Something interesting that the show never pointed out is that not using your Grisha powers make you sick either mentally or physically. A lot of Grisha in hiding die because of it. In the book that was also the reason why Alina was always picked on in the orphanage (bacause she was always sickly) but in the show they changed it to her being Shu. Once she started using her power she got a lot healthier, hence Mal's comment

yes, which i find an unusual concept. This doesnt mean its bad or good, just a really unusual use of Powers. In other fictional content its mostly the reverse way, using your powers drains you. For an example, take Spawn. The more he uses his Powers, the faster he will go to hell. Or if you use it to much, you`ll die. This creates Drama, because using your Powers will be a last resort tactic, because it can hurt you. SaB is the only show where the Characters can potentially use their Powers to solve any Problem they face, because, it not only doesnt harm them, but actually make them more healthy... Lets see how this develops in the Future.

@@LeechTMReacts I think it actually makes a lot of sense🤔 their powers are part of them just like any other body part. If you have two legs but spend years of your life sitting in a chair your muscles will decrease and your legs will go useless and it effects your general health. Similarly if you don't learn to use or control your power it gets generally weaker than its original potential and it effects your health. But I do agree that it does open up a lot of plot holes since it is an easily accessible way of solving problems that isn't always used to the extent that it could be.

The Inferni that attacked Inej recognized the knives. In the last episode, Inej had to leave the knife she used to kill that girl's brother behind.

Sure? Did we see a scene where the inferni saw the Blade? At least i dont remember it.

@@LeechTMReacts There's no scene of Polina finding her brother's body, but when she sees Inej we do see the clip of the knife in the back of his head, and then the matching blade is visible in a sheath on Inej's waist. I think it's safe to assume that Polina saw Pavel's body, and the knife used to kill him, and then recognized the matching blade when she saw Inej.

Uhhh, thats quite a lot to assume, especially from a throwaway character that gets introduced just to get killed off within 5 Minutes. But youve build a logic and good conclusion to that situation. It at least makes more sense.

"the heart is an arrow, it demands aim to land true"
looking forward to your reaction :) Rechtzeitig zum Abendessen!
    Edit after watching it:
I agree with alot of your points, alot of this episode was setup for the last two so it was more on the weak side. They rushed alot of scenes and there was some very fast off camera travelling and plot convenience.
The point that the enemies know what they are dealing with when seeing the Grishas Kefta colous is a good point, but I think they are supposed to work a bit like the principle of poisenous animals have bright coulors. They could have just stuck to one colour I guess, but then the fantasy trope of sorting people into classes and giving them matching colours would be lost lol.
The Grisha that went after Inej knew she killed her brother because she remembered the knive in her brothers head and matched it to the ones Inej was wearing. The cuts and shot composition elude to that.
A Durast is part of the Fabrikator/Materialki order. There are Durast (manipulate steel, wood, stone etc. for crafting) and Alchemi(Alchemists basically).
The Nina and Matthias storyline was rushed in my opintion, but they are important in the Six of Crows novels and this is a setup to their story so that's propably why they included it.

I get your points but with the Inferi she recognised Inejes daggers...

I also had some issues with this episode. But in the case that the inferni knew that Inej killed his brother because of Inej knifes but the camera points it out so fast that a lot people didn't notice.

thanks, yearh i was discussing it with someone else on here, maybe theyve even cut out some footage in a previous episode, but it feels sloppy and rushed.

@@LeechTMReactsI think originally the plan was to make 10 episodes but they decided to make 8 because of the budget and it is in this episode were you can tell the change of passing

To me this episode had the same problem episode 3 (I think) had: the timing. Everything happens too fast just like Alina training and the Crows traveling to another country. The training takes weeks (maybe months) in the books so does the journey but it was cut short for the show, the same in this episode with them arriving at the city, everyone finding everyone, etc. Reminded me of Game of Thrones at the end. But I also undestand they can not take 3 episodes walking from here to there lol.

id rather take a slow Show and building up the characters, instead of instant teleportation and no Character Building.

I agree the sets for Nina and Matthias look soooo fake. Some other sets look fake too (ahem, Ketterdam sets) but that is by far the most obvious. And I 100% agree that the romance looks rushed. I still love it though because it's almost line for line in the books, but it was missing the emotions that were portrayed in the books. (It was meant to be a flashback in the books and were scattered in various chapters).
Also, yes, the grishas becomes healthier the more they use their powers. In the beginning of the books, Alina was always described as sickly and skinny, and then we found out it's because she was hiding her grisha powers. It was barely mentioned in the series, all we get is Alina saying to Mal "I'm never that sick" in Ep1.

thanks for the explanation. I find it very weird, that the powers nurse them back to health / makes them more healthy. Its a very unusual concept, which is a good thing, but as a long time viewer of this fantasy based scenarios, this will take some time getting used to :) For Nina and Matthias, i like both characters in their own way, but the romance is waaayyyy to fast. I always enjoy plucky and outgoing characters like the red haired girl in the Palace, and Nina is no exception. I hope she and him get more time to grow as characters.

@@LeechTMReacts thanks for pointing out that powers=healthy is unusual. I never noticed that until you said it! Good catch. And I agree, after reading loads of fantasies, that one’s pretty refreshing.
