  • This is a very large art haul that I have collected over the course of a few months. Will these supplies carry me into 2025 and be my last art supply haul of 2024? I am not sure, but I can’t wait to dive in and start using them and find out.
In my art haul for 2024 I am trying more professional watercolor brands along with some other watercolor supplies. There have been a few professional brands on my wish list to try and this year I am taking a different approach to how I try new brands. Im the same way. I personally have found that too many choices in a palette overwhelming. I just end up frustratedband time consuming. I love working with a few at a time. Mixing is half the fun!

Mixing is definitely fun. Yes, I like to have the choices but I always limit what I use in a single painting.

Going to have to add to my Qor collection. Lunar Earth is not overly impressive but oh the mixes you can make. Lily Moon has a great video where she mixes with only 4 other colors. Got it after I saw it.

I'm dying to try m graham watercolors! They are a bit hard to get where I live unfortunately 😅 but wow what a haul! Can't wait to see you swatch the colors 🥰

They're the best! In my opinion, of course 😅
I hope you are able to try some at some point! 🥹

    M. Graham is my all time favourite! 😍 Unfortunately, the Cobalt Violet has always been a problem child of theirs.. 😅 When they first released it there were issues with the tubes drying up completely. They eventually re-formulated it (with more binder:pigment I assume) so now all of the tubes are very liquidy and like to seperate from the binder.
I suspect the pigment they use is just one of those really tempermental pigments that is hard to make into watercolour paints.
For them, it was probably better to have a higher binder ratio making the paint very liquidy, rather than have the paints drying up and being "unusable" for some.
It's a little sad because the pigment is soo so so gorgeous! But I still keep it in my palette and use it, it's just a lot stickier & doesn't 100% dry down the same as their other colours.

      @ClarkFineArt  2 месяца назад +1

Seems it is definitely pigment issue as I have had similar problems with it from QoR too. I agree the pigment is beautiful!

I found M-Graham’s and Micheal Harding watercolor paint to be very highly pigmented and rich. A little goes a long way. I use a watercolor palette box 24 wells made in China. They’re really well made with snap on cover. Even if you’re paint get juicy in the summer, you can still use them on the go and not worry about them leeching into each other or in your bag. Hope this is helpful.

I believe the type of palette you are describing is what I put my Daniel Smith Gouache in. Would be a good idea for these if I expand the palettes and want to take them out for Plein air. Great suggestion!

Wonderful art haul I bought bee watercolor paper awhile back I was not happy with it. Warping bad I love MEEDEN better. I like idea with pens. I have gold and other inks.

I definitely tape the Bee inspired paper down when using it. But find it great for testing out ideas or swatching out colors to put in my palettes I can’t wait to try the pens!

I’m really looking forward to using those! I just got the missing color a perylene maroon in yesterday and added it to the palette. I will have to look at the palette and see if I can find something to paint with them soon, maybe Thursday during the live stream. Stay tuned…

@@Violet-ok3nl I get them on Amazon, amzn.to/4bvzZRL you can use the magnets if needed but when I fill them for palettes with the metal rails that hold them I don’t use those. They are interchangeable in all palettes that hold half pans.

I use mostly M Graham, but since they don't have many colors, I've fleshed out my studio palette with Michael Harding. I have their potter's pink, titanium buff and cinquasia maroon a/k/a quin b scarlet and a couple of their convenience greens.
I'd love to see how their burnt siennas look against one another. I tend to use M Graham's Trans red ox instead of their b sienna since it's got a tad more red. Quin gold is usually my go-to for a limited palette, since it's warm in masstone, but watered down it's cooler.
I only use Daniel Smith's specialty colors, since they dry so rock hard. I haven't gotten the pens in yet, but the reservoir on yours are so much larger than my kingart one! Very excited to try them out! Thanks for sharing!

I haven’t tried the pens but they are near the top of my list to try. I started with Daniel Smith for professional colors and have been used to how they rewet. I have the MH and M Graham drying but if they rewet as easy as the Mission Gold I can see why you would enjoy the two brands to make up your studio palette.

I have that palette, actually I have two large ones by them a round layout and a rectangular. I am on the journey to see which pigments will fill them.
