I think the reason the later films weren’t received well was cause the 2 films got the audience used to the games being a major focal point of the stories that when it deviated it the audiences didn’t like it
@@youngstar312& also how dark the latter films got like I appreciated it for that it showed war doesn’t have happy endings & I think ga were expecting a happy ending for everyone
@@ngin98 yep, that's why I love Mockingjay so much(the book). Katnisses PTSD and suicidal thoughts really make this whole story feel a lot more realistic than almost all of these types of stories.
I don't know, I like them. They're really good for what this franchise has been. The problem I have with Mockingjay is that I have yet to see a 2-part final movie that actually works well. Hopefully we'll get it with the next Mission Impossible, but every other example I can't help but feel like the first movie is all the setup and the second movie is all the payoff, and neither of them are complete. It's like if you cut Return of the King right when the battle of Pellenor fields is about to begin, neither half would work as well as they work as a whole
5. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes 4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 3. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 2. The Hunger Games 1. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
That’s not Snow’s sister it’s his cousin. Her band is Tigris and she is the cat lady in Mockingjay Part 2. I just watched The new film yesterday in the theater
catching fire is my favorite as well! i haven't seen the new movie, however, i 100% agree with your ranking. the part in catching fire that always gives me chills and gets me teary-eyed is when she's stuck with the jabber jays and can't get to peeta and just starts screaming... phew, so good!!!!! another amazing ranking
My maybe controversial ranking ^^: 1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 2. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire 3. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes 4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 5. The Hunger Games And for the books: Mockingjay > TBOSAS > Catching Fire > Hunger Games
Catching Fire is my favorite as well. I loved the PTSD scenes with Katniss. They were handled so convincingly, and quite frankly, they were heart rending. Sadly, I doubt more of the modern movies would show how vulnerable Katniss can be, For example, asking Peta to snuggle with her after her nightmare. To me, this showed a strong young woman being human, and humans can be scared and vulnerable. This did not by any means make her look weak, like it would be viewed now, by today's trend
for people who see this, yes im serious! i didnt mess up the numbers 5: the hunger games 4: catching fire 3: ballad of songbirds and snakes 2: mockingjay part 1 1: mockingjay part 2
i SO wish they re-release this series somewhere near you. during the midnight premiere when the screen opened up for the aspect ratio change everyone started cheering and screaming like tupac walked into the place. it was wild
Katnis and finnick were the stand outs for me in mockingjay 1. I say finnick because of his bomb-dropping delivery of Snow’s sinister secrets! And his own tragedy 😢
1. Mockingjay Part 1 (4.5/5) 2. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (4.5/5) 3. The Hunger Games (4/5) 4. Catching Fire (4/5) 5. Mockingjay Part II (3.5/5)
My main problem with this franchise is that that the plot constantly feels forced to progress rather than it doing so naturally. Like Katniss just did the berry thing with Peeta to live cause the game makers were playing with the rules. It was defiance, but the fact that it triggered so many people to just suddenly start doing it, and on top of that have a secret revolution built up in the background so suddenly is so jarring. And they want Katniss to be their mockingjay, but she is clearly not cut out for it at all in the movies. Idk about the books. But also everyone just putting her on this pedastal for defying the Capitol to the point they’re willing to die for her or the cause is just a difficult concept for me to accept. And I guess I’m in the minority where I think Mockingjay part 1 is leagues better than 2. Part 2 feels like every conclusion to every plot point just happened. They were forced to wrap everything up. Prim just dying was something I hated because it just made the first movie feel pointless to me since she was the reason why Katniss even participated in a game. She saved her, so she could just die later. Then Gale just felt like a 180 to me where he just became obsessed with killing whoever, and potentially killed Prim. Felt out of character and that they forced him to do that so Katniss can end up with Peeta. And Katniss and Peeta as a whole just don’t mesh well together. Peeta constantly looks weak and feeble. He doesn’t do much. I think by the end I can buy them loving each other but because of what happened with Gale, again their relationship just felt artificial at the end. Catching fire was by far my favorite and had so much good in it. Haven’t seen the new one but honestly may wait till it hits streaming. Sorry for the long comment, I just watched/rewatched these like last week so my thoughts are fresh in my mind

which is kinda ironic, because the whole point was that the games are awful and should be stopped. But the GA wanted more games.

@@youngstar312also why I love the ballad it breaks the typical movie format & structure shame its not doing better in the box office
