I worked in education til retirement, 31 years. I worked summer school for 15 of those years, also worked in a zinc plating factory, did fencing and picked up every after school event all through the school year. So I absolutely understand where you are coming from.
I am in the States, and I don't know the official reasons, but after 20 years of teaching, we are seen as disposable. During the pandemic, we were treated poorly. After the pandemic, there was a mass exodus of teachers. The states have had to continually lower the requirements to become a teacher, and few last beyond 5 years. In states that have unions, teachers are better paid, but my state is a "right to work" state.
