It just goes to show GameFreak is one of the laziest companies, and only now are are majority starting to realize it. I first noticed when they neglected to add the Battle Frontier to ORAS, with their excuse being that kids these days don't have a long attention span iirc. That being said, Pokemon will continue to sell and SWSH will most likely be one of the highest selling Switch games.
@@GroovyPancake AND the fact there was no pokemon Z. Kalos had so much more to offer, specially with the ghost girl and the fact the xy and Z anime exists, which is the best pokemon anime in my opinion. I think if diamond and Pearl remakes don't happen after sword and shield (which according to the pattern I think there going for is the next one) that will be the deciding factor to me.
@Orange Icecream pancakes if we don’t get DPP remakes after sword and shield there will be much rage. I do disagree about the XYZ anime being the best (maybe because I’m older now and I only enjoy the older anime because it’s nostalgic. Tbh I quit enjoying the anime when black and white came out) but everyone is entitled to their own opinion so eh
Also yes Pokemon Z should’ve been a thing. There were so many loose ends and unanswered questions in XY. You have the other power plants in the badlands, the mysterious ghost girl in the hotel and that one random building that didn’t really serve any purpose, plus there was the completely unused train station in couriway town and so so much more. It just felt like there was so much potential that they just ignored (I know it gets a lot of hate but I personally really enjoyed gen 6, I though the art was more aesthetically pleasing than any of the new stuff and I wish they would go back to it. It had almost a watercolor look to it)
Gamefreak could litteraly sell a game called Pokemon Fuck and Pokemon You and its literally pokemon red and blue but with only one pokemon and it would make over 100M sales

"If you can't read this, read it to know to ask for help!" I believe GameFreak is losing their logical processing power with every generation release after gen 5.
I'm glad the animations were brought up, Pokemon has been the same for so long that I'd buy a new game announced with custom/unique animations in an actual instant.
Slimecicle - Maybe that was their plan. Now that a lot of people are desperate, they'll announce such a game and make billions! They're evil. EVIL I TELL YOU.
This video is an even better watch now with what we know of Gen 8. Same 3ds models and animation. Pokemon following removed. Friendly rival who picks the starter weak to yours. Ditching Z-Moves and Megas, since those require creativity, and replacing them with "Pokemon get big." I think you hit the nail on the head with Game Freak knowing they can sell literally anything and make money.
Removing z-moves actually makes sense because it’s kind of a thing unique to Alolan culture, but mega evolution is like a world-wide thing if ORAS and the XY story has to say anything. The graphics for gen 8 really aren’t as good as they could be, and I’m pretty sure we’d all be okay waiting another year or two if it means the game will actually look and be as close to as good as fans were hoping for, ya know? **cough** national dex **cough**
Gawd damn the animatiom bit with your rival, perfectly describes my problem with this game. The thing that'll definitely keep me from buying this game is the HUGE tone down in difficulty. I wouldn't have mind it if Nintendo made it clear they were aiming for a younger audience gameplay-wise. But they're clearly trying to appeal to the 90s generation by making commercials that mimic the OG pokemon intro, including characters like Red and just making the game in the Kanto region. I'm not gonna lie, I wanted to get it because of that sweet commercial and because you could also fight Red in the game (who usually whipes you out like it' nothing and have to actually think of an strategy to even think of fighting him) but when I went to see a gameplay of that battle I was so disappointed to see how easy and unfair it was. If your Eevee had 5 hp left and Red attacked you with a magnitude 10, your eevee will survive "cuz i LovE u tRaiNeR sEnPaI". It basically gives all your pokemon a free focus band and extra critical chances just because you feed it once in a while. And I know pokemon isn't exactly a "difficult" game to play. All you do is farm up your pokemon for 400 hours to lvl 100 and one-shot everything. But if you legitimately wanted to have a better and more thrilling experience in the game you could *choose to do it* by maybe farming up a bit to lvl 60 something and have genuine strategy-based battles that are way more fun than this garbage. Tl;dr If nintendo wants to make a pokemon game for kids, it's ok, hell I may even buy it just to have a good time and enjoy the game for what it is. But don't bait me making me think it's gonna be anything like Pokemon Red. Where I felt I could at least die if I messed up my moveset or underestimated my enemy.
Camila Cuevas to be fair tho, if my rival offered his sister for a date, you *KNOW* imma take that shite up in a heartbeat! *(cries of loneliness in despacito)
mewlilou the artstyle is pretty much decided and it's clear they didn't have time to polish anything because their production is too hectic. We already know how it'll look like, so unless they are frantically working on it right now, he's right.
Gameplay is out now and SURPRISE! IT LOOKS LIKE THE TRAILERS! The textures are bad, the trees are still there, and there's a mouse cursor on Rillaboom's back!
The Plasmic Alchemist they could put so much more effort into the games then they have, I like let’s go but I realisr it’s flaws and it’s a dead giveaway that it’s a cash grab when you have to pay to trade and battle
Tristan Rempert oh yeah new cost like 50$ like wot the controller has like 3 buttons like it adds another controller to beat dark souls with, but that’s it
I like the lighting and the kind of ‘bloom’ look. But the more you talk about the graphics the more I noticed that the NPCs look like they were made from the Mii channel.
Gamefreak taking one step forward and two steps back: Let's make a new Pokemon game for the Switch, a system that doesn't have as many restrictions as the portable consoles. Also Gamefreak: Remove Mega evolutions and Z moves, oh and some of the pokemon too. I'm sure no one will care because T H I C C PoKeMaNs

They said that to make us buy the game. Everything they say is PR-bs designed to make us spend. Nothing they say should be believed. They said Let's Go was meant for new players and then another time said it's game anyone could enjoy, contradiction. They say whatever they feel will make them the most money. I believe and trust GF less than any other companies, and that's saying A LOT.
@TheKoolKidz you just said gamefreak could sell you anything as long as it includes Pokémon. But you do you. I swear humanity is devolving mentally but that's just something I've always believed not specifically targeted at anyone I include myself in that belief
wow, Scott being a mature respectable human being, admitting his past mistakes and shedding light over his transition period from his Overwatch days, feels good man.
"Game Freak can just make anything and people will still just buy it and praise it." Word for word exactly how I feel about this title. Seems like a good distraction but I cannot buy it (especially with that pricetag) and tell Game Freak that this is the Pokémon game we want.
im just worried because already knowing that might make gamefreak one day just go "Who cares about our older audiance if we can just always make a big hit with anything"
@@dogg-paws I'm not upset, I just decided that Pokemon might not be going in a direction I will enjoy playing and decided to find an alternative to get my fix. "If you're not sure what to do, ask an adult to help you choose a language" is what the game says...in a language. If a child is that young that they can't figure out how to choose the language they need, how is that going to help them?
I find putting Mew in a paid accessory absolutely unacceptable. It would have been way more fun to have some post game side quest after you catch all 150 pokemon here you have to chase Mew through the region until it finally goes under a truck where you thsn battle it.
what? i don't understand what you are trying to say. i agree with his argument. it wouldve made so much more sense to do that. ssb has nothing to do with this
I actually like how Blue is less of an ass because it shows that he's obviously grown up since he was Red's rival all those years ago. It was even hinted at in Sun and Moon where he and Red were really good friends at that point.
Dones't mean he's any less of an Ass to Red, just that he is an adult. One who gets overshadowed by Red despite also being a champion and taking over the Virirdian city Gym. I bet the only reason Red even went to Alola is because Blue made the trek up Mt. Silver and told him to come with.
I'm fine with a friendly rival, just as long as there's... You know? What they did in Sun and Moon is perfect. Hau is a great personality and awesome to battle with and against. But if he had been alone, it would have felt like something is missing. And that "something" is the "oooohhh, it's gonna be tough but I'ma kick this guy's ass" I got out of Guzma and, to an even greater degree, EDGELORD Gladion. I'll buy the next Pokémon game if it provides, at the very least, a basic challenge. Bonus points for a well written story.
From what I gather, Let's Go happens not too long after Pokemon Red/Blue, as it's before Gold/Silver as Blue is only just deciding to be gym leader, Red and Blue (the trainers) don't look much different, but Blue has evidently taken the ego hit of losing to Red and become less of an asshat
I agree with this alot. I feel like this game isn't particularly lazy, rather it focuses too much on nostalgia for its enjoyment. which was okay for me because I really liked seeing pokemon roam the overworld, and feel if they keep ANYTHING from this, please let it be that. The game is stupid easy, but ive been shiny hunting and getting so much out of it for that, since the make shiny chaining avaiable from the first encounter. I feelt im getting my moneys worth with that. Many will think its not, and thats cool, it just makes up for the price with me. Honestly, I'm still holding out to see where gen 8 goes before I make any final calls on if I still wanna play pokemon games or not. The last few have been super easy and aiming for gimicks rather than building on deeper mechanics previously intoduced. I hope that this game was there "simple game" and they go all out with gen 8. Not holding my breathe, but pokemon has gon through so many wierd slopes over the years that dont make sense til in retrospect. I hope they at teh very least add more options for the VAST MAJORITY of their fans being older and still enjoying pokemon. Nothing specific, just keep us in mind please?
Seanzy Man yeah, I’m really hoping gen 8 is going to be good, otherwise I think I’m about ready to leave this series. Im fine with them taking out some of the extra stuff like abilities, but i dislike people saying saying its to make bridging the gap easier. If you dont know what youre doing, you'll either learn, or do your own thing. getting rid of the choice doesnt make it easier. Yeah not knowing a physical pokemon's nature is making it objectively worse puts you at a disadvantage, unless the game explains it, most people wouldnt know, and its not enough to stop your progress completely. when i was younger I played though pokemon pearl and soul silver without ever looking at abilities much, never knowing natures mattered, never knowing ev's and pokerus existed, and never using status moves or buff (because i thought they were lame..i mean.. come on, you arent hitting things). When i learned about those things later i admit its still a bit much for me to care about (mainly ev's) knowing or not knowing never affected my ability to play the game, which is the most important thing
Gatekid3 Same for me too, until I discovered from other people about what abilities really were and I became interested. It was only until I was more grown and had my Black and White game
Lol at least you had the balls to complain about those 3DS graphics, I saw a lot of people saying the graphics were good but it's literally the same engine but with polished borders and I hadn't realized how much the shadows suck; remember how people and Game freak would blame the lag on the 3DS instead of admiting it was their engine that lacked polishing? Well, that. 3DS can run RE revelations and One Piece unlimited world R without trouble and Pokémon lags like crazy in 2v2 battles. They should have AT LEAST released these games for 40 like the regular Pokémon games instead of the 60 Full Switch game (cause being honest Let's Go definetly doesn't compare to a main console 60 dollar RPG)
I think it was an OBVIOUS choice to use the same models as the 3ds and polish them.. but to make it look EXACTLY like it? They barely did anything else. Especially the animations. It's GOD awful
Im really disliking the mentality that not only game freak, but a lot of companies are starting to get that says they can just make whatever and people will still buy it. Like you said, game isnt terrible, but i share a lot of the same grievances and your arguments are pretty solid to back up those grievances. Nice vid.
Key word: BRAND NAME RECOGNITION Admittedly DPPt/HGSS were DS games that were still running on a relatively weaker system than the newer 3ds games, BUT GEEZ the quality of **all games** after the start of the smartphone/lootbox/**"CINEMATIC UNIVERSE"** era (circa. 2013) is just sickingly appalling, especially when Pokemon is A FREAKING 1.5 BILLION DOLLAR BEHEMOTH with more than enough dough for a proper mailing system (talking about the newsletter fiasco), and a properly made Pokemon title, but the decide to spend on something entirely different and deliver half-baked services and half-baked games that rely on nothing but nostalgia and past popularity to sell. Gen 6 and some elements of Gen 7 are so bad with this nostalgia shoving, with LGPE being the one. They want to appeal to the original Red and Blue players while dumbing down the difficulty of the games while telling maturer stories much subtler themes while relying on the overdone nostalgia of Kanto to sell copies because they don't have confidence in the region to have its own identity. LGPE could've included all 809 pokemon, but they only allowed Gen 1 pokemon because of nostalgia. The multiverse thing exists, so why didn't we get one with pokemon from all current generations? All of the other regions have contact with one another, because we know there are pictures of landmarks from Hoenn, Johto, and Sinnoh in Silph Co. Hoenn got the Kalos treatment; Johto got the Sinnoh treatment; and FRLG did go the same route as Let's Go, but they actually allowed Johto and Hoenn pokemon in the post-game. It's almost like regional dex's were a theme for this generation, most of them being done poorly; mostly because there was literally no National dex's this generation or they only allowed for region-exclusive pokemon use. Gen 5 has got to be the best and most recent example of a region having its own unique identity while slightly homaging to past generations and, in B2W2's case, being able to mix in older pokemon without such heavy-handed preferences. Gen 6 and 7 had a problem with preferences to other regions pokemon to varying degrees. Kalos basically every older pokemon in its dex with the Unovan and Kantoian pokemon, especially the Kanto s higher on the encounter rates and then 5% encounters on their pokemon from their own region. Alola had the same problem, but with a regional dex of 300, it was less noticeable until you got to pokemon from the later dex, which also did the 5% encounter rates with pokemon like Mareanie and Mimikyu (Mimikyu is very worth it, though); USUM kinda fixed this, but a regional dex of 400 did make things more noticeable. I think that the multiverse theory is cool, but at this point, it's just an excuse for sloppy writing. Zelda suffers the same crap: a split-multiverse timeline so they can write anything and it'll stick. Does Game Freak really expect that older pokemon players want to come back to an overly-convoluted franchise that went from being come-of-age-stories about kids going simple magical adventures to multi-universal hijinks involving animal bioenergy that can warp reality, alien "pokemon" that can are and can travel across multiple dimensions (still the coolest thing to be introduced thus far in the Mega timeline), and sloppy writing decisions. I really doesn't feel like your choices have weight anymore. tl;dr Pokemon is a hulking behemoth in the game industry. They need to up the quality of their games because we as fans don't pay for games with hugs and kisses. WE PAY WITH 50-60 bucks of cold, hard cash. They need to stop the nostalgia moments where every single gosh-darn character essentially ends up saying: "Hey, remember when these games were better back in Red and Blue, I know I do!". And the newer regions barely get any unique identity, besides Unova, because each newer generation has to have references to an older generation. (i.e. Unknown Dungeon in Kalos and Malie Garden - Nugget Bridge event in Alola) There's a heavy-handedness in most of the recent dex's to push all newer pokemon in the later dex down to 5% encounters and an over-abundance of pokemon from different regions taking the spotlight. In Gen 7, SuMo repeated this exact thing. USUM kinda fixed this it still exists. (Don't get me started on how to get Razor Fangs.) The multiverse was cool until Game Freak showed us, through their actions and decisions, that they want to use that to retcon everything until the series potential has been milked dry. The story elements are inconstant and messy now, potentially pushing away older fans and newer fans who were hoping for a simple story.
@Kinda Weeaboo, But not really. I don't know, man. Sure, 76 wasn't very well received, but there are a ton of people who don't care about the game's flaws and that worries me.
Nintendo kinda has an issue with pricing recently imo. 1-2- Switch being $50, Tropical Freeze being $60 when the Wii U game was $50 (and then discounted to $20), Tennis Aces not having enough content to justify $60, and the lack of any good holiday switch bundles come to mind initially. I know we have games like Smash, Zelda and Mario Odyssey that are totally worth the money, but I wish Nintendo wouldn't be afraid to sell games for $30-$40 when they need to. I think they'd genuinely sell more copies *and* people wouldn't feel like they're being cheated.
Exactly. And don't forget that New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe was basically a port of NSMBU AND NSLU, And It was MAINLY Ported Due the major Failure of the Wii U, Let it Costs $60. And if *YOU* were one Of the Few People to Buy Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U, Nintendo Basically Wants You to Get The SAME EXACT GAME For *FULL PRICE.* Lord. Have. Mercy!
Well.... you're not wrong. I couldn't even finish the game because I GOT BORED. The game wasn't hard or anything. I just got bored. It was so slow. The only positive thing about the game, for me, was stumbling, literally, into a shiny Ponyta. Lol
I got it when it was released and I still have yet to play past Giovanni’s gym. I’m so close but it’s just so damn boring that it’s not even worth it for me.
I agree with a lot of your opinions on the series itself Pokémon needs to expand and try something new like Mario and Zelda did with odyssey and breath of the wild I feel that as time goes on older Pokémon fans are getting bored of the series (like me) because they just keep throwing up games then adding a new coat of paint on it with either new Pokémon or something like that
Hero of Hyrule then watch people complain about trying something new cough cough island trials cough cough go mechanics cough cough cough cough mega evolutions cough cough z moves cough cough basically everything new the Pokemon community has tried has basically been to try something new and people have backlashed against it
Boerger plays those aren’t technically “new” to me z moves mega evolution etc are all just ways to make your Pokémon do more damage or look better/cooler they don’t do anything that drastically changes the series for example breath of the wild is the first full on open world Zelda ever with a lot of other features in it that make it quite literally a breath of fresh air the trials let’s be honest are the same as gyms just reskinned
And yet people still complained here's the thing Pokemon isn't gonna completely do a one 80 just because everyone wants it to while yes I do agree that it should change just like breath of the wild I also think that it'll receive a lot more backlash the thing is people say they want Pokemon to change but then complain about it changing let's talk about the go mechanics dude random encounters were annoying and frustrating especially since you couldn't pick or find the Pokemon you want in Pokemon sun and moon I ran into almost the same Pokemon I always encountered lures in Pokemon let's go and basic Pokemon being everywhere and seeable really helps trying to find the Pokemon you want and yet people backlashed against it without a second thought.
Boerger plays the thing is though that mechanic of being able to see your Pokémon probably won’t come back because as shown in silver and gold they features everyone actually does want to keep they trash and while that feature in particular did come back in this game again it probably won’t be seen ever again or for a very long time
Boerger plays also just in general there will always be people who don’t like something that’s a fact I think the people who are instantly backlashing the game are the people who are angry/ frustrated that the game isn’t exactly how they want it I still like Pokémon as a franchise but my only problem with it is that the formula for the games is getting stale
Honestly, considering how the let’s go games were supposed to relate to Pokémon go I would’ve loved to see them implement the research tasks in some way instead of just having your rival hand you everything. Professor needs x many of this Pokémon? Optional quest that can give you some extra poke balls. Professor wants you to gather data on x type Pokémon? Side quest for extra party exp. Little optional things for extra goodies leading to larger research quests that give you the opportunity to encounter rare Pokémon. Something more to do for those people that don’t want to just mindlessly progress. I’m sure many people will disagree, but I personally love little side distractions and I’m sure there’s a good way to include them with meaningful incentive past what I only briefly mentioned. The let’s go games seem very devoid of content. Also a word on the animations, go look at Pokémon coliseum. That game was fantastic for its time.
Oh the good ole days when your friend walks up to you like I found this pokemon called Regirock in a cave and you're like omg what there's more. I miss when pokemon had secrets. I've sadly only been through 2 generations, but I'm aiming to play all the original games. The thing is, I agree with that Gamefreak thinks that they can do anything and still sell it. I will play the game, I always Will with a new gen, but maybe this is less exiting then it used to be...

I love the Kanto region when it's done well. Exploring Kanto again was fun in GSC, FRLG and HGSS but those games didn't baby the shit out of you so maybe that's why. I mean Alpharad used 3 Vilrplume in his playthrough. Three of the same pokemon on his team and the game still looked easy
@@IndraTyde I mean... Have you seen the No experience Gen 1 challenge? Even without XP Dugtrios pretty much stomped through Gen 1. Gen 3 with FRLG weren't much harder until I had to grind because my highest team member was 46 and my lowest was 41. Let's Go... Let's Go is a weird beast. If you play Eevee, go for dex completion (why wouldn't you) and fight the bonus Eevee Candy trainers it's stupid easy. My cousin was playing Pikachu, wanted an alolan Exeggutor as his sixth, and kept rotating members for evolutions and was mostly fine. The moment that you forgo the Candy mechanic though... Fights get a bit tougher as most boss fights were given bonus HP to compensate for you having attack candies... And can we talk about moves? FRLG didn't have this problem too much, mostly just because Whirlwind and Roar weren't pointless moves (why did Champion Blue's Pidgeot still have Sand attack though?) In opposition Trace has 3 moves on his pokemon, but at least they're all consistently useful. Once again Pidgeot as an example, it has Air Slash, Heat Wave, and Quick Attack, all pretty decent for a Mega Pidgeot. But it goes to show that they just replace bad moveset choices with no moveset choices (Sabrina's Alakazam only has 2 moves Psychic and Night Shade. I mean STAB Psychic on Alakazam is pretty good, but why not give Dazzling Gleam to deal with Dark types? The only Idea is that they intentionally wanted Nightshade so that Alolan Rat can be useful. Nightshade isn't Mudslap Espeon bad, but it's... just weird.)
I love the game. Does it make it as good as a normal Pokemon game? No. Was it worth the price? Probably not. But is it fun to mess around it, and is eevee adorable? Yes. But yeah, if you don't have it, maybe wait for a sale.
Finally someone with a more nuanced opinion about this game. I usually only get to hear "THIS GAME IS THE WORST GAME EVER" or "This game is so fun OMG y'all are just haters". I won't buy this game even though I'm a big Pokemon fan. The quality just doesn't look like to hold up to the price. Pokemon Sun&Moon, for example, were brand new games with a new region, new Pokemon and new mechanics, and the game's price was around $45. Pokemon Let's Go looks like a 3DS game on a HD emulator and is just another reboot of Kanto, with just a tiny ammount of new content and it costs around $60. I'll gladly give it a pass, even though i acknowledge it can definitely be fun and a nice time consumer, if you really don't have other better games to play. But I personally have so many games on my Backlog and on my Wishlist that are much greater games then Let's Go and a lot of them are even cheaper.
I know right? one person on my channel got angry over a joke video I made, I said that "let's go might fail" and showed it next to smash ultimate, then the person wrote a poorly spelled comment calling me a hater (even though I can acknowledge the good and the bad parts about it) then saying that smash ultimate would fail because of let's go. I have never seen someone that defensive over a game before, and it really opened my eyes as to why people call pokemon Nintendo's most toxic fanbase.

You forgot about how coop mode is poorly designed and implemented. When you get into actual double battles, the game doesn't allow the second player to play with you, but when it's a solo trainer battle, the second player is always able to battle. For example: ~ You battle Jessie and James, and actual double battle, and the second player disappears. It's a 2 vs 2 battle, but the second player can't participate. ~ You battle Giovanni right after beating Jessie and James and you can battle him with a second player, turning it into a 2 vs 1. How does that make sense?

6:47 - 6:56 they actually do this with the Snorlax that you can catch in the game, so it's like they knew their catch system sucked but still went with it anyways.

"Your main Pokemon can pretty much one-shot everything" My Pikachu in my Pokemon let's go nuzlocke: *Is killed by my rival within the first 20 minutes of the game*
Ok, but they want to maximize their market share. Better to have several kinds of games to reach as broad an audience as possible. Better to hit casual gamers, young or new gamers, mobile game enthusiasts, as well as nostalgia-fueled veterans. People act like Game Freak is out of touch--folks, they've built an empire. They want to get *new* six year olds hooked, so that *they* will be arguing about new Pokemon releases twenty to thirty years from now.
6:46 Someone never used the poke flute. If you try to appeal to everyone, you appeal to no one. That's how Let's Go feels to me. I'm having a hard time paying attention while playing this game. The lack of random wild battles should make things twice as fast but the trainer battles feel three times as slow. I dread every destination that is on the other end of a trainer-filled route and I don't know how I managed to get through Silph Co. in only two sittings. Docked controls require you to play one-handed and are possibly the worst I've ever seen in my 25 years of gaming(directional and confirm/cancel buttons should NEVER be on the same hand and waste a second of time every time you want to do anything). The Pokemon storage system also lacks boxes, a feature that existed in the original Red and Blue versions. In addition you can't move pokemon freely, they're in a list and your only options to organize them are to sort the list or swap locations one by one. Good luck finding that Paras in a list with hundreds of other pokemon jumbled together. Held items, breeding, fishing, the game corner, cycling road, the day/night cycle, and probably some other stuff I've forgotten have all been removed or replaced by a neutered version. A trainer in the game literally says they removed the cycling road because bicycles are too dangerous.
Something I think pokemon should attempt is almost the same thing Zelda and Mario got, a near complete revamp to the mechanics and play style of the game. Similarly Pokémon should receive a almost open world style of game, still an rpg turn based game, but maybe don’t force the game to go into that battle style format and keep it free camera as you choose what to battle, make the battles more vibrant like Pokémon stadium on steroids and you have a hit. They would just need a switch in artsyle and a LOT more work time and funding. If anything they shouldn’t try to mash all 800 Pokémon but instead only remake one of the regions with this style and see how it works out, maybe even offer other regions as dlc with more storyline. Just Pokémon is getting very old, same battles.. same stuff each time, they should focus on making a new play style instead of a new 100 pokemon
In response to this I feel like Nintendo already understands this, and that many of Nintendo’s ip’s are getting stale and need revamps. And they definitely need to make more new ip’s of rebirth new ones with completely new mechanics and hope for a hit
Ya it’s a good game but I agree their are some major flaws. I think that the wild Pokémon should be visible but there should be wild battles and held items and abilities are one of the best matchanics and the Pokémon that follow you is one of the most asked mechanics since the second gen
While I do love pokemon, I mostly got this so I have something to bond with my daughter over. It is definitely going for a more casual gameplay experience, but I don't really see an issue with that. I still have my Ultra moon if i want to get competitive.
Yes! Thank you Scott, finally an opinion of this game that feels genuine! Everytime a new one comes out I feel like people get swallowed into the hype beast maw and can't form a "on point" critical opinion of it. But you got your impressions out, what you found good, what was bad in your opinion, and gave it some critiscism on how it could improve. Bravo! And I agree, in my opinion, not only the catching but also other aspects of the games like fishing need reworking. Honestly, I always thought catching pokemon was really frustrating and boring, so I'm glad they still took time to try something "different" on it. Next time maybe we can actually have some decent fishing mechanics that are actually fun to play instead of feeling like you're filing your taxes or something. And perhaps they can learn to finally be a little more consistent with their way of making games... maybe, someday... I mean not that It'll matter to me, after the Sun/Moon fiasco, I decided that Pokémon ain't my thing anymore, I'm gonna spend my money on whatever other thing catches my eye and roll with it! Why did I bother to write this comment? Well, first, I wanted to leave my opinion of Falco's video, cause I liked it a lot, as I've said before. Second, It's hard saying goodbye to a series you used to be excited about so gimme a few more weeks, okay? TwT
Think about this, a huge world ala BOTW, where pokemon roam like in this game, and you go around exploring, catching, training, and just making trainers balanced around the average level of your team Basically similar to pixelmon (which was sadly banned by nintendo :( but this is basically what will bring me back to pokemon with actual excitement instead of nostalgia)
Its funny because Pokemon is probably the one game that would benefit the most from the 'open world' direction. It could have hidden items, time/location sensitive pokemon, reintroduction of puzzles, and with flying acting like a quick travel its almost perfectly set up for one. Large, diverse area's combined with more content that a console version would allow for, with ACTUAL endgame would be great. Even if its just for gen 8, and gamefreak goes full gamefreak and leaves out the stuff people love for the next one we'd still have that one that would probably have a lot of replay value, or at least be one of those games you play once but never forget.
I love how this video is still applicable to the next gen's previews and showcases. Huge graphical leap!!!... -if you only compare it to other pokemon games, and not other games that appear on the same console- ...
Forced my self thru moon but I couldn’t finish ultra moon. The alola games where pretty boring tbh NPC’s loved slowing the player down with dialogue in those games. Their the only main series games I can’t replay because of that.
I actually really like overworld encounters I didn’t realize how much I hated the tedious random encounters every three steps until they were gone but I DO miss the encounter battles especially for training...
Alex Kendall it’s not necessarily that I didn’t want to fight Pokémon at ALL, it’s that I wanted to be able to choose when and what I want to fight. Really the only good part of random encounters I can think of is adding challenge and suspense to nuzlocke runs

@@GroovyPancake pretty much. They know it'll sell very well so they don't care much as much about quality as they should.

Where I felt I could at least die if I messed up my moveset or underestimated my enemy.

but like having a friendly rival to follow you around only to have the og rival come back to be an equally friendly rival just feels big dumb

Liking and replying just so this comment gets some acknowledgement.
This game is literally a slightly higher quality 3DS game.
I think it was an OBVIOUS choice to use the same models as the 3ds and polish them.. but to make it look EXACTLY like it? They barely did anything else. Especially the animations. It's GOD awful

Key word: BRAND NAME RECOGNITION
Admittedly DPPt/HGSS were DS games that were still running on a relatively weaker system than the newer 3ds games, BUT GEEZ the quality of **all games** after the start of the smartphone/lootbox/**"CINEMATIC UNIVERSE"** era (circa.
I really doesn't feel like your choices have weight anymore.
tl;dr
Pokemon is a hulking behemoth in the game industry.
(i.e. Unknown Dungeon in Kalos and Malie Garden - Nugget Bridge event in Alola)
There's a heavy-handedness in most of the recent dex's to push all newer pokemon in the later dex down to 5% encounters and an over-abundance of pokemon from different regions taking the spotlight. In Gen 7, SuMo repeated this exact thing. USUM kinda fixed this it still exists. (Don't get me started on how to get Razor Fangs.)
The multiverse was cool until Game Freak showed us, through their actions and decisions, that they want to use that to retcon everything until the series potential has been milked dry.

Except Nintendo has nothing to do with decisions for Pokemon games.

I'm still playing it too this day.
Thank god I am not the only one I loved that game
Well.... you're not wrong. I couldn't even finish the game because I GOT BORED. The game wasn't hard or anything. I just got bored. It was so slow. The only positive thing about the game, for me, was stumbling, literally, into a shiny Ponyta. Lol
Yeah i haven't played it since January, and i got it past Christmas
I have two shinys I like how there easy but hard to find shinys
I got it when it was released and I still have yet to play past Giovanni’s gym. I’m so close but it’s just so damn boring that it’s not even worth it for me.
SHMOUSEY86 well you aren’t missing much. A girl does try to capture you though every time you fight her she tries again.
Nick Morgan that’s a fun idea side quests would be super fun and a great way to extend the gameplay that isn’t post game game stuff

@@IndraTyde the region trio was honestly a nightmare for me. I say bring back more challenging legends to get like Rayquaza's puzzle.
I've sadly only been through 2 generations, but I'm aiming to play all the original games. The thing is, I agree with that Gamefreak thinks that they can do anything and still sell it. I will play the game, I always Will with a new gen, but maybe this is less exiting then it used to be...
@@IndraTyde I think this will be back
Old legendary Pokemon were removed so there are only new ones they will probably be either secret or part of the story
I don’t love the Kanto region and I’m sick of it. I’m _so_ sick of it.

For example:
~ You battle Jessie and James, and actual double battle, and the second player disappears. It's a 2 vs 2 battle, but the second player can't participate.
~ You battle Giovanni right after beating Jessie and James and you can battle him with a second player, turning it into a 2 vs 1.

They make their games for 12 year olds, but they target their ads to have nostalgia for 20 years ago…
Or they're being assholes.

Honestly, I always thought catching pokemon was really frustrating and boring, so I'm glad they still took time to try something "different" on it.
Next time maybe we can actually have some decent fishing mechanics that are actually fun to play instead of feeling like you're filing your taxes or something.

Second, It's hard saying goodbye to a series you used to be excited about so gimme a few more weeks, okay? TwT
Think about this, a huge world ala BOTW, where pokemon roam like in this game, and you go around exploring, catching, training, and just making trainers balanced around the average level of your team
Basically similar to pixelmon (which was sadly banned by nintendo :( but this is basically what will bring me back to pokemon with actual excitement instead of nostalgia)
this is pretty much what alot of fans want. (myself included)

Forced my self thru moon but I couldn’t finish ultra moon. The alola games where pretty boring tbh NPC’s loved slowing the player down with dialogue in those games. Their the only main series games I can’t replay because of that.
I spent around 1000 hours in X/Y, 500 in ORAS and 150 in Sun/Moon. Well in USUM however I just finished the game and never played it again.
I actually really like overworld encounters I didn’t realize how much I hated the tedious random encounters every three steps until they were gone but I DO miss the encounter battles especially for training...
That was what repels were for. you weren't spending _all_ of that money anyways.
Alex Kendall it’s not necessarily that I didn’t want to fight Pokémon at ALL, it’s that I wanted to be able to choose when and what I want to fight. Really the only good part of random encounters I can think of is adding challenge and suspense to nuzlocke runs
4:46 actually made me like the video.
"Look at all that stuff from your childhood in the *Kanto* region!"
Y-Yeah... I started playing Pokemon before I was born... sure, GameFreak...
