    I only need vegetable, grains, fruits and nuts. I am vegan. I was moved by avocados, bananas, soursop, mangos, and greens. I live in the States, spend very little on food. I am moving to Mexico, can't wait to eat some indigenous food.

      You will love the food here. The vegetables don’t get grown with the number of chemicals and pesticides that you see in the USA.
      I was shocked when I visited farms with my cousin. Even the big ones agroquímico much more naturally.
      The special seeds (and lawsuits) prices and pesticides are too expensive.
      Come visit! So many vegan restraunts too!

    I love visiting La Comida stores, because they are so clean and huge in selection and have convenient parking, too. I love the food chain in Mex. since there's lots of fresh produce, but sometimes I actually pick fruit off the trees, too.

    • @LarissaSokla
      @LarissaSokla  2 года назад

      That’s right Dennis , I do too :) Right now is a mango season, and I pick it up right from the tree.

    • @dennishassler605

      I had a friend from Spain visit us in P.V. and I'm with my wife, too, where we'd once paid $5 for a case of Mangos along the Hwy. and now they all wanted $8. I was annoyed and told everyone "we are paying only for the picking, because Mangos are everywhere", so we stopped in the mountains just before entering P.V. and in minutes we picked all the mangos we could use - we had fun picking them, too. Walking the dogs on a golf course, we also picked a few Papayas, too. Often, I'd see locals eating a mango from the tree in the park as well - a tree can fee a community!!!

    That looks like a posh/high end store. Those prices are ridiculous! I am in the UK and pretty much everything except the fruit is cheaper here after converting to GBP, and that's even after the pound crashed against the dollar last week. The $9 (usd) block of cheese you showed would be approx £5 here ($5.58 / 112 mxn).

    I've been to that store in 2020 just before the pandemic. I was surprised at how the prices were still lower than in my home city in California. I too loved shopping at the local stores and the prices were much less. I really was surprised at the meat section. Since 1 kilo equals 2 pounds the steaks were a great price.
    Can't wait to come back to PV.

    It's crazy how much more expensive some things are in Mexico like the oat milks. Probably that import tax since those milks are from US companies

  • @markforrester1888
    @markforrester1888 2 года назад

    Those prices seem to be very much higher than here in Iowa USA. Jumbo eggs here are 2.38 a dozen. Ground beef was 2.99 per lb last week. One large cucumber was .68 cents.

    • @wagmiorngmi
      @wagmiorngmi 2 года назад

      I just commented similar with comparison to the prices here in the UK. Nearly all that stuff she showed is around TWICE as much as it would cost here, and that's even after 10% CPI inflation and the currency crashing against the dollar. Got to be a special high-end store that only "posh" people with a ton of money shop at.

  • @1dktre
    @1dktre 2 года назад

    I am from Niagara, ON. I have been in PV for about a month. Groceries, toiletries, household products and clothes are significantly more expensive here. Also prescriptions, some 2-3 times the cost than at Costco, Niagara.

    Those prices look very similar to the US. The average Mexican earns about $2 an hour (from what I've heard), so, I guess, these stores are aimed at foreigners and other people at the higher end of the money spectrum. The store looks fantastic, though.

  • @NarsilRenewed

    Ok look.... I've been in Puerto Vallarta for 2-1/2 years now.
    Inflation is about 2-3 times as much as it was when I got here, although there are ways to keep your budget down and still find rentals for less than $500 USD. I'm irritated with this lady because she chooses high rent and much more expensive shopping options then necessary and does not disclose this in her videos.
    If your on a budget I would not advise depending on information from someone who clearly is not on a low budget herself! And while you may be able to afford a much lower rent in PV at this time, keep in mind just like the rest of the world rentals are steadily going up and food is getting high priced even at the cheaper stores as well.
    Example: Up until recently I was paying about .75cents for a large bottle of soda. That same bottle of soda is now $1.50 USD today. This item has doubled while other prices have tripled!
    I will be leaving PV for this reason and also global warming issue's. I've been here three rainy seasons "the hottest time of the year," with each being hotter than the next.
    Being on a strict budget leaves me dripping wet with sweat all day & all night long using just fan's alone.
    I'm forced to lay in bed at night staring at an AC that I can't afford to turn on!
    Now if your coming to PV to vacation then that's a different story. You already know what your hotel is costing you in advance and have planned to spend. That's a vacation not a life style..
    PV is a great place, don't get me wrong. I love it here but it can be very expensive if you're on a budget as a retired person!
