  • Let’s get real with admitting we have social issues! Here’s just a thought from an event that happened in my day. I may look typical but I often worry about situations I am in and my actions! Misunderstanding people can be an every day struggle.

I'm so thankful for finding your page. I'm 28 weeks pregnant with my first child, a son and it is suspected he has partial ACC. There's just not alot of info out there about it and all I've been able to find is alot of worst case scenarios and I've been so scared. Seeing your page has helped my anxiety so much and feel so excited to meet my little man and see what an amazing person he is going to be.

I have a 5 year old daughter with complete ACC. She's very smart & could write her first & middle name by 4. But, she cracks me up with her literal thinking. She'll say things like," Did you know I was born?!" Or "did you know, I have a FACE!?" She loves people & talking with people, but she always says the funniest things😂. I have 6 kids & you would never know she had acc, besides her literal things she says. She use to struggle with anger, but I helped her with coping. I find that a physical motion helps (like, brushing the anger off her arms & legs or coloring her anger out then ripping up the paper & throwing her "anger" away)
    Sorry if I rambled😊

I can relate a lot to this. I am an DCC adult still living at home (I was diagnosed with ACC at 17 and the signs of social struggles were already there when I was 10, and so I was labeled as Aspergers for awhile before that) and my mom is neuro-typical. She sometimes says things that I take offense to and if I don't pause to think I will instantly react because I misunderstoodwhat was intended. It can be really frustrating because I want to communicate better but it ends up being an emotional mess instead and it is hard because I love my mom and hate upsetting her. Tbh I have a lot of insecurities because of how people respond to me, even if they don't know I have ACC, and I am trying to break through that and accept myself but it is a roller coaster. Even talking about it online right now is giving me anxiety but I wanted to attempt to be candid for once.

Sounds like you are doing great! You are on the right track already with that you are recognizing when these things are happening to you AND that you are capable of “fixing” them. 💕. It will take a lot of work on your part but eventually things will become much easier and anxiety won’t happen as often! I used to have anxiety for a lot of things but taught myself how to overcome a lot of it. The anxiety that I still live with, I have learned to be open about it by telling my family when I feel it happening or telling them something they are doing is giving me anxiety. I sometimes will even tell my kids that my reacts towards them isn’t true my how I want to be reacting by my anxiety is high. It helps everyone stay more calm and understanding to have open communication.

I just wanted to say I think you are an amazing and inspirational woman. I hope you realise it! I can only imagine how many people you are helping. I have a son with acc he's 23 and has taken a year out of university for a break - he's studying engineering. He said he would go back in Sept but I think he's unsure. He says he knows he needs the degree and probably a masters to do well in the area he wants to work in.
He took a 2 year break from study after school before starting college. The college were great, they held his place the 2nd year because we had all the medical records of his acc and he had achieved enough points in his leaving cert for the degree. I don't know if they will let him take a 4th year. It's so hard to know whether to ty to persuafe him to just do it as I know he'll feel good about finishing the degree. He is incredibly deep and he does analyse himself a lot. There are often arguments which I feel terrible about afterwards he says he doesn't think about arguments after they end. To be honest most of the time I forget he has acc, I need to remember this is the moment more. Any tips on advising him 're returning to college? Thankyou again. You are a really wonderful person. I hope you know it!

Can I just say I love your videos and they give me reason to be hopeful with our daughter who also has ACC. You're an inspiration.
Now, as far as kids mocking their parents, boy oh boy. I have a 9yr old who thinks he's 16 and loves to crack jokes in just about anything and everyone. I don't think this is something that goes away for many kids, Lol. I'm glad you can look back and reflect. I just say pick your battles so you can win the war. Lol. Thanks again
