    The written stuff in the show is all imaginary languages of the fictional world, like Ravkan, Kerch, Fjerdan, etc. :) I think they got someone who developed the languages in Game of Thrones to work creating these languages for Shadow and Bone

    I just wanted to clarify that ketterdam(where kaz, jesper and inej are) is a city in another country than ravka (where alina is), also that the reason the crows (kaz etc.)can move around the fold through fjerda is because kerch (the country where ketterdam is) is not at war with fjerda but ravka and fjerda are, also the reason why they have to go on supply runs through the fold is because only one of the sides of the fold has a coast, also the one that doesn't has the capital in there so all trade for food etc needs to go through the fold.
    It might be interesting to look at a map to understand the layout of the countries, I also recommend the world building video that netflix released to help with the magic system etc and geography,

    You describing one of the scenes with Kaz as looking like the beginning of an interesting heist movie is so funny because that is basically what the Six of Crows books are all about haha.
    If you are into that kinda thing and have some time to spare I‘d wholeheartedly recommend reading the duology (especially if you enjoy fiction with a lot of fleshed-out characters and some major plot twists).
    Btw you seem like a really nice and insightful guy, definitely looking forward to the next reaction!

      Thanks. I work in the broad sense of filmmaking as well, so I guess I can talk from that kind of experiences a bit more than others 👌

    Loved the reaction! It was funny that you googled what squaller means and it ended up being a screamer. 🤣
    So I'll explain what it means in the show.
    The Grisha (also known as the Soldiers of the Second Army) are divided into 3 groups, you can see what order they are based on what color kefta they're wearing-
    1.Corporalki (The order of the living and the dead) are divided into Heartrenders (red & black) they can snatch the air from your lungs, slow your pulse until you drop into a coma, or literally crush your heart in your chest and healers (red & gray) can heal and patch you up;
    2. Etherealki (The order of summoners) divided into Squallers (blue & silver) raise or lower air pressure to create storms, Inferni (blue & red) - to explain them a little bit -Grisha cannot create matter they don’t “magically” create fire they actually summon combustible gases like methane or hydrogen, but still need a flint to start a spark to make fire, and lastly Tidemakers (blue & pale blue) use temperature and pressure to summon and control water. Side note: General Kirigan and Alina are technically Etheralki, Alina is Sun Summoner and General Kirigan also known as The Darkling can summon shadows.
    3. Materialki (The order of fabrikators) divided into Durasts (purple & gray) they deal in the solid: Grisha steel, textiles, and glass, and lastly Alkemi (purple & red) specialize in poisons and blasting powders.
    hope this helped!

    You should watch "Shadow and Bone - Building the World" video from Netflix's RUclips channel. It's not really necessary but it is helpful, for learning some of the world and different names/terms.
