way valve built into it that only allows water to come out of the tank, but not in? I'm a little confused on the latter. Thank you.
@@pmtips4482 What the...? Didn't understand a damn thing. There's a check valve on your hot water side. Also, what does "coolant" have to do with anything?
so what is there in place to stop anti freeze from going into the heater at the hot outlet? ok i think i found out, there is a check valve in hotwater outlet, am i correct?
Hi Seth, thanks for watching! I hope I can help you. If your bypass valve is set to bypass the water heater, and it is working properly, then your hot water discharge check valve is not doing its job. If you can email me a photo or two of your setup I might be able to tell you more. pmtips1@gmail.com Thanks!
@@pmtips4482 Great, thanks so much. I removed Bothe the cold supply line insert and the hot discharge lines. I capped the hot water line and left the valve closed on the cold supply. My shutoff valve is working, so I bet you are right. Installing a check valve is a bit tedious, no? Thanks for your help!!
Hi Seth, installing a new check is very easy if you have good access to it. On my older fiver I would have had to remove the water heater to switch one out but my new 5th wheel would be easy to switch. Also if you can get your old check valve out, take it with you to get your replacement. It's so much easier to get the correct match on the part. Good luck Sir!
NO,NO,NO, Its not a gate valve in anyway shape or form! It's a BALL valve it has a ball in it. Gate valves have gates in them. If your going to teach, know what your talking about. Don't teach incorrectly.
You are absolutely correct, I have the proper text in the video stating it is in fact a ball valve. I don't want to pull the video down yet but I may have to. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@pmtips4482 Unlike hilltoptim, I really don't care what it's called, I watched the video & perfectly understood what you were talking about, Thanks for the very helpful video.
True, the quarter turn valve he showed is a BALL valve. NOT a "gate" valve, which has a flat slide which is pulled up out of the flowpath with a multiple turn handle. I recommend replacing every gate valve you can find, with quarter turn BALL valves. I even did this on all of my toilet and faucet supply valves. Ball valves can be cycled all you want, and virtually never leak. Gate valves often need repacking, and sometimes even break, in the stuck closed position.
Badly needed this info!! Thanks so much!
You're so welcome!
Thank you. This was the exact information I was looking for. Putting in the antifreeze tomorrow
Best of luck to you Kimberly!

The check valve is between the white 90 degree elbow and the tank at the hot outlet.

Yes, a check valve is there.

what stops the antifreeze from going in the top line of the water heater?
Pete, there is a check valve right at the tank outlet.

Why dealer ship no to put 3way valves? Yes! They can make more MONEY. Since I put 3 way valves? Yes,no more pink in to the HT.
Ive got my bypass valve turned off but am getting antifreeze into the water heater from the red line. What should I do?
