    Sorry, but I have some follow-up questions: this method assumes that side of your material are square, right? Do you have any tricks to ensure that the material is placed parallel to the X and Y axis when you flip it over? Are you using the same method to set the height when you are changing tools?

      The method works if you're using three points. Here is what I do. I sometimes mark the material where I used the edge finder so I can use the same location when I flip it over. The material I was using was fairly square. If it's not, I'll often mill the front and a little bit of one side. This will give me the three points that I need to both align the block and set the X/Y zero point.
      As to tool height, yes, I set the new tool height each time I change tools.
